“I had a Bacon Egg and Cheese on a toasted sesame bagel with ketchup and pepper. It was okay. I think I would have preferred more "meat" in the bagel, but I think it's not different than the other bagel places in the area. This place only takes cash, so be sure to bring some or use their on site ATM. Their grill was open later than other local spots on a Sunday, which was a plus. The staff are friendly. They offer drinks, chips and some pastries as well.“
“This place was a major win! Wanted to try a new place for breakfast and found this after a quick google search. Decided to try after reading the reviews and it did not disappoint! Greeted promptly by friendly staff. Decor was very warm and inviting. Food was amazing and so was the service. This is hands down my new go to place for breakfast!“
“Bettina was a great server! We were seated quickly, we were greeted quickly. Our entrees came out promptly and the steaks were cooked to order. She checked in on us to make sure we were happy with our food. Great service all around! Bathrooms were also very clean.“
“The food is very good. But what is even better is the owner Chris. He takes his business very seriously. Each time I go in to pick my food up I observe him speaking with the customers and making sure that everything is running smooth. He is very approachable and friendly. So if you have a special request for your food you can be assured he will make sure it's taken care of.“
“Great hog dogs w a great view of the Appalachian mountains. Great spot to pick up a quick meal or snack.Parking: Plenty of room to park. I happened to go on a super busy evening and there was still plenty of parking. If too much there a lawn across the way for cars to park. Parking isn't an issue.“
“A decent local place with nice river side seating during warmer weather months. Selection is good, staff is friendly, and the place gets packed on weekend nights. A particularly nice option for locals in this slightly more rural area of NJ.“
“Home to their signature veal chop, this establishment located at a strip mall off of Minnisink Road in Totowa is where a couple of my friends and I were looking for a new place to try our Sunday dinner and happily ended up at Robert's Scratch Kitchen. Reservations are highly recommended and easily done with OpenTable. Upon arrival, the interior was elegant without being too stiff or stuffy. We were graciously greeted by the host, and so began our delicious dining experience. We were seated within a few minutes. The menu consisted of a variety of Italian, seafood, steak, pork, and veal dishes that changed with the seasons. The use of an iPad to show the rotated specials was a novel idea. For appetizers, we decided to share the fried calamari, stuffed mushrooms, burrata eggplant, and crab cake. As our entrees, we opted for Rigatoni, consisting of fresh pasta, crumbled Italian sausage, peas, crushed red pepper, pink sauce, shaved parmesan, Linguini and Clams, Branzino, and Short Rib Pasta. Complimentary warm bread with butter started our meal. Being a “scratch kitchen," the food was served and made with the freshest ingredients, meaning that there were no frozen or processed foods used in preparing meals for patrons. The food was delicious, and the portions were plentiful. Throughout the meal, the staff, including our servers Danielle and Juan, were attentive without being excessive and did a great job of making sure we were all comfortable. The dinner price was fair for a nice, quality meal. The fact that it is also a BYOB is a bonus. There are a lot of really good restaurants in this area, but this has to be one of the best, so we can recommend this place.“
“We got takeout tonight and everything was so good! Lobster egg roll appetizer, Grandma's stuffed pepper with angel hair pasta, burger of the day (Big Apple) and short ribs with side of potato gnocchi (instead of fries). Satisfying and plain old delish. Placed order over phone since some dietary issues and hostess was so polite and nice to deal with!“
“After a long overnight shift at the hospital I stopped in the nearest breakfast spot on google. I like to support small owned businesses because usually you receive good quality service and that’s what I encountered when coming in this morning. I had the bacon egg and cheese on a roll and a coffee. The sandwich was delicious, and the coffee was just that. Coffee. If you’re in a rush first thing in the morning be sure to give yourself time because they take they’re time to prep the food but in a good way overall I was satisfied and will be back again.“
“This is a fantastic deli. The selection is phenomenal. The food is all tasty and fresh. They have a lot of turnover so their cold cuts are always fresh. Today I got the DJ - turkey, avocado, tomato, mixed greens, herb mayo on multigrain bread. It did not disappoint. The bread was soft and yummy. You can taste the herbs in the mayo. Tomato and greens were crisp and not wilted at all. All do the sandwiches come with a very generous pile of potato chips and a pickle spear. If you want you can sub in carrot and celery sticks - which I did. It's a nice option. They have a lovely area with tables to eat in. I had envy today when I saw a bowl of delicious looking steel cut oatmeal heaping with berries, raisins, nuts and granola go out. I wanted that! And the graham cracker and cinnamon bun coffee flavors in the urns also tempted me but unfortunately i had already had more than enough coffee for the rest of the world to deal with today. I don't live in the area so I only get here when I come for my haircut nearby. But I do was closer because I would be here all the time!“
“The Red Barn has been around for years ! It,s like stepping back in time into a place that all the locals love and not so locals too! The Wait staff are all very personable and you can easily strike up a nice conversation ,The chef in the back sometimes pops his head over the wooden barn door like Mr Ed looking at the faces of the people enjoying their home cooked meals ! They have daily specials like comfort foods for winter such as pot roast or whatever the cooks decides for the day ! Instead of a bell the chef gives a whistle when an order is up adding to that whole vibe of yesteryear ! This place has an old charm to it ...Nothing Modern here Just some heavy wooden benches and tables that just may have been used by the revolutionary infantries that roamed these parts of Towaco in the mid 1700,s .haha, Im guessing that the decor is original from whenever they first opened and feels like going to a place that has been open for many years and has stayed the test of time !You gotta be doing something right and like i said if feels very down homey when you step foot over the threshold ! Great food and service , just remember this place does get packed around lunchtime and i believe they have seating for at least 80 to 100 people but theres never a wait and you will be seated or you can always sit at the counter as i normally do where you can see all the action as it happens and watch for the chef i now call Mr Ed pop his head over the wooden barn door ! Lots of fun“
“I have been curious about this restaurant for a while since I pass by it whenever I go hiking at Harriman. A few weeks ago my hiking partner and I went there for dinner and loved the food and the service was great. A week later I arranged for a group of 10 family members to have dinner there before attending a cocktail reception next door at Valley Rock Inn. Again the service was prompt and friendly, and everyone enjoyed their meals. I look forward to returning.Parking: Commuter lot in the rear is open to all in the evening.“
“I love the food, drinks, and atmosphere. The first few times we sat at the bar, and now we got to sit outside with the lake view and it was perfect! So nice and peaceful to enjoy a beautiful view while having dinner. Really yummy cocktails, good eats, and great service each time. I can't wait to keep coming back for outdoor dining.“
“This place has excellent food and amazing drinks to go along with its awesome atmosphere. It has 2 sides to the restaurant, a dining area, and an awesome bar area with TV's everywhere & tables where you can also sit and eat as well. It is like a Mini Hard Rock Cafe with a ton of classic rock & roll memorabilia & great music. Forgot to mention live music after dinner hours too. Great experience. We will go back there again for sure“
“The food is awesome. It is very fresh. I went right when it opened and I got a little meal for $5. I was so shocked because I haven't had that price in years! The owner is super kind. The place looks old but very clean. Also there is way more stores surrounding that area now. I live in New York so Im definitely going to travel there again to have a joyful time enjoying some authentic food.❤️“
“So refreshing! An Asian restaurant that offers a little atmosphere! Take out but also a few tables nestled between the live plant walls!!Food is “over the top” delicious! Perfect amount of spice and super fresh!Great find ! Check it out!!“
“Great hot dogs, fresh buns and a good selection of soft drinks. It's only counter service and take out, but the folks that work there are first class. They have some picnic tables outside if you wanna not eat in your car which makes for a fun little experience. They also have knishes, which makes them more of a NYC experience.“
“LOCAL GEM. I challenge you to find a better restaurant burger anywhere! These guys put a lot of love and thought into what they do. Brioche bun, but not just any common brioche bun. The perfect one for a juicy hamburger. Plus thick cut, flavorful, bacon. And a thick creamy slice of American Cheese (Note: $2 OFF each hamburger when NY teams are playing. Plus $5 OFF on wings!). The Sweet Potato fries were perfect. Fries and Onion Rings good (nothing special BUT solid and not greasy). The Long Island Iced Tea was one of the best I’ve had. Fun Localized Drink Menu. Service was attentive and patient. Limited Seating so best for groups between 4-6 people max. 1 Pool Table. Patio Dining Available. I must try. Shout out to Bella for taking such great care of us.“
“Atmosphere and ambiance are truly comfy and cozy-rustic vibes overall. I had 4 different occasions and get togethers where I came here with friends and nursing colleagues. We were all impressed at the ambiance. The services was responsive and alert to our requests. The quality of food was pretty spot-on tasty. There is plenty of ample parking (private), not Valet! Also, an outdoor seating area for the spring to fall time that is pretty private and cozy. One of my favorite restaurants in Jersey. Feel good vibes, for sure.“
“An awesome super friendly place to come. Welcomes everyone. Very unique place. The grill has a Caribbean flare, with curried onion burgers and stewed chicken. They make their rum punches on site and they're refreshing and taste authentic. They have many events and lots of live music. The bar is ridiculously clean. Can't really go wrong here, whether you're flying solo or running with friends. Can even bring kids earlier in the night. If you like cheese steak get the J*** cheese steak! Crazy good comfort food that one.And the service is super friendly!“
“Came here on a friends suggestion and it did not disappoint!! It's a small place with a nice bar and some tables to the side. We went early so it was quiet but it was great! They have some local beers which we always love to see small business supporting each other. We settled on some drinks and went over their menu which was impressive. We settled on the eggplant tower special,I ordered pesto salmon, hubby had the clam chowder soup (the size of the bowl was enough for two people) and the lemon sole special with broccoli rabe. There was not one thing we didn't enjoy. Everything was very fresh, not laced with salt and cooked with love. Absolutely delicious!! We were so happy with our choices . I would have given five stars but I have to say it was WAY too cold in there, I had my coat on the entire time so I wasn't really comfortable. I heard the bartender say it was 59 in there. I get the kitchen gets hot but you they need to make sure the customers are comfortable. We honestly would have stayed for one more drink but I have some health issues that get really bad when I'm that cold. I also wish they would have said the eggplant in the tower was breaded . Not that I didn't like it (so tasty) but I am on a diet so i probably would have chosen a salad instead. Place is great and very clean. This will stay on our list if favorite local spots for sure. The prices were very reasonable as well“
“Amazing food, great customer service and very clean restaurant. I get food here at least once a week and have never had any problems. If you miss Libbys Lunch on McBride Ave, this is the place for you. The owner was the head cook at Libbys for many years so its just as good if not better, especially since its Halal!“
“Looks like a very regular Chinese takeout at first glance, but that’s where it stops. Food here is so good. Not the greasy, soggy basic, Chinese takeout you’d expect. Food tastes super fresh and the prices are very reasonable. I’ll definitely be back!“
“The Smoke Rise inn is the neighborhood's best kept secret This charming building has as much history as it does ambiance It is believed to be a private establishment due to it being behind the Smoke rise community gates but it is open to the public When you walk into the bar area you can't help feeling like you are walking into the tv show cheers Everyone does know your name or will by the time you leave The staff and the usual patrons are extremely friendly and love meeting new folks The bar room is charming with stone and wood walls and a cozy fireplace on the upper seating area There is dining in the gazebo room which is equally as lovely and a bit quieter The food is delicious and the drinks are quite generous The Inn can also accommodate weddings in their ballroom or private parties So if you haven't checked out this fabulous eatery come drop in but make sure you make a reservation on the weekend“
“This place is an unassuming gem. And it feels intentional. From the outside it looks like a biker bar. And yes, it's a bar, And it even has a motorhead theme. But the classic automobile rear bench seats facing each other and the outboard boat-motor high-tables are super fun. Best of all they have a great chef in the kitchen. Every dish and cocktail I've ordered was creative and delicious.Parking: There's an enormous lot across the street.“
“My whole family may have found their new favorite restaurant. You won’t find any food pics in this review because even my picky 10 year old finished her entire meal ! All our dishes were delicious. The restaurant is amazingly clean and decorated so nicely. Service was outstanding - I can’t emphasize how nice everyone there was. Must try location!Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are not hard to findParking: There is no difficulty in finding parkingKid-friendliness: My picky ten year old was able to eat her entire meal!“
“A pleasant and healthy atmosphere, I loved waiting for the new year with families and nice people, what I visited, they worked and the owner was very helpful and treats people like their families, nice music, delicious food, everything for my taste, very pleasant, I give it a 100“
“The food at Mack's is phenomenal. Every time we go, we really enjoy the food we've ordered. Sometimes it makes me wonder why they aren't more packed. You can usually get a table immediately regardless of when you go. The service has always been fantastic as well. The atmosphere though I don't believe is on the same level as the food. It feels a little dark, and is not the most inviting. They do have TVs behind the bar, but I would suggest this place more as a good sit down meal than a sports bar. All in all, I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a great meal, and offer a suggestion to try the specials, they are always good.“
“Feels like a traditional British pub in West Milford. Great diversity of food/amazing specials - and a great "core" menu. The quality of their meats is amazing, and they have the tenderest steak sandwich I have ever had! Worth the trip, just for their Seafood Bisque. If they have it as a special, I'M THERE!“
“This is my favorite place for great home-cooked food! Everything they make us top drawer and the staff is always attentive, warm and welcoming! It's everything you could ask for! Always looking for a reason to go back here and relax...“
“If you like Irish pubs with solid food and friendly bartenders, then this will do nicely. I will admit the tap list was a bit puzzling (still a few Octoberfest beers and a pumpkin beer at the end of April???). Other than that, I have no complaints.“
“Downtown grill is one of my favorite places why would you go to Wendys and get a burger for 13$ when u can go get a better salad for 9$ my dad is so lovely and caring and when ever he comes home he brings a yummy sandwich for me so if u hate downtown grill u are an idiot❤️“
“My husband n I, both LOVE this place. We go there for our breakfast on every other weekend. The people that work there are beautiful souls, outgoing n down to earth. The music they play its from the BEST ERA U WOULD WANT TO LIVE 70'S, 80'S, 90'S... LOVE IT HERE!“
“I have never been to the location but I always order from yellas….. I have to tell you that it’s waaayyyyyy by 100 percent better than smash burgers and it’s fresh the buns and bread are super soft…. Fries are amazing and onion ring taste like no other this is the spot to order from thanks for making my food sooooo delicious ? I would take a photo of my food but it’s all gone ❤️“
“Very good food for a great price! The ice latte (not pictured) was incredible to the point that we'd stop by just to grab some coffee to go! The ambiance was super friendly and clean!! Our waitress was also very sweet! Definitely coming back“
“Just visited Gourmet Express Market for the first time to order empanadas for a party. The owners are so nice and helpful. They even gave me an empanada to try and I can see why the reviews are so good. The empanada was delicious. Can’t wait to serve the rest to my family and friends tonight!!!“
“J&M Grill makes delicious burgers and soups! They are always so fresh and they take the time to make the burger the way you like it. The soups and chili in the winter are so good to warm you up! The staff is super nice and super quick service!“
“This is only a review based on multiple deliveries through Uber eats. I really hope the owner responds to this review because, even though we order from Underdog often and like their food, we have a huge gripe with their cheeseburger sliders. But before I get there, what I do like about the place: they're really fast, prices are reasonable, the wings are great, and the portions are fair. We've tried a variety of items, including the filet mignon, and found them all to be delicious. Now about the sliders. These cheeseburger sliders are supposed to come with pickles, onions and cheese, and no matter how many times we order them, they are always screwed up. They almost never come with pickles or onions. And if we give them instructions when getting multiple orders of sliders to leave off the cheese on one order, they will leave it off on both orders. They never follow instructions. Just the other evening, for example, we again ordered the sliders, with no cheese. But, they were delivered with no cheese, no pickles and no onions. So we basically just got plain bare burgers. So disappointing, can you please work with your kitchen to make the sliders correctly and the order notes? It's really disappointing to keep ordering them and not have them prepared correctly.“
“Best pizza, sandwiches and salads around by far. Hard to understand why so many people frequent other places nearby and don’t go here! Please go support this guy and his work. All fresh and delicious.I NEED this place to stick around, believe me if you know good stuff (like I do) you will love it.“
“Ya know... I'm not here for the pizza. Sure, I'm definitely here for the wings challenge and you can see that I'm not one to lose a food challenge (:, but I can also tell you those were some of the most delicious wings I've ever ingested. Nice and smoky. Slow burn. So well done. I got myself a falafel platter to go and... waiting for the newspaper to interview the FIRST EVER WINGS CONTEST WINNER I ended up dining in. Homemade rice and falafel. Quality. Such friendly people, such fun. Plenty of room here. So I'm gonna go with this is a win for Middle Eastern in Boonton... and if they ever want to make a pizza with this hot sauce........“
“We enjoy to go out. Last night we came to this delicious restaurant which friends told us about. We enjoyed a lovely evening there with high-qulity cooking and an efficient team and a great cuisine. We added this restaurant in our phone list and we shall no doubt return soon. We warmly recommend.“
“Vegetarian options: Salads and soups and whatever the chef will add onto the menu for the arghhhhhhhhhh Veggie nuts!Kid-friendliness: This is not a playground ,it,s a family restaurant /Bar , They have a menu for the kids ,You want a playground take your kids to a nice park ! People come here to eat and drink and mingle with friends and don,t want to hear your kids screaming and carrying on , If you can't control your kids and their running and screaming all over the place ,A leprechaun will come out of the back and beat them silly with his Shalalie and the locals will use them for Dartboard practice !Wheelchair accessibility: park right in front“
“When I have a craving for a Sabrett, this is my go to place. It helps it is only 2 towns away so it is very convenient. I’ve only gotten the hot dogs here so I can’t comment on anything else, but I really enjoy a couple dogs with mustard and red onions.Their dogs have always been good with the typical snap. The rolls are fresh and the red onions plentiful. I enjoy these toppings so much that I haven’t tried the many others they have on the list, but I’m sure they are good.Is the weather is nice they have picnic tables or is it’s cold/rainy you can eat in your car right outside and’s listen to music or a podcast.“
“Rails is a premier dining establishment in Morris County. Have done take out a few times - and loved the food. Took my parents for dinner on a Saturday night. I could find no flaw from start to finish. Service was warm and attentive. Everything we ate was delicious. The filet was tender and cooked perfectly. My wife absolutely loved the ribs - and they give you an entire rack! My only regret is we didn't save room for dessert, but that gives us another reason to return soon. Five stars well earned by Rails.“
“We absolutely love this place, from the food, to the cozy atmosphere, to the friendly staff and excellent service. It's perfect whether you're here on a date, or for a meal with family or friends. If you don't want a full sit-down meal, you can always find a convivial gathering around the happenin' bar. The menu consists of popular Italian and American favorites like chicken, veal, pastas, salads, steak, seafood, burgers/sandwiches, and a well-rounded selection of appetizers. Nothing trendy but all extremely solid options and consummately prepared. You're greeted with a plate of warm bread and black olives when you sit down. The house wines are quite good and a gracious pour. (A wine shop attached to the restaurant is run by the same people.) The steak is perfection - flawlessly seared to my requested medium rare, and seasoned just right. I've also really enjoyed the fish and chicken dishes here. The tilapia is so tender. Even the sides are outstanding - I couldn't believe how good the sauteed spinach in the chicken saltimbocca was! And the fries are amazing - piping hot and crispy, and perfectly seasoned as well. We've also had the seafood paella which is full of seafood but more of a cioppino with its tomato-based broth than a true paella which has a dry texture, but is tasty nonetheless. We'll be back often to eat our way through the rest of the menu, I'm sure. A happy hour menu is offered from 4-6p on Tue/Wed/Thu. As mentioned, they have a great bar, and the changing seasonal cocktail offerings are delightful. The staff are warm and wonderful, and we were made to feel welcomed each time. Mike the owner came up to introduce himself the very first time we came here. You can tell they take care to know their customers, and seem to have a loyal local clientele (one of whom recommended the Tavern to us). Our meal was perfectly coursed - never rushed nor too slow. I noticed our server discreetly checking on us several times to make sure we were done with our appetizers before the entrees were brought out in impeccable timing. A small table lamp illuminates the menu without harshing the romantic mellow. The unobtrusive noise level means you can actually have a conversation without shouting across the table. These are details, but the sum of these parts differentiates a good restaurant experience from a great one.“
