“This has been our go to spot since we discovered it about three years ago. It is a family owned and operated establishment. It’s got that great in town vibe. Many regulars frequent. There is a large outdoor eating area if you don’t want to eat indoors. What’s nice about their outdoor space is that it isn’t just tables thrown on the sidewalk, they actually have a patio that is not visible to traffic. Which is very nice. The portions are large and delicious. Always cooked to order and piping hot. It is a bring your own, but if you bring a bottle of tequila, vodka, or rum they will provide the mixer which is kind of cool. So you can have your frozen margaritas at a fraction of the cost. I strongly recommend you at least try this cozy in town friendly establishment.“

For mains, the standout was the duck carnitas—tender, rich, and perfectly executed. An off-menu tomahawk ribeye, served with house-made salsa and fresh corn tortillas, was another highlight—arguably better than what you’d find at a top steakhouse.

Although Cosme offers a thoughtful wine list, we found ourselves captivated by the cocktails. The spicy margarita was a favorite, and the mezcal flight was both fun and expertly curated.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have room for dessert—but that only gives us another reason to return. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.“

While visiting New York, I was introduced to MAYAHUEL in Astoria—and let me just say, it’s hands down the best Mexican restaurant I’ve had in a very long time. We sat outside and enjoyed an unforgettable dinner in a cozy, welcoming setting.

The queso fundido with chorizo and the guacamole with chips were beyond amazing—some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Then came the Enchiladas Suizas, and wow… the salsa verde was truly next level. Every dish was bursting with authentic flavor and made with care.

“I cannot sing the praises of this place and the staff enough! We had a long day at the museum and we were all starving and the kids were very cranky. We took forever trying to find a place that they would all find something to eat at but that place didn't work out so we came here not realizing how lucky we were. After having a quick glance at the menu I realized two of my children would probably not eat anything. Two of the ladies that work there helped us work it out to piece together a meal for them with components they already have. It took quite a while figuring everything out but they were patient and helpful. The food was outstanding and the cocktails and mocktails were phenomenal. House salad was nice, with a touch of unexpected mint, but the Vegetarian Chili Rellenos with winter vegetables really missed the mark. In hindsight I should have returned it as it was warm but barely cooked. Every vegetable stuffed in the poblano chili, including the chili itself, was still crunchy (almost raw) rather than what I am sure the head chef would have intended. Also, The carrot pure sauce was a bit too heavy on the cream. I had high expectations, so was disappointed.“

Everything taste fresh and even the chip were crispy fresh and taste homemade. The crema, beans, steak well seasoned, guacamole all paired wonderfully and perfect portions of each. I hate getting nachos with 80% chips, 10% beans and barely any protein. This place knows exactly what they’re doing and I can’t wait to try other stuff on their menu.
