“Sankofa Cafe is a gift to the Montclair community and surrounding communities that it serves. The atmosphere is wonderful and welcoming, the coffee and tea are wonderful, and the staff are always friendly and helpful.
Sankofa has become of hub of the community, often hosting social and cultural events, in addition to participating in community outreach in support of many causes.
The owner, Jessica Troupe, has poured her heart and soul into this cafe, and it shows. It is one of the best coffee shop in the area.“

“This is my favorite cafe to work and relax at. The decor is cozy and beautiful, and the staff are extremely kind and friendly. Since the cafe has opened I have been coming regularly and I always have a positive experience! The lattes are lovely, as are the pastries and baked goods which I have tried.“

“I just visited Java Smuggler and I will definitely return! The atmosphere is so quaint and comforting and relaxing! “What a great place! Passed by here once and our daughter’s name is Madison so I thought it would be fun to try out. Made a reservation for Mother’s Day, probably not the best day to try a new place. We showed up for our 12:15 reservations and despite the mob scene outside, our table was waiting. The food and service were spectacular on a busy day. I can’t wait to come back on a normal day. I had the cauliflower tacos. Amazing, as good as they look in the picture. Wife and daughter had omelettes with salad and potatoes. Neither could finish! Not sure if I can post photos“

“We booked this for Valentine's Day evening. We are visiting from the northeast. We had the prefix menu and everything they served us was exquisite. Service was impeccable and it was very romantic. It's not in the very best of neighborhoods, but the building itself is stunningly gorgeous, and the interior even more so.“

“Wayne Hot Bagels supplied breakfast for Teacher Appreciation Week and did a fabulous job! They were friendly, courteous, patient and worked with me to find items that fit within the budget. They even personally delivered for us free of charge. They truly were a pleasure to deal with and I would definitely use them again for future events!“

“We met some family at Cafe Zingara for Sunday breakfast after they told us how wonderful the food was. And they were right - it was DELICIOUS! The coconut latte and rainbow cookie latte were extremely flavorful without being too sweet. We enjoyed the Eggs Benedict, kids waffle, kids pancakes, cinnamon swirl pancakes, and breakfast biscuit sliders. Their homemade syrup is a great bonus to the pancakes and waffles. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back to try lunch next!“

“Have I mentioned pesto is one of my fav Italian sauces? So of course I got the chicken pesto and it was delish! (Halal!) The young man who took my order was kind and patient as it was my first time coming so I was a little inquisitive about the menu. I had the hibiscus tea iced.. and ordered a beef halivi. I have to come back in the am to check the calmer vibe I came towards the end of the night and not sure because there was an event outside or because it's normally lively but I'm looking forward to trying some coffees in the AM, God willing. They have books for reading too!“

“Their food is always delicious but every time I ordered coffee it was disappointing. They charge for each pump of flavor but when you get the coffee it doesn't taste like there any flavor at all. Besides that, no complaints. Staff is nice and the music is good.“

“I approached yhe Nordstrom cafe to get coffee with my daughter. Fonzi, the manager, exuded such good energy. He greeted every customer with a giant smile, and I even saw him bringing coffee out to customers sitting and relaxing. A+ customer service and thank you for transferring your good energy to me!“
