“Staff is great at making sure you know how to place your order, as it can be confusing for first timers (we weren’t the only ones).
Between three of us who visited, we ordered all of the taco options. The carne asada, pollo asado, and adobada tacos were a hit - the meat was flavorful and tender. The cactus was just okay, and the only flavor was spicy. We all got flour tortillas, which were soft and held up well. The person making my tacos made part and then made someone else’s in between, so I think he got confused and tossed a bunch of onions in mine, even though I specified no onions. I understand mistakes happen, but he covered it with guac sauce and then said “no onions” when handing them to me. I ended up having to pick them out but still enjoyed the tacos. The chips and guac are really good and fresh, and the red agua fresca (I forgot the flavor) that was recommended to me was also very good.
As far as the location, it was conveniently on the way from Battery Park to Brooklyn Bridge. No seating, just bar tops for a quick meal. No restrooms either. Bright and pretty clean for how busy it is.“

“Ordered take out once and 2 times I physically visited and their consistency in flavor is phenomenal. Customer service is impeccable, you get greeted the moment you step inside. Good arrives super quick. Even with us arriving last minute before they closed we were still welcomed warmly. I’ve had the al pastor tacos and a pork cemita. “I’ve been coming to this small business for about 3/4 years now and although it’s just a taco truck I know enough that all I have to do is pick up my order and eat it at my house or enjoy it with my partner at the nearby park. I’m not gonna make a review about the “environment” of a taco truck and make them feel obligated to my seating needs for that I’ll just to a RESTAURANT it’s a perfect grab and go. The staff is very friendly and hard working people, for as busy as they get their customer service is consistently great. I want to mention how hard it is to find authentic AL PASTOR TACOS that are supposed to be made like how they make it here. The tortilla is always fresh, the meat is seasoned perfectly and you can tell by the color on the meat and the salsa verde is also perfect if you are into spicy fresh homemade salsa just the right texture not watery like others that I’ve had around the area.“

I got the chicken taco in the macho cheese shell and would absolutely order it again in the future. “IXIM TACO feels like one of the more promising new additions to Hackensack’s Main Street.

What immediately separates it from the usual fast-casual taco experience is the tortilla. Corn tortillas are pressed fresh to order, and that detail changes the entire structure of the taco. They arrive warm, soft and with an actual corn character rather than simply functioning as a container for the filling.

We tried the chicken, fish and birria tacos, which gave us a good first look at the kitchen. The fish taco is the more constructed of the three, while the birria delivers the richer, slower-cooked side of the menu. But the common thread remains the masa, and that seems to be where IXIM is building its identity.

The restaurant itself is casual and efficient rather than theatrical. The emphasis is clearly on fresh preparation, quick service and a relatively focused menu.

It is still a young concept, and that is perhaps the most interesting part. IXIM feels less like a finished statement than a very good promise. If they maintain the quality of the tortillas, ingredients and execution as the restaurant grows, this could become one of the more distinctive taco spots in Hackensack and Bergen County.

“Our first time going to the Totowa location (met up with friends for lunch). Staff was very friendly and helpful - we decided to eat outside and they brought the food to us quickly. We had the tacos, regular bowl with carnitas and fajita bowl with steak and pina-mango drink. Food was very tasty and freshly made. Will come back to try El Pastor. Definitely recommend Sombrero Tacoria.“

“I rarely give out 5 stars. I’m not a self-proclaimed NON-foodie. But this was absolutely fantastic.

The consommé was to die for - totally perfect. I’ve spent WAY more money in midtown (Amor Loco, rated 4.7 RIP) for Birria Tacos whose consommé was absolutely flavorless and super oily. This was had richness from bone broth or something. Totally satisfying and not overly salty either.

Idk why people sleep on actual good food and go wild for hypes.

I did notice the Al pastor used what was probably a cheaper cut of meat, but they make up for it with balanced seasoning and filling ingredients + generous avocado salsa“

“My eight year old is very picky. Very picky. And I want him to understand that Taco Bell is not Mexican food. So we went in hopes he would at least try some real tacos. Well, he did. I don’t know how you did it, El Macho but he polished off a full plate of four carnitas tacos! The waitress was nice enough to just give him meat and added cheese but he devoured them.
