“Our family doesn't go out to eat but when we do the top choice always seems to be here. The food is delicious the servers are friendly and quick and the portions are generous. Over the years we have visited many times and never had a bad experience or left feeling unsatisfied. For thai food in NS this is our spot. Big fan of the Pad-see-u and garlic beef, they also make phenomenal thai iced teas.“

Thanks to the entire Canteen family - and I say FAMILY purposefully as you feel the family atmosphere as soon as you arrive - for hosting our team for dinner last week. We booked out the whole restaurant and they did just what we hoped for: Maritime hospitality, wonderful, genuine service and knock-your-socks off food. The team from across Canada went bananas over the Crobster sandwich. The special welcome from the owners was a lovely touch. The guests raved all the way back across the harbour on the ferry about the wonderful meal from start to finish. “The 5 Fishermen restaurant was amazing! The food, the atmosphere and the staff were all great. The manager even went to every table to check on the customers…to me, that is over and above service. We had the prime rib that was melt in your mouth fantastic. I know it will definitely be on our list of places to eat when we return to Halifax.“

Having the chef come out with the waiter to explain what was in each dish / course was also fun. They took extra care because of allergies too! “We had an outstanding dining experience at The Press Gang that was enhanced by our server, Lindsey. We started with oysters and yellow-fin tuna. Both dishes were scrumptious. Our mains were the Tuscan Atlantic Salmon and Seafood Risotto. Both were excellent and Lindsay suggested the perfect wine pairing. This was by far one of the best dining experiences we have had!“

He had everything packed so well for us. He took time to write down instructions for me and explain them for me. I was blown away at how great the customer service was. “We had our small wedding group here for dinner post ceremony. It was the perfect space (the Rhino room) and fit all 27 of us. Booking was easy, the staff and food was fantastic and delicious. And they were so accommodating to our guests with allergies. Cannot recommend it enough!“

“Grabbed a table on the outdoor deck around sunset last Saturday and the view of the harbor was honestly worth the trip alone. Went with the seafood chowder and it was rich and packed with fresh haddock, way better than I expected for a spot so close to the tourist docks. Our server was genuinely friendly and knew the menu inside out, even pointed us toward a local beer that paired well with the fish and chips. Ended up staying almost two hours just soaking in the atmosphere and watching the boats come in, already planning to bring friends back next weekend.“
