“The atmosphere of restaurant is great. Service was very good, and staff is friendly. Food was very good. My wife and I had the Turkey dinner and it was very good. Dessert was wonderful. Also tried a beer from a local brewery in Cape May that was on tap and enjoyed this as well. Look forward to coming back again.“

“My wife and I are on the #eatjersey challenge to visit and have a meal in all 564 towns of NJ. We chose Tavern on the Lake for Hightstown, our 150th town.

Great eats and comfort food in a place that is at the center of the town. They have a fantastic beer selection on draft that rotates over time. For the fall season, we had a Hot Toddy and Spiked Cider. The French dip sandwich and crab cakes were great.

When there's warmer weather, they have a great outdoor patio too!“

“Loving the calm warm welcoming vibe. I've come to learn that from Monday to Friday they do lunch specials from 12-4 PM for $8. Thankfully I made it on time for this opportunity.

Best recommend the 6 wings with fries. Have a drink like White Calw on the side. Chicken wings Flavor recommended by the bartender: The Garlic Buffalo. I truly wish I can give this more than 5 stars because this really earns 10 Stars. Nice size wings to enjoy, I did have to wait for almost 30 minutes but it was very well worth it because The way how it was cooked And prepared was with patience and passion .My compliments to the chef. If you love the taste of garlic and a kick of spice, go for it!

I love how the atmosphere is very simple, casual and not too high class. I must say this will be my new favorite spot to come by again. I feel like I can relax here letting all my stress out And embrace 90 music including our generation music.

“Nice local bar. I've met the owner years ago. He's always there making sure customers are taken care of. Decent place to stop and grab a drink. There's normally a good local crowd there. Food is ok. About what you would expect from a bar.“

“Standard bar fare. What you would expect. From an Ivy League town, I would've expected a bit more high brow? I mean that in a good way. I love a down home type of feel to a bar. Sports on the TV, great music piped through the place, and a very appreciative crowd. For a nightcap I would say it's a good place to go.“
