“Carmine's is our go to place whenever we crave Italian or a cheesesteak. Husband and I were there yesterday for late lunch. Excellent pasta fagioli soup, huge slices of pizza, and overstuffed, cheesesteak. Great service and reasonable prices. We were informed there is an extra charge if you're not paying cash. This is becoming a common practice and we were informed of it. Server was excellent and made us feel welcome. I was asked if I knew of any pizza parlors served gluten free and of course I recommended Carmine's.“

“As a lifelong Hackettstown resident, Prontos is in my opinion the most consistent pizzeria in town. Mamma’s when they’re on their A game is probably the overall best but on their off nights, their pizza can be a floppy and sloppy mess. I never have that problem with Pronto’s, and while I like Mamma’s sweeter sauce, Pronto’s is definitely not a downgrade in terms of quality ingredients and an upgrade in consistency. Margarita, bruschetta, and plain slices always hit the spot, their buffalo chicken pizza is one of the best around. Good pasta dishes too, and they’re run by people who I want to say are Albanian or maybe from some other Bulkan country, so I’ve had the chance to try something called a Cevapi (kind of reminds me of a Greek Gyro or Turkish Doner Kebab taste wise, but shaped like sausage instead of sliced or carved strips) which is delicious.“

“Definitely a hidden gem. Came in on a whim because I saw good reviews and was on the hunt for a good slice to go. There were several pizza options in the display and ready to order which I love about a pizza spot. I ordered a Sicilian sausage/red pepper, pepperoni hot honey and a white slice. I would have stayed to eat at one of the few small tables but the baby was in the car. The pizza looked so amazing I ate some right in the parking lot it did not disappoint. The crust on the Sicilians was perfect and flavor was delicious. White pie was also simple and perfect. Can’t wait to try the cheese!

It was great to meet and interact directly with the owner, Paul. He explained how he bought the business from his parents and has been in his family for decades with roots in Brooklyn and Italy. He even threw in a free cheese slice because he knew I was a new customer! Nice guy and love to see the passion for a small family business. In my short time there, Monday afternoon, several people came in to order to sit and for takeout which said to me they have a good customer base which is a good sign.

Moving to Roxbury from Bergen County a few years ago we still haven’t quite settled on our favorite pizza spot yet. I’d say this is in the running for our favorites and we will be back!!

It seems lazy and a bit rude/odd. Besides the staff not being super nice.. the plain pizza does not get better than Antimos in Randolph. Best in NJ. Make sure you ask them not to overcook it. Tastes best when lightly cooked then heated up at home.
