This is a pleasant restaurant if you want something to eat when you're visiting the museum.
There wasn't a big selection of items on the menu but what they served was good. I had the seafood chowder which was really good. My wife had the bratwurst which she found a bit too gamey for her but I thought it was fine.
If you can get a table near the windows you'll be rewarded with some lovely views down over St. John's.

Great place to have a nice view of the harbour.
This wonderful and spectacularly located restaurant was recommended to me by numerous people who are familiar with the St. John's dining scene. The coffee on offer was a standard drip blend, but given this is not a coffee focussed café, It was robust and delicious.

Red Oak offers a great dining experience with its excellent food and stunning views overlooking downtown St. John’s and the ocean. While reservations can't be made, the restaurant is often busy, especially around lunchtime. Customers highly recommend the Warm Root Cellar Salad, Fish Cakes, Seafood Chowder, and the Tea service with multiple desserts for sharing. The staff is helpful, professional, and courteous. The restaurant is kid-friendly and wheelchair accessible, with paid parking available in The Rooms visitors parking lot. The portions are decent, and the Seafood Stew is hearty, though some may prefer less spice. The cod is a standout dish.
