“We were in Carlsbad to see the Caverns and Thelma’s was close to Carlsbad RV park. This is a unique experience from food, atmosphere and service! We had our dog Bailey with us and the owner went back in the kitchen and made her a complimentary beef patty! (Later brought out bacon!!!) They are such warm and caring people. Her sister in law waited on us like we were family.I wish more businesses would adopt this approach!“

“I went for the first time during spring break and they have the best Ruben sandwich ever, there waffle fries are perfectly seasoned and the way they make there milkshakes are amazing. The staff is amazing and really nice and the setting is really unique. I would recommend this place to anyone staying or driving through Carlsbad NM, 10/10.“

“We are not from the area but were visiting this past weekend. We wanted to try some local things so my sons and I stopped in for snow cones. I had the pomegranate and have to say it was the best snow cone I’ve ever had! Just the right amount of sweet and tart. Will definitely visit again when in the area!“

“First thing you should know is they give you a LOT of food for the value. Be prepared for delicious leftovers. The brisket plate was amazing. The brisket itself was cooked perfectly... tender, juicy, smokey flavor, smoke ring, and a tasty bark. The BBQ sauce is unique; it seemed to be a fusion of traditional BBQ sauce with some Mexican salsa influence. It was delicious. The plate came with two sides, a pickled jalapeno, and diced onions. We chose Spanish rice and potato salad for the sides. We really liked the Spanish rice, especially mixed with a little of their salsa roja (extra charge). The potato salad was above average, definitely homemade. We also got smoked pork ribs, smoked chicken, and armadillo eggs which are jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese then wrapped with spiced hamburger, bacon, and BBQ sauce. The pork ribs were some of the best I have eaten, and I have had a lot of BBQ. The ribs were huge, almost the size of beef ribs. The ribs were cooked perfectly, just shy of fall-off-the-bone. The BBQ sauce and the ribs were my favorite. The pinto beans were also super tasty. The armadillo eggs were also some of the best I've tried. The owners, David and Beatrice (Bee), were super friendly.“
