“Edited (typo on price in original) and adjusting now that I've had time to think objectively...

I’ve always loved this place and supported since it opened. I’m a little disappointed with an order for my family- 1 classic heavyweight and 2 classic lightweights. They seemed to have shrunk the lightweight, to half the size of the heavyweight (used to seem more like a 10” for LW vs 12” for HW)… I could be wrong as I usually get the Heavyweight for myself, but others mentioned it seemed smaller.

Regardless, the bigger issue to me is the lightweight is $9 on the menu and heavyweight is $16 (I incorrectly put $14 in original post), while the lightweights we received are barely smaller than half of the heavyweight. The HW is on top and LW on bottom in the picture I attached. Since the lightweight is half the size, then people shouldn’t be charged extra and the price should be half. Otherwise, people paying $2 more for two lightweights will feel cheated. Granted it’s only $2, but the price after add-ons and tax is already premium. Bottom line the quality of food here is great, but the point is I could have ordered two heavyweights and paid less. I will be sharing with family/friends to avoid this from happening to them… order heavyweights and share to not be over-charged when ordering lightweights“

“like a lot of the other reviews, i have allergies and my order was treated with so much kindness and care. all of the staff members were super friendly and assured my order would be made as safely as possible. i have a strict gluten-free diet and was thrilled to try something new and fast. thanks!“

“No longer in actual food trucks, but they taste the same. Their service is quick. Still the best fat sandwiches I’ve bought. Everywhere else is just a copy. A staple in the grease trucks community that you have to try at least once. Whenever I’m around Rutgers I have to get one. Fat Nini w/ extra honey mustard!“

“It's a very simple place to get a simple sandwich or something a little bit more. Concocted or even without any bread and turn it into a type of platter. Whatever you're looking for they have it here. Roast beef turkey oven roasted smoked swiss cheese provolone white. They got it all here and on. Good half 7 in or 16-in subs.“

An jalapeño lovers dream!
I tried the 6 inch veggie sandwich. It came fully loaded with fresh veggies and special sauces. Each bite was filled with surprising flavours.
I highly recommend these sandwiches sealed with freshness!

“If you want a great, "old school" alternative to Tastees, this is the spot! I don't think they've changed the menu board since the 80s, maybe earlier. Handmade with care and attention to detail, the sandwiches are delicious and fresh. There are very few healthy beverage options, but Bai water is one and a good selection of flavors available. Friendly service and vintage interior decor make this sandwich shop a great stop along Woodbridge Avenue. Pictured is the tuna with pickles on the side.“

“I recommend all sandwiches but my favorite one is the chicken Caesar ciabatta sandwich. A salad but sandwich style. It’s so good it’s a must get. Workers there are friendly. I come here often for the corn muffins there the best I’ve ever had.“

“I went to Just Subs to place an order for a gathering involving a large number of people. I had reviewed the menu and had come up with a figure of $300.00, which by my calculations would provide enough subs, salads and sides for all involved. Probably with some left over. Joe the owner and his employee Desire questioned me about the number of people I wished to serve, and at that point told me that I was ordering too much food! Upon Joe's advice, I ordered a menu which came to a final total of $215.00! Everything was delicious, and there was some left over, just as Joe supposed there would be. It was a nice, professional gesture on his part, and a good way to treat a customer.“

All now in college now and finally got time to order so I decided to Order ( My very first time). I ordered the Chef Salad which was just fantastic! So Fresh! “This was my first time trying this location and it wasn't a bad experience. Although I did enjoy my good, there were a few small errors that won't allow me to go above 4 stars. I specifically asked for the sauce on the cheese fries to be on the side. However the cheese was on top and it was a bit messier than I would've liked. This wasn't a deal breaker since the fries were soggy and still had a good amount of cheese. However she they were unnecessarily messy.
Similarly with the sandwich. The flavor was there. The roll was soft. Lettuce was crisp, as was the tomato juicy.
Buuuut, the sandwich wasn't evenly sliced. Almost as if they started to cut it and then stopped. Which made a port fall out when I picked it up. So, although minor errors, they were big enough to affect how much I enjoyed the meal.
Will I return? I would say Yes!!“

“I worked at J&M for years and this was the best nearby place for lunch when tips were good on a Saturday. I realized over the years that this is by far the best sloppy joe sandwich anywhere in north New Jersey. I now live in the greater Philadelphia area, and still bring a cooler with me when I travel to the Madison area to bring a few of these sandwiches back with me to enjoy. So happy to see they are still in business, glad that some good things never change!“

“I met a friend there for lunch, the sandwich was just the way I liked. I ordered the meatballs combo with a coke/sprite mixed. We dined in with nice conversation. The place was very friendly and clean. Will return on my next visit to NJ.

Parking: Huge parking inside the shopping center area with one other dining restaurant next door.

“I came in on Saturday for a quick meal and was completely satisfied with everything. The girl working there was attentive to my requests and made the sandwich just how I wanted. Now 3rd trip. Ordered on line. Arrived at specified time only to wait another 30 min for order.
Not sure what other locations do that this one doesn't...but this one on Rt 22 always seems to be a problem.
Will be going to the other location ...it's further away...but never a delay or problem.“

“We had been to this place on our way to New York. A good subway place with enough room for customers to sit and dine. There are plenty parking as well. There was only one person to serve and the young lady was very friendly and provided a thankful service. Subway we ordered was very delicious and I would go there anytime. Since there was only one person working there, I experienced a bit of a delay. Again that happens in most Subway places away from cities. There is a clean restroom as well.“

“I have finally had a sub from a SUBWAY® that is worth 4 stars. It is The Monster with double meat and whatever toppings you prefer. I went with Garlic Aoli, Red Wine Vinegar, Lettuce, Tomato, Spinach, Black Olive, Jalapeño, Banana Peppers, Black Pepper and Oregano. Not toasted. The question is, is it worth $17? Nah. I honestly cannot tell the difference between their presliced meat to their newly sliced fresh meat. For chains, Jersey Mike’s is much higher quality for $1 - $2 more. Jersey Mike’s is actually less expensive had I went to the Avenel Subway location. The same sub there was $20! If you are in Central/North Central NJ, do yourself a favor and just go to Tastee Subs in Metuchen.

“I don’t know the employees name, but occasionally I run in with a last minute craving on my way to work @8:30pm. I know it’s towards the end of the night, but she is still always so pleasant and my food always made perfect and quickly. Tonight’s turkey sandwich was no exception. Too many times people just complain or take good service for granted, and I’d love to see see them get the recognition deserved. Some of us do appreciate it, especially when we’re running to work.
