“A hidden jewel. This 50's themed diner is always immaculate. Staff is well trained and really friendly for this family owned business. We, until recently, worked our business from home so Chris's is our home from home. Always accommodating, food is excellent, prices fair. My happy place❤“

“We have been disappointed with our go to diner lately so we decided to try bridgewater diner. We placed our order, with some notes attached. We got pork roll egg & cheese, home fries bagel with cream cheese fruit cup & chocolate milkshake. All notes were read & followed. Sandwiches were loaded & roll was fresh. Bagel & fruit cup were very good also. Now, time to eat used to be our go to, but lately the food is not up to par. The home fries were not fresh just warmed up & dry. Asked for gravy with French fries & did not get. Roll was hard, no pickle or coleslaw with blt. No syrup or butter with pancakes. Will not let you put in notes. This has been going on gor the last 6 orders. Bridgewater diners home fries were fresh & so much better, added onions per request, pork roll sandwich was excellent. Hands down much better then time to eat diner. Needless to say Bridgewater diner is now our go to diner.“

“We needed a place to get together after a game with a lot of people. The Colonial didn’t hesitate when I said 20 people. We came and they sat us in the back so we could all be together. Phil and Pedro were an amazing team. They organized our checks by family and all of our food came out hot, fast and delicious. So very thankful for this option in the area!“

“I visited Henry's Diner on Tuesday March 25th, at around 12:30 and it did not disappoint! Parking was somewhat limited, and upon approaching the diner, I noticed a line that had formed. It took me about 20 minutes of waiting before I could sit down. The interior was well maintained and clean with a welcoming atmosphere, because as soon as I sat down, I was greeted by my server in a very nice manner! I ordered the breakfast burger and a side of chicken fingers that came along with fries. All of these dishes were incredible! The burger was juicy and not dry, the egg had a nice yolk, with very tasty bacon, and the fries were very crispy and seasoned well, as well as the chicken tenders being breaded beautifully and having a nice crunch. The diner accepts Rutgers student meal swipes, which is very convenient for any Rutgers students who want to dine here! The menu also caters to various dietary preferences, offering vegetarian options like the melted brie and cranberry sandwich on whole grain bread. The total came out to around $24 for my meal, and considering the amount of food I got for the price, I'd say I'm willing to come back! Overall, Henry's Diner provided a delightful dining experience with its nostalgic yet modern ambiance, attentive service, and diverse menu. It's a spot I'd recommend come back to in a pinch!“

“Really great spot and great food. I go to this spot often for breakfast and the food was always great. Customer service is great. Price may be compared to a diner but it's worth it. Give it a try. There is a reason why all the older heads eats here.“

“We arrived around 5:00 PM on a Thursday. We were the only customers so there was parking on the street and plenty of parking in the back lot. Looking from the outside, this diner has a very nostalgic feel to it.The cook greeted us when we walked in and took our orders immediately. We each ordered the lunch special that consisted of 2 Texas weiners (with everything on it), fries, and a can of soda at a decent price of $12. The food was ready in about 5 minutes and the texas weiners were great! The atmosphere was quiet during the time we went, making it slightly awkward while we were eating, but the experience was great nonetheless. We will definitely come here again!“

“Place seems clean staff was friendly the food I had ordered tasted ok but I was a little unhappy about the size of the my omelette given the cost and seeing the serving size of so many other meals ….too little overall and no wow factor if your going to serve less then use better ingredients when it comes to what you put in the food it didn’t say I need to come back here to me $20 for a meat lovers omelette with two kinds of frozen meat. Ehhh“

“Ate here twice in the past week on the way from Boston to Maryland and back. First night was on. Tuesday after 9:00 pm. Service could not have been more courteous, didn’t rush us at all, and had wonderful”diner fare” Turkey dinner and fish & chips. Liked it so much we routes aiurneeturn trip to stop here for dinner on the way back. Great open-faced roast beef, another fish & chips, and the “]waitress special”- grilled cheese with tomato and bacon. Service again was great , food very filling and tasty. Great family stop- something for everyone. Loved it!“

“I visited the Metuchen Diner with my dad on Thursday, March 27, and we both greatly enjoyed the experience. We were slightly worried about a lunch rush, going around noon (11:30 to be more precise), but the restaurant was spacious and not overly crowded. Parking is normally difficult with its small lot, but there is ample additional parking in the back, and on the day we visited we had no problem finding a spot. The service was great and very quick, only taking about 15 minutes from ordering to get our food. Our server Mariola was especially kind and cheerful, asking about our day and giving us some menu recommendations! Both my dad and I ordered off of the lunch special menu, which provided great value, giving us a cup of soup, as well as a dessert with our orders at a flat price of $13.50 (not bad for the rising prices in food across the country). I ordered the turkey Reuben, and my dad opted for the hickory chicken sandwich. They also have a set menu for seniors which offers the same deals as the lunch menu and is a nice option for older customers. I got Matzo Ball soup to start, and my dad chose split peas; both were good. The matzo ball was on the denser and drier side of the matzah ball soups I've had. Overall, the food was good, nothing exceptional, but very satisfactory and enjoyable. The portions, even for a lunch menu, were generous, and we both found ourselves taking home the rest of our meals. The coleslaw in the turkey Reuben instead of the traditional sauerkraut was light and refreshing. The diner was lively and very clean. The booth seating was comfortable (there is a good mixture of booths and tables throughout the restaurant), and we found it to be a nice place to talk and catch up. If you are in the area and in the mood for classic and affordable diner food, I recommend checking out the Metuchen Diner.“

“We visited the Park Ave Diner as part of the Somerset Patriots fun diner passport event. We’re almost done, with 2 to go!!
We were welcomed and shown a table right away, our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food came out fast, fresh and hot. There’s a large menu, with lots of choices, including healthy ones (and fun drinks!).
The diner is accessible ♿️, with ramps and lots of room between tables. Plenty of parking. Young people near our table were respected and well served!
Beautiful cakes and baked goods.
Truly enjoyed our lunch.“

“"No seed oils, grass-fed beef, grass-fed dairy, pastured raised eggs, scratch kitchen," says the Skylark Diner website. Based on the first-rate meals we enjoyed the other night, I think this is honest. I've gotten so used to just-okay cuisine served at the plethora of just-okay restaurants, I can vouch for that scratch kitchen claim, as Skylark reminded me of just how good food can taste. We shall return.
Skylark's on-line reservation form offered nothing before 6:30 in the evening. But when we arrived, many tables were open, so I don't see why we could not have made it 6:00, which is what I'd would've preferred. Next time, I'll just call.
A tip of the hat for Skylark's policy of discounting the bill by 3% if you pay in cash. Why don't all retail establishments offer this? It ought to be the law. Restaurants and stores that charge the same for payment in cash or credit card make more money if you pay with the former, as they don't have to fork over a cut to the banks issuing the latter.“
