“They honored an order I made several hours ago during my lunch break. I had made a mistake and ordered online to this location instead of the one near my workplace. The online support was of no help. I had to place a new order at the new location for them to refund my order for the old location. Unfortunately, I did not have time to wait for a new order and insisted on getting a refund, but to no avail. The support team suggested that my order would be there all day. So I went after work. They did not have my order there unfortunately, but the employees asked the manager and they honored my order after giving them the confirmation number to my order. Thank you!“

“LOVED this new restaurant. A must try! The mole sauce on the enchiladas was out of this world DELICIOUS (and gluten free!) and they were super excellent taking care with my allergies. Oysters were fresh and incredible. Cocktails really great, the spicy marg is better than the regular one and the happy hour on Mondays is awesome! Vibe super great as well as the service. My ONLY complaint were the chips, but I feel it's a super important thing at a mexican place to have good chips. These were charred, bland and flavorless, and while I LOVED that they were celiac safe gluten free (not fried in a frier with flour), they kind of ruined what were otherwise decent salsas. They were also a bit chewy almost in a stale way, but the lack of flavor, texture and no salt was the main problem. We actually held back our salt from our oysters to help with the chips, but it didn't solve the texture or overall taste. Otherwise this place was incredible if the chips were good it would have a 11/10 from me and I'd be a regular!!!!! Still will definitely go back here, and hopefully they will reinvent their chips!“

“It was a surprise to find this little restaurant in Harlem. There were no tables, and we took the last two seats at the bar. While we waited, I surprisingly felt at home. The aroma of the food, the care with which Karina prepared each of the dishes, and the kindness and joy they served us. By the time our table was ready, we didn't want to take it anymore; we ate much more than we planned to order because we didn't want to miss out on their delicious food. I have dietary restrictions, and I was surprised to see that everything from the exquisite tortillas to the delicious tres leches dessert was prepared right there, gluten-free and preservative-free. We began with the Maine Uni Tostada. Pairing sea urchin with bone marrow salsa is a bold move that pays off magnificently. It is creamy, briny, and demonstrates a mastery of texture that sets the tone for the meal. The Octopus was equally impressive, sporting a char that gave way to a tender interior, all elevated by the subtle heat of chile morita.
The Duck Carnitas, however, are the undisputed king of this menu. Served in a cast-iron skillet to share, the meat is unctuous and rich without being heavy. Constructing the perfect bite with the fresh tortillas and radishes feels like a ritual you will want to repeat.

We finished with the Corn Husk Meringue. It looks like modern art and tastes like nostalgic genius. Enrique Olvera’s kitchen is firing on all cylinders, delivering a meal that is as intelligent as it is delicious.“

“Khalo is a modern take on a Mexican restaurant, leaning more toward Mexican-American fusion, and overall it’s a great spot. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent from start to finish. The décor is stylish and trendy, and the music gives the place more of a club vibe than a traditional Mexican restaurant, which actually adds to the experience depending on what you’re looking for.

While the menu doesn’t offer traditional tacos, what they do have is flavorful and well-prepared. The drinks are on the overpriced side, but that’s to be expected for the location. Parking is definitely a challenge—typical New York—but despite that, the restaurant is absolutely worth the visit.

“My husband and I first heard about this place from King Schratz and I’m so glad we did!

Yes, like others have mentioned, it is a bit pricey, but it's absolutely worth it. The food is consistently delicious and you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. My husband loves their tacos and burrito, and I’m a big fan of their elotes, tacos and taco bowls. Even my 79-year-old mother, who normally isn’t a fan of Mexican food, loves theirs. That alone says a lot!

Their tres leches is also incredible. I’ve sampled a lot of tres leches cakes in my life and theirs easily jumped to the top of my list.

Beyond the food, the customer service is just as impressive. Two of the owners, Jay and Kike, are always so friendly, accommodating, and helpful. They even offer delivery, and their driver, Juan, is just as awesome! In this day and age, it’s rare to find a Mexican spot that’s both authentic and Latino-owned... and Just Tacos is exactly that. We’re more than happy to keep supporting them!“

“I cannot sing the praises of this place and the staff enough! We had a long day at the museum and we were all starving and the kids were very cranky. We took forever trying to find a place that they would all find something to eat at but that place didn't work out so we came here not realizing how lucky we were. After having a quick glance at the menu I realized two of my children would probably not eat anything. Two of the ladies that work there helped us work it out to piece together a meal for them with components they already have. It took quite a while figuring everything out but they were patient and helpful. The food was outstanding and the cocktails and mocktails were phenomenal. I wish I lived closer because this would be a regular place for me. Highly recommend!“

“When we review restaurants it should be in the context of what they are, and what they are for. This is a beyond serviceable lunch spot that seems to invalidate existence of the nearby chipotle, and possibly even the nearby sweet green.

The food is fresh, the prices are reasonable and the portions are immense. The staff is friendly and the place is clean.

The food is also, by the way, quite tasty.

There are a lot of lunch options in the neighborhood but this is clearly one of the best if you are seeking a chipotle style meal.

Our meal was sublime...the starter guacamole, quesadillas, and piblil appetizers were fantastic, followed by the steak and two sets of enchiladas-mole and green. The flavors were hard to replicate. If you're looking for a vibrant, flavor-packed escape in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen, El Coco absolutely delivers—starting with the CHIPS AND GUACAMOLE. Served with housemade chips that are perfectly crisp with just the right touch of salt, this starter sets the tone for everything to come. The guac is creamy, fresh, and full of limey zing, a classic done right.

Now let’s talk AL PASTOR—marinated pork with sweet pineapple that hits that perfect balance of savory and juicy. But the real surprise? That pineapple chutney. It’s next level. Sweet, tangy, and a little spicy—it brought the whole dish together in the best way.

I went with the cheeseburger empanadas (yes, you read that right), and they were unreal—crispy on the outside, ooey-gooey savory on the inside. My fiancée had the jalapeño empanadas and shrimp & crab meat camarones tacos, both of which were fresh, flavorful, and had that signature El Coco twist: bold, layered flavor and beautifully presented.

The vibe here is unmatched—El Coco is popped out in pink, fun, and full of personality. It’s got that Instagram-ready aesthetic but without sacrificing authenticity or comfort. The energy in the room is as vibrant as the food.

Shoutout to Denise, our server, who was warm, welcoming, and super attentive—made us feel right at home.

As a food photographer and content creator, El Coco is exactly the kind of place I love discovering. The colors, the plating, the ambiance—all photogenic and all delicious. Definitely a spot that makes my food trips across NYC worth it.
