“This place was versatile. You could eat on the veranda and take in the views of the white mountains almost 180 degrees in view. The drinks are extremely pricey for the size served. They were delish thou. If I can recommend a single thing it would have to be the clam chowder. Ask for butter not oil and ask for pepper otherwise the best clam chowder I’ve ever had. It’s on the thicker side but it’s silky smooth and not that pasty flour taste. Kesha was super friendly and everyone seemed genuinely happy to work there. It’s definitely a dinner (2-5) mealtime type of place. You get to watch the sunsets.”

“Been here many times for dinner and work conferences. Service is always great as is the food. Mike was behind the bar tonight and treated us awesomely. Fortunately this establishment has some employees that have been here 20 plus years. Night started slow, then got packed due to a business convention and with good attitude Mike didn't falter he just puckered up and ran with it. Thank you for a great meal and experience. Will continue to make this my go to place while here. And ohh, btw, the pastrami sandwich and smash burger are not only great but, more than a mouthful.”

“Beautiful old hotel with excellent restaurants, but they are pricey. Rooms are small. Closet can only hold about 6 items. Grounds are beautiful, as are the views of Mt. Washington. Cog railway only goes to the 4, 000 foot level of Mt. Washington after November 1.”

“In July, we went to New Hampshire to take in all the nature. During our trip, we went to a restaurant with a spectacular view. The Switchback Grille is located high atop the mountain slopes of Bretton Woods. To get there, you get to take a scenic Gondola ride, which was really fun! I can see people getting up there during the summer for hiking and nature walks, and during the winter for ski and other winter activities.

The restaurant is located right where you get off the Gondola on the top of the mountain. The window doors facing the gorgeous view was all open, with a handful or so of table seatings. If you want to soak up the view while dining, it is the place to be. They do have a large indoor dining area as well, where you can still enjoy the view of the mountain.

We were there for Sunday Brunch, and they have a special Sunday Brunch menu. We got a Mimosa Flight. Three small fruity mimosas come in the order. One with strawberry, one with blueberry, and one with blackberry. One was better than the other, up to your preference, really.

We decided to share Watermelon Salad. They brought the salad, pre-divided for us, which made it super easy to share, which was awesome! It was really good, watermelon was perfectly ripe, veggies were super fresh, it was delicious!

For main, one of us had Seasonal Salad with Chicken. The chicken was a nice large piece, and grilled well. I had Brunch Burger, came with fries and a pickle. The egg was cooked to perfection, with runny yolk, just the way I like. The beef patty was juicy and satisfying, and overall, it was a pretty big burger. The fries were nice too. My hubby chose Egg Sandwich. The sandwich was big! It was meaty and with a good amount of moist eggs, fluffy ciabatta…quite good! They were all very filling.

We had a nice brunch here. Everything was fresh, tasty, and the portion was nice and big. The service was polite and friendly. We were well taken care of. If you are in the area, and want to have a nice brunch with a gorgeous view of the mountains, hop on the gondola and head over to the Switchback Grille! You can do a nice hike after the meal to walk off the calories and get some exercise as well.”

“Arrived late Friday night and could only imagine what the view would be like in the morning. Slept with the balcony sliders open and fell into a deep sleep to the sounds of the ammonoosuc river gently rolling. The room was comfortable and well appointed. Morning found me well rested and waking to a glorious sunrise on the first day of autumn in all the glory. Breakfast was amazing on the river. Short walk after on pierce bridge for yet another amazing view. Our event was at eleven across 302 on the river road so we spent as much time as we could at the inn. Highly recommend and reserve early the place is sold out and for good reason. I hope to travel this way again and remain here for a longer stay there is much of heaven to explore in there parts!”

“As a family of 5 sometimes cooking on our schedules don't work well so when we go into a place like subway to help with that we don't expect things to be great bit the one here in Whitefield they are so amazing. They always have a smile on their faces, they great you and make you feel welcomed. They make your experience quick and painless. They are patient and quick to answer any questions that you have. Highly recommend this place to anyone.

“Came here for a girls overnight getaway and dined here. Loved the ambiance of the wine cellar (bring a sweater-its chilly down there! Menu is seasonal and slim, but literally everything was delicious, especially the scallop dish! Waitstaff was short staffed and a little curt, but everything else was delightful.”
