“Just tried this place and WOW ! The food was absolutely delicious. The chicken had the perfect amount of kick and flavor, and the pork was seasoned to perfection. And let me tell you… the Curried Beef Lumpia and the fresh fruit juices was to die for.

On top of that, the service was amazing. The owner is so warm and kind, which really made the whole experience even better.

The only downside is that it was pretty cold inside there’s a noticeable draft. If they can fix that and make it warmer, it would be the perfect place to sit and really enjoy your meal comfortably.

Overall, definitely worth checking out. I’ll absolutely be back!“

Maricel's Kitchen Caterers • $$
111 Main St, East Brunswick - 9.06 miles

“Private party in traditional presentation of a Kamayan feast (max 35 persons) for my milestone birthday. You meet with Chef Maricel herself to plan the menu and set-up (seating, music, and service). She was very accommodating for one guest who is allergic to soy sauce — a staple ingredient in Asian cooking. She prepared a separate meal for him. She made all my favorite Filipino dishes including Lechon (the best I’ve eaten!), grilled chicken inasal, fried tilapia, chicken adobo, and beef Caldereta (my husband’s favorite). I also recommend her crispy shrimp balls as an appetizer and pancit molo soup. Chef Maricel came out to present the Lechon and explained its significance in Filipino celebrations. The succulent pork and crackling were then added to the other dishes laid out on banana leaves. Dessert included turon and leche flan. The mango birthday cake was beautiful and delicious. We chose their beverage package that included non-alcoholic sangria, soda, coffee and hot tea. BYOB: Guests added pinot Grigio or prosecco to their glasses of sangria. Maricel’s Kitchen is a restaurant on the weekends and a cooking studio during the week where she teaches classes live on YouTube. The studio’s computer equipment set-up provided an opp for my family to project a slide show of photos from my life that guests watched during dinner. Our daughter led 3 birthday games between dinner and dessert where Chef Maricel’s cookbook and gift cards were the prizes. She signed each cookbook. Such a memorable evening!“

“Authentic Filipino Comfort Food – A True Hidden Gem! 🇵🇭✨

I am so glad my partner introduced me to this spot! Luzviminda Grocery and Restaurant offers an incredibly authentic experience that feels like a home-cooked meal. Even though I only managed to snap a photo of the dessert, the flavors of every dish we ordered left a lasting impression.

The Main Courses:
We’ve visited twice now, and the consistency is impressive.
Shrimp Ginataan: On our first visit, I tried this for the first time. The shrimp were perfectly simmered with squash and string beans in a rich, creamy coconut milk. It was savory, comforting, and fresh.
Pancit Malabon: For my second visit, I opted for these rice noodles. The combination of celery, eggs, shrimp, and tinapa flakes created a unique and delicious texture that I highly recommend.
Crispy Kare-Kare: My partner is officially obsessed with this dish—he ordered it both times! The beef tripe and crispy pork belly in that signature peanut sauce were a huge hit.

The Highlight:
You cannot visit Luzviminda without getting the Halo-Halo and grab some snacks to go. It is the perfect way to end the meal—colorful, refreshing, and easily my favorite part of the experience! 🍧

Verdict:
Whether you are looking for a hearty Filipino dinner or just a quick grocery run for authentic ingredients, this place is a must-visit. The staff is welcoming, and the food is top-tier. I highly recommend it!“

“We stopped on our long journey home from the shore and we were NOT disappointed !! Barb was helpful, sweet and gracious during our visit. The prepared food was AMAZING!!! And trust me when I say my family and I are pretty critical with our Filipino food, growing up around some of the best Filipino cooks ever. Literally EVERYTHING was amazing. We even picked up some groceries and snacks as well. We will be making the trip again just to visit The Filipino Foodmart in the near future. If you are in this area or even driving up the Garden state Parkway (it was super easy on and off with gps) make the stop. You will not be disappointed.“

“The lady at the counter is super nice.
I told her that I've never been here before, and she grabs me a little plate.... and put 5 things on it for me to taste.
Very hard decision to make, since everything was so tastey!!

I got a meal with chicken & pork, with white rice underneath. Also got a skewer, which was cooked to perfection.

Clean little spot. Very unassuming. Delicious food!!“

“I remember when it first opened, this was had crazy long lines for even a year afterward. Crazy enough for police presence there to monitor the crowds.

On one of my filipino husband's birthdays, I decided to surprise him with the food of his people. I ordered ahead of time via door dash to order ahead of time with a 530pm pick up time... but the food was prepared an hour early (kinda annoyed that it could have been warmer), so it was more than ready when I arrived.

Their sweet spaghetti is what you'd expect for fast food as well as their loco moco style burger patties... but their chicken (joy) is actually pretty good, even for next day leftovers after a quick toasting. So yes, don't hesitate to go big for the giant family pack. cluck cluck nom nom.

Also don't forget their peach mango pies! Even crispier after a quick air fryer reheat. Husband was happy =)“
