“We got the bandeja paisa, and beef empanadas. The empanadas were delicious just the right amount of crunch and very flavorful. The bandeja paisa lacked salt and flavor, everything tasted the same. The steak and beans in particular lacked seasoning. The salchicha and chicharrón were tasty they saved the dish. The servers were friendly and attentive.“

The shrimply the best tacos, which was originally on a tostada last summer, was just as amazing, but didn’t sit as heavy as a tostada. Love the move to a light tortilla. “This is a great little café/diner right next to the Westfield train station. We are fairly new to Westfield and went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We were wowed by the wonderful customer service of our waitress, Cindy. She was very attentive, provided great order suggestions and also brought over their delicious housemade hot sauce to go along with our eggs. All the food we ordered was wonderful, including the short stack of chocolate chip pancakes, the egg and cheese sandwich on a hard roll, and the Florentine omelette. The chef (maybe owner?), Ash even stopped by later on towards the end of our meal to check on how everything was. We meant to write this review right after that, but then never got around to it and when we went back today a few weeks later, we realized how much we needed to write this up! This time Kirsten and Cindy both helped us out, and Cindy remembered us by our orders from the last time even though we had only been here one time- very impressive and shows a great attention to detail and customer service. Ash came by also, and it was clear he remembered us as well. The food was fresh and tasty yet again (we got the French toast, egg and cheese sandwich, and Greek omelette this time) and the prices are great. This place is a gem and is definitely becoming one of our go-to spots!“

“I was really impressed. The food was full of flavor — everything was well prepared, and the staff was super friendly. The place itself is a bit small, so I wouldn’t go with a big group, but when the weather’s nice they do have outdoor seating.

The food was honestly delicious. Their V-strami was excellent, the gyro sandwich was amazing, and the vegan crabless cake sandwich was really creative with great taste. It’s a bit of a drive if you’re in central Jersey, but definitely worth the trip. I’m also looking forward to trying their all-day breakfast — I saw them making pancakes and they looked incredible.

Expect a little wait since everything is made to order, and meals might come out as they’re finished. Other than that, it’s a really good spot and I highly recommend it.“

“What a gem! I hadn’t been here in four years and decided to go back with my goddaughter. we both had an amazing time. The service was prompt, the staff was super friendly, and the decor is absolutely beautiful; it feels like stepping into another world. We shared the calamari to start, then she had the lamb adana (which she devoured!), and I had the chicken adana, which I loved. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. We ended with kanzimbidi, and she swore it tasted like Dubai chocolate! She’s already asking to go back,maybe for Mother’s Day. Highly recommend!“

“Boxwood Cafe is a gem! The owner has created a high quality coffee shop and the employees are very friendly. I like to stop by for a latte and a baked good (scone, cookie, or blueberry bar) and sit outside at one of the side tables. Pre-Covid, they hosted open mic night and quiz night every month. Now Steve hosts a monthly Zoom Quiz Night and it is so much fun! A great locally owned cafe.“

What made our visit really memorable was the staff member Misheel (please forgive me if I spelled your name wrong!) who made absolutely sure our food was satisfactory. When we picked up our food, he made sure we knew that we could come to them with any concerns or questions. I got up at one point to get some butter for my bread and some dressing for my salad, and he was super accommodating. He also came by to check on us as we were eating. “Guys, I stopped in yesterday to check the place out. I got to speak to Angie, one of the owners and I purchased a piece of Carrot Cake to take home. I had to take a bite the second I left the store. Just a taste. OMG! It was the best Carrot Cake that I ever had! So moist and full of flavor! I was very impressed. Sadly ... that piece of carrot cake barely made it to my car let alone back to my house! And you know what ... Not only was that carrot cake awesome, it was GLUTEN FREE. Now to put things into perspective for you all ... I own Ahrre's Coffee Roastery (Westfield & Summit) and -- way back in the 90's -- I owned the Common Ground Cafe in Summit. I have sampled cheese cake from countless commercial bakeries over the years. It was always my favorite type of cake and the ruler by which I judged the bakery. Taste Buddy is legit, folks!
