“Located on Millburn Avenue in Short Hills, New Jersey, Bagel Pantry offers breakfast sandwiches and approximately 15 types of bagels and a few other items. The plain bagel was fresh and the cream cheese very high quality. Take out is popular, while others take a break at the 8 or so small tables. The lighting is somewhat dreary, and the ceiling and walls perhaps worn, but the service was pleasant and the prices certainly reasonable.“

Time for Bagel completely surprised me. Honestly, I didn’t expect to find bagels this good outside the city, but these are the real deal — fresh, perfectly crunchy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. You can tell they’re made right and made often, because every bite tastes like it just came out of the oven.

But what really makes this place stand out is the people. The staff — and I’m pretty sure it’s family-run — are incredibly welcoming. They treat you like you’ve been coming there for years, even if it’s your first visit. There’s this genuine, neighborhood vibe that’s hard to fake. You can tell they actually care about what they’re doing, and they’re really good at it.

It’s one of those spots where you walk in for a bagel and leave in a better mood.

The bagel has the right consistency of crunchy and chewy with the flavor that you expect. “Its rare that you find an establishment that absolutely kills it in service quality and food quality. I've ordered online here a number of times--usually during Mother's Day, birthday, and New Years day. The bagels were good especially the asiago flavor. The smoothie chillers are top notch. Same goes with the fruit platter, presented in a color block that screams detail. Unlike some grocery grade platters, the fruit seems ripe and sweet. Their specialty cream cheeses are good just a notch below Philadelphia's lmaooo. The manager and staff were very pleasant and Im glad I braved the snow to visit the shop New Years day.“

“I always had Dunellen Bagel when I lived there and it’s the best bagel I’ve ever had. I moved and bagels aren’t the same here so everytime I visit Jersey I have to go to Dunellen Bagel and I have my husband addicted too. He’s never tasted a bagel like this and he was amazed. So we bring bagels back home in our carry-on and freeze them at home. I would 100% definitely recommend this place!“

“Very small bagel store, no frill interior. I believe they have a couple small tables at most and a wall hung flat panel. Tables may have been removed during peak COVID. Parking is pretty decent, I can typically get a parking spot without issue. Some bagel varieties do run out quite early in the morning. Typically everything bagel, salt, egg, wheat, blueberry are available later in the day. I do feel these bagels are some of the best in the immediate area, not bready, with enough chewy and crispy parts and moist. They have basic variety of bagel flavor selection but not a huge variety. Bagels have always been spot on consistent. Friendly staff and typically quick service.“
