“The food was delicious and the portions were generous. We ordered the chicken with beef/pork ribs family combo and it fed 5 of us with plenty of food left over. We did prefer the pork ribs over the beef ribs but everything was delicious. The French fries were crispy and the rice was nicely seasoned. The staff was super friendly. They offered us extra sauce and utensils and were willing to help my husband take the tray and drinks to the car.“

“Was here in on a mini vacation and was recommended to this place . As I woman that works in the food industry this pace was really good !!! They were busy but got our food out in a good quality time . Garlic shrimp was amazing !!! Dave the sauce for dipping your bread and even adding your rice for a nice twist !!! Will def come back ! “McWhorter BBQ is a low key Portuguese bbq spot in the middle of Ironbound. The pork ribs are great the charcoal and saltiness was perfect and the fries were really good. You can’t beat the prices for this area. The service was great and my experience was good but I have one complaint and that is the rice it tasted fishy almost like it was boiled in the same pot as they would boil seafood. If you order fries get a salad or beans on the side and not the rice.“

“First off, I was met with by a staff member in a cowboy hat (LOVE!) The booth was so soft and comfy and the table stands are ornate. I had the short rib and the meat was fall off the bone delicious! It was so tender and the sides were so plentiful and delicious. Each side had something a little different to pair well with the meat; sweet, salty, savory! I also had the shik Karak which was a delicious tea and for dessert, I had a banana crepe drizzled in chocolate. They do have a flair with food and I will definitely be back here!“

“Small place ran by a lovely couple with all the signature classic Romanian dishes! This place is a complete hidden gem! The eggplant salad starter is just like my grandmother and mother make, the meats are excellent - portion sizes are huge and everything tastes like a solid Romanian place on my visits to Romania. The star today was the Papanasi - a classic Romanian cheese donut! One of the best I had ever! Highly recommended! Will definitely come again!“

“My friend & I were craving some BBQ food so we found this place through a quick Google search. We weren't sure what to expect when we first walked in, but the restaurant looked very nice & kind of rustic. I love that they have a few tables out front as well to enjoy the weather.

Our cashier was very sweet, friendly, & efficient. She also helped give recommendations as well. I ordered the pulled pork "sammich" with a side of roasted potatoes, Mac & cheese, & glazed carrots. My friend ordered beef brisket with a side of glazed carrots & collard greens. The service was pretty quick & the food came hot. Everything looked absolutely fantastic, but it tasted even better! My friend grew up with this kind of food in his family & practically teared up while telling me it brought him back to his childhood with how spot on the food tasted.

Nothing lacked flavor whatsoever. The pulled pork sandwich was perfectly tender, moist, with a tangy/smokey flavor. The glazed carrots were the right amount of crunchy & had a hint of sweetness to them. The roasted potatoes were cooked to perfection with a delicious flavor I can't put my finger on soaked completely through each bite. The mac & cheese was so creamy with some bread crumbs on top- no overpowering taste of cheese, (I ate that whole side!)

The food was so delicious that I ordered food to go. I ordered potato salad, macaroni salad, corn bread, & the cobbler of the day which was peach. My friend ordered over $100 of stuff to take home including the restaurants home made drinks (sweet tea, spiced peach, lemonade, & strawberry lemonade.) He also purchased 4 different types of their BBQ sauce, multiple jars of their jams, cobbler of the day, & the shrimp gumbo. Not a single complaint with any of the food. The price point is perfect & affordable. We had to leave a review with how much we loved this place.

10/10, highly recommend! We will absolutely be coming back while bringing more people.

Stephanie's Barbecue IV .Food low quality when you ask for 1/2 of chicken combo, they don't include breast only low end of the chicken.. don't get started on ribs more bone than meat seriously.. and I'm only 4 house away.. that sucks.. that's why travel 4 blocks. “Best fried chicken around. We ordered the 6 piece meal and the pieces are huge. Friendly staff as well. Also tried the fries, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw as sides and can't complain about any of them. The one drawback was the jumbo shrimp was a bit on the salty side. Parking in the back. Pricing is great especially these days. All the food is made to order so be prepared to wait 20-30 minutes if you order there but it's def worth it. They have a high chair as well for those who need one.“

“I just wanted to clarify myself to the worker in that restaurant especially the one in the front. We went at the restaurant today around 2pm. We went inside the restaurant and did not talk right away to let them know we were 2 customers, instead I stopped for a second and checked if we went to the right door. The worker in the front thought that we went in there to look for a guy and be with guy and do something. I just wanted to let that worker in the front know that we went there to eat and not to look for a guy. When we finished eating, that worker in the front got replaced with a young guy. I just don’t want the worker in there to think that we went there to look for a guy. We love to go to the church. Now a days, it is very important to do the right thing. We have a song in the church “choose the right.” Don’t judge the people by just physical appearance.
But other than that, the food was delicious. I highly recommend the restaurant.“
