We had about 30 people and the space was a bit tight. I wouldn't book it if the event calls for any full group activities (like games) since it can be hard to hear (open space/ceilings). It's perfect for happy hour or casual/social events like birthdays. Also keep in mind there's a good amount of stairs and no elevator. The tables are high tops along with 2 booth areas. “We went early (12:30 pm) for lunch on St. Patrick's Day and the place was just starting to get busy. It was just the two of us and we were seated in the dining area. Their menu was specifically for the theme of the day, irish food.The cornbeef and cabbage was good, but it was missing the carrots and irish soda bread. The service was good, but word of caution, they add an 18% tip to the total, which I thought was tax. I put my credit card in the book and tossed in a 20% cash tip. When she returned with the receipt for signature, thats when I realized the tip was already added and the cash was gone. Their 18% plus my 20% equaled $21.00 tip on on a $48.00 bill. I requested the server return the cash tip, which she did without issue.“

“My wife and I both love oceancrat. It is your typical seafood boil place that is clean, reasonably priced, and has unique decorations throughout. The food is always flavorful and well cooked. It's the first type of seafood boil place we've been to that serves fried rice with the meal, and at first we thought that was unusual, but after the second time, we decided we really liked the uniqueness and taste. It is really great to have a place like this locally and we hope it stays around for decades to come.“

“I'm a sucker for Dives lol. Higher-end bars, city rooftops and lounges all have their place, but so do local dive bars lol. Calm casual atmosphere, not smoky or anything inside. Plenty of pool tables and keno that locals play. I got breakfast. Eggs were great, and toast was perfect. Very reasonably priced. People weren't used to newbies coming in but were very friendly. “It's been years since I've been here, but between Jay's making lists for top dives in NJ and top beer lists in the country I have been meaning to get back. Prior to going I looked up their beer list on Untappd and was overwhelmed by the beer selection. Unfortunately (but fortunately because it made my beer selection decisions much easier) many of the craft beers listed were sold in cans. The beers on the numbered list on Untappd are the beers available on tap (all other beers listed are in cans or bottles). They still had a nice variety of craft beers on tap and I really enjoyed the few I tried. They seemed a bit pricey though and even the lower ABV beers were served in smaller glasses. We got two seats at the bar around 6:30 on a Friday night. All night people were coming and going and there was nobody really standing around waiting for bar seats for too long. The bartender was nice and he was the only one working when we first arrived but after a bit there were multiple people behind the bar. It definitely felt divey inside. My dad said the bar top was the same bar top from years and years ago when he used to come here when he was my age. We split wings with medium Buffalo sauce and cheesesteak fries. I frequently see Jay's wings mentioned on SJFS and for good reason. They were top notch and I'd come back just for the wings. They might even be at the very top of my wing list (although I'd try a different sauce next time). Incredibly crispy and weren't chewy whatsoever. The cheesesteak fries (cheesesteak served over a bed of waffle fries were also surprisingly good. While at Top Golf earlier in the week our bay host recommended them and advised all the food at Jay's is very good. I wasn't expecting to spend $100+ at a dive bar between two of us but the experience was very good. If I lived a little closer I would definitely be there all the time. Even though the beer list is good I'd probably stick with drinking a domestic draft or bottle the next time I go to avoid spending as much as we did on smaller glasses of craft beer. I will definitely be back and will be looking forward to trying more menu items in the future.“
