“Shout out to Ricky's for being the last restaurant in the neighborhood to keep it real on food quality, price, and portion size.
I'd been scoping out Ricky's for a few weeks, after I noticed it by accident while walking by.
Wonderful and delicious home kitchen Puerto Rican dishes. I have no idea why this place doesn't have a line out the door all day everyday...probably because of its humble unassuming appearance.
Right now with the price gouging at restaurants and inflation, it's Exhausting going out to eat when you look at the bill.
It felt so good to sit down and have a plate if delicious homecooked food with a bottle of soda for $9.75!
Picture below is PR stew chicken w/rice and beans. Definitely will be back soon!“

“I found this place a few months ago since then on a regular I’m always coming in for breakfast. I have came here on a night before I paid a reasonable amount. Nice portion size however, tonight when I came in, I got too large one oxtail and one beef stew. The portion size was ridiculous for a large. I don’t think The portion size was worth the money. and the workers when you try to speak to them, they seem as if they don’t know any English so that was another negative. However, the young lady on the dayshift does the morning she’s amazing.“

“Good Dominican food at a really good price plus there's a wide variety and they aren't cheap about the amount you get. Really wonderful staff. Super friendly and very helpful if you're not sure what to get. It's small but the staff makes you feel like family while dining there.“

“Everything served at this restaurant is amazing. My father has been taking use there for years. I go every Wednesday for the Sango de Cameron, and ceviche. Prices are way more than reasonable for the quality of the food that’s prepared for you. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an awesome meal, ease on the pockets, and more importantly cleanliness, and great hospitality.“

“Las Esperanza’s Restaurant serves delicious and well prepared Dominican food. I like to order the baked chicken with rice and beans. Sometimes I order a side of yuca (cassava) as an additional side. This makes for a good hearty lunch under 10 dollars.
The service is quick, I generally order to go to be able to eat at Liberty park or at my desk at work.“

“Being from Paterson, it’s very easy for me to tell if a Dominican food joint is authentic. This place is definitely authentic Dominican food. Love their res guisada. I make sure to order from here from my job at least once or twice a week as I work in an adjacent office. The owner is very nice. Great find in Journal Square.“

“Anyone that says this place isn’t amazing is nuts trust in me go eat be happy and go again I’ve been slowing working through the menu pernil - fire - beef stew - fire - oven chicken - you guessed it fire- rice and beans stay slapping I love when they add the pumpkin if you know you know. Chimi slaps hard and I’m a big fan of the fried sweet plantain they stay sweet and delish. I saw a review about service and have been here now 7 times? I’ve waited twice when busy nothing crazy because food is worth the wait. Anyone steering you away is salty country on your own !“
