“Restaurant Review: Hidden Gem in Philadelphia
We decided to try this restaurant in Philadelphia after seeing its great Google reviews, and it didn’t disappoint!
When we arrived, the restaurant was quiet, with just one other couple dining. The ambiance was simple, though the seating arrangement felt a bit tight, and the table was smaller than a standard four-person dining table. However, the experience more than made up for it.
Our waitress, Harwinder, a nursing student, greeted us with a warm smile and exceptional hospitality. She took the time to explain the menu and even served us complimentary onion bhajji, which was a delightful start to our meal.
I opted for the Lamb Karahi and Garlic Naan—my first time trying Lamb Karahi, and it was absolutely phenomenal! The spices were perfectly balanced, and the lamb was incredibly tender and flavorful. My son chose Paneer Makhani and Bullet Naan. While the Paneer Makhani wasn’t as creamy as we’re used to, it was still delicious. The Bullet Naan, however, turned out to be much spicier than expected—truly living up to its name! My son couldn’t handle the heat, so we switched dishes and ordered a Rosemary Naan to cool things down. The Rosemary Naan was a standout—fragrant and perfectly baked.
To finish, we treated ourselves to Malai Kulfi, which was the perfect sweet ending to an already amazing meal. We also appreciated how affordable everything was—the pricing felt very reasonable for the quality of food and service.
Overall, this place is a hidden gem with incredible food, excellent service, and great value. I highly recommend it and will definitely return!
Vegetarian options: Paneer Makhani only we tried.“

“We had booked Veda for our daughter's wedding welcome dinner on 5/3/24. The whole process from the time we contacted them till we had our function was smooth. They were very accommodating to our requirements and went beyond our expectations. If you are looking to have a large gathering I will definitely recommend doing a buyout. We decided on the menu and then we were guests at our own dinner. It is full service. The ambience was good and our guests enjoyed both the food and their awesome selection of cocktails. Gaurav Bhardwaj and Brazil provided excellent service. Did I mention Food? Very Good and Flavorful. We are from Delhi and big foodies, and I must tell you that they superseded our expectations. The décor is very pleasant and we didn't need to do anything additional They provided us two stations for our henna ladies. Our function was a big hit. Check them out for your next baby shower, engagement, birthday function!!!!!“

“Excellent service and food! I loved everything from the samosa chaat, mutton biryani, palak paneer, tikka masala, and the complimentary dessert from the attentive business owner himself. Every thing tasted heavenly and the dish sizes are hefty so you can thoroughly enjoy your gastronomic affair. The owner frequently checked-in on us to make sure the food was up to par to our expectations. 10/10 experience, I highly recommend.“

“First time at this Indian restaurant, ordered the chicken korma, veggie samosa and garlic naan.
All were very good. Well seasoned. I would order the chicken korma spicy next time. The medium spicy level did not have enough heat for me.“

“Saffron offers excellent lunch menu deals. For $10-12, you get a lunch portion meal (Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Saag, etc.) with rice, salad, and a daily accompaniment. Chicken Tikka Masala was delicious, but a little sweet for me. The Lamb Saag was also a little fatty, but very flavorful. Granted this was a takeout order during COVID. We typically prefer dining in to review a restaurant.“

“What fabulous and tasty food. We had not been here in quite some time and the food has improved significantly. The naan was the best I have ever had we ordered onion flavored. It was the perfect complement to my chicken tandoori. Service was prompt. Great, casual atmosphere and a lovely date night experience. You must try it.“

“After a graduation, our family had lunch at Ekta. It was at mid-afternoon time, so no one was in the dining room besides us.
The food was very good. We had some Chicken Tikka Masala, lamb, samosa, naan and more.
Service was fine, although perhaps a bit more attention to water refills would have been nice.
The atmosphere was nice and clean. Nothing amazing, but pleasant nonetheless.
The price was what I expected - a little high for me, but I do feel I got my money's worth.
I'd go back again if I'm in the neighborhood.
Parking: 2 hour parking is available on the street. The roads near it though are very narrow.
Not easy to park.“

“Have been coming here since it opened and although I feel like their Kathi roll size has reduced over time but the taste and quality has not! So i just order 2 rolls now. My favorite are masala paneer and chicken keema. They do scratch that itch, especially after a couple of drinks..... they stay open late“

“Tiffin has been our go-to for Indian delivery for years. They have good specials, the drivers are super, and they seem really to care to know how the food was. And the food is great -- Kerala Pepper is one of our faves, and their chana masala is better than everyone's.“

“Just went with my husband for Diwali - it was our first time here after seeing many phenomenal reviews and WOW! Incredible food, so good that I only got one picture because the rest we were so busy inhaling. The crab cakes are delicious, as is the paneer lababdar and chicken chettinad, which was a taste of home for me. The gulab jamun at the end was delightful.
We will absolutely be coming back!“

“We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala (good), Garlic Naan (good but only one piece split in half for $5), Gobhi Aloo (good), Saag Paneer (very good), and Samosa Chaat (very good). Would eat here again but unfortunately the rice was disappointing. Most other places I’ve been to offer a bit more naan than that for $5 and have rice so good I’ve enjoyed it by itself.“

“We are Indian DJs, that get to travel all over America for Indian and Fusion weddings. We are based in Dallas and when we booked another wedding in the East Coast, we started putting a list of places we wanted to eat in Philly.
Many people told us about Masala Kitchen. We were a bit skeptical to try it since we have had so many great Kati Rolls in NY.
Masala Kitchen was great!
We arrived before they even opened and patiently waited outside for 11am so we could enter the restaurant. The person taking our order was friendly and very helpful. I usually ask a series of questions before I order. He answered all my questions and lead us to the chicken Kati Roll section.
We ordered all 3 of the chicken choices. Masala, Keema, and Tawa. They were all good but if I had to rank them it would be Masala, Tawa and then Keema.
The next time we are in Philly, we will be back here for sure.“

“Stopped by after my son's college visit in Haverford and be wanted Indian food. Very good food! We did get some things to go and the regular naan was a bit hard, but either way, enjoyed it and will return when we are in that area again.“

“I have been wanting to come here for a long time and finally stopped for takeout. I ordered pani puri and then asked the girl taking my order to pick out 4 more appetizers for me to try. She nailed it. I wish I asked her what I got because I don’t remember! Everything was delicious!
The food is seasoned so well, such nice flavor and so fresh. Their menu is very interesting and I will definitely come back to try more things. I agree with the other reviewer that this is a hidden gem!
PS this is a corner store that also has a kitchen and a few small tables. It was spotless in there and the tables were cute. They’re also on grubub.“

“Went on 1/30/23. A very well stock store. Reasonable prices. Friendly and helpful employee. Lots of good frozen selections and lots of spices, herbs, legumes, lentils, sauces in jars and spice packets. We made butter chicken for dinner from a spice packet and it was easy and wonderful 20 min meal. Served with naan and samosas for dinner Their prepared foods were not open yet but it clearly has peaked my interest. Will definitely return often. I wish them well!“

“I have loved everything we have ordered from here! The Manchurian cauliflower is delightful, the curried goat tastes like it was made with love every time, and their butter chicken always tastes like a velvety hug. Their naan is excellent, the samosas are fantastic, and their customer service makes me feel like I am a good friend they haven’t seen in a while. Their prices are reasonable and their portions are filling. This is our favorite place to get Indian food and they 100% have and will continue to have our repeated business! I can’t recommend them enough!“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at King of Tandoor & Biryani House, and it was a delightful culinary journey to this Indian restaurant truly lives up to its name, offering a wide array of tandoori and biryani dishes. Here's my review of the experience: Ambiance (4/5): The restaurant boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a cozy dinner with friends or family. The decor reflects Indian culture, with vibrant colors and tasteful artwork, creating an authentic dining environment. Service (4/5): The service was attentive and friendly, with the staff providing recommendations and accommodating special requests. Our dishes arrived promptly, and the waitstaff was knowledgeable about the menu. Food (5/5): The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the food. We started with the Vindaloo, a spicy and tangy Goat curry. The balance of flavors was exceptional, and the tender chunks of meat (I had chicken) soaked up the rich sauce perfectly. The level of spiciness was just right, offering a pleasant kick without overpowering the other flavors. The Chicken Tandoori Mix was a showstopper. The tandoor-grilled chicken had a smoky, charred aroma and was incredibly juicy. The mix of various tandoori meats provided a delightful variety of tastes and textures. Biryani (4/5): We couldn't visit an establishment with "Biryani House" in its name without trying their biryani. We opted for the classic chicken biryani, and it didn't disappoint. Fragrant and aromatic, the rice was well-seasoned and adorned with succulent pieces of chicken. Overall Experience (4.5/5): King of Tandoor & Biryani House exceeded my expectations. The restaurant offers a great selection of Indian dishes, and the flavors were truly authentic. Whether you're a fan of spicy curries or smoky tandoori dishes, this place has something for everyone. I would highly recommend King of Tandoor & Biryani House to anyone seeking a taste of India It's a place where you can savor the rich and diverse flavors of Indian cuisine in a welcoming setting. I'll certainly be returning to try more of their tempting menu offerings in the future“
