“Five stars. And honestly… I’m confused. Why is it that Dartmouth and Dartmouth Crossing Swiss Chalets feel like ongoing science experiments, while Bedford is out here quietly nailing it?

Serious question.

Main Street Dartmouth has had so many health inspection issues it’s basically part of the lore at this point. Dartmouth Crossing? A recurring disappointment—complete with what can only be described as a fetish for mixing warm and cool white lighting in the same room. It’s like eating rotisserie chicken inside a lighting aisle at Home Depot.

And yet… Bedford Swiss Chalet is consistently clean, calm, well-run, and—somehow—pleasant.

Food? Hot, fresh, and exactly what Swiss Chalet is supposed to be.

Dining room? Clean. Like… actually clean.

Staff? Friendly, efficient, and not visibly traumatized by the dinner rush.

It feels like someone in Bedford cracked a code the other locations either lost or never had. Better management? Better systems? Better vibes? No idea. But it’s working.

Whatever Bedford is doing differently—keep doing it. And maybe send a delegation up the road.

“Our server was named Shine, he was awesome! I give 4 stars for food only because the portion size was small for price. Pub atmosphere, yet kid friendly. It was extremely busy when we got there, we were seated at the last available table, got our food quickly, I ordered a ocean pearl cocktail, delicious blueberry “girly drink,” the table next to us was audibly giving the servers a hard time, and they (the servers) still all showed perfect customer service skills. Will be coming back!! If I wasn’t broke I would have tipped 100%“

“As a person who travels alone a lot, I want to share my experiences about the awesome staff and great food that Le Rouge has to offer. While the menu is small it has something for everyone. Excellent apps , the most delicious steaks, seafood and the best Chocolate Cake. As a returning customer on the first night the Seth waiter /bartender ( recognized me and commented that I was here for my annual show. A year later he remembers my wine choice recommends a the best choice of a steak and of course my dessert taking great care in making sure my allergy to shrimp was never a threat. On my second night, again he recommends the Le Rouge burger that arrives hot and delicious and he tells me that my first choice of nachos contains a fish sauce that might contains shrimp he probably served dozens of customers but still remembered my allergy. I greatly appreciate that the staff was friendly with small talk and checking up me Seth and his new buddy Charbel were awesome to watch as they mixed up a constant array of drinks. With a great atmosphere, delicious food and supreme staff I give Le Rouge a 12 out 10 . I ate at Le Rouge for 6 nights and every meal was awesome 🤩“

“We had excellent service on Canada Day 2024 with our friendly waitress Pal. She was very helpful and kept checking on our party of 12 ages from 3 to 80, to make sure everyone had what they wanted. She put treats on the Robot and had the children go get their treats off the tray on it, which was a highlight for them. We could tell she enjoys waitressing because she does it to perfection. “This was my first time at The Cannery, Bedford Row in downtown Halifax. I was greeted by friendly staff and my first thought was of the cleanliness of the restaurant and the staff were sharply dressed. The ambiance was chic and it was decorated in classy high end furnishings. I choose a both, yet still had a great view of Halifax harbour. The Braised Short Rib Pappardelle was cooked flawlessly and the sauce was tasty delicious. I look forward to the steak on my next visit. Mixologist Abi is amazing and pours the best tasting cocktails the city has to offer. His drinks please both the eye and the taste buds as he has a few tricks up his sleeve. “We went for lunch and ordered our food, then waited a long time — close to 45 minutes. Eventually, a staff member came over and explained that our order never reached the kitchen due to a computer error. That was frustrating.
They immediately offered to charge us half the bill. After the meal, they apologized again and gave us a $25 gift card for a future visit. I really respect how they handled it. They didn’t try to brush it off or wait for us to complain. They owned the mistake and took action right away to fix it. A+ customer service.“
