“This was my first time at The Cannery, Bedford Row in downtown Halifax. I was greeted by friendly staff and my first thought was of the cleanliness of the restaurant and the staff were sharply dressed. The ambiance was chic and it was decorated in classy high end furnishings. I choose a both, yet still had a great view of Halifax harbour. The Braised Short Rib Pappardelle was cooked flawlessly and the sauce was tasty delicious. I look forward to the steak on my next visit. Mixologist Abi is amazing and pours the best tasting cocktails the city has to offer. His drinks please both the eye and the taste buds as he has a few tricks up his sleeve. “I recently tried the Swiss Chelt Rotisserie Chicken, and it did not disappoint! The chicken was perfectly cooked—juicy and tender on the inside, with a crispy, flavorful skin that added just the right amount of crunch. The seasoning was spot on, giving the meat a savory and delicious taste without being overpowering.

The fries were equally impressive, hot and crispy, with a satisfying golden-brown exterior. They complemented the chicken well, making for a great overall meal. I left feeling full and satisfied, and I’ll definitely be back for more. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for a flavorful and hearty meal!“

Vegetarian options: The mushroom burger was completely vegan, I believe. There was a delicious beet and grapefruit salad and very tasty brussels sprouts.“

“I have been coming here for a number of years. Drive thru and dine in. Clean facility, lots of room, courteous and friendly staff, fast served made to order. Always a please to sit in and enjoy a meal.

Try the Buffalo chicken combo. Best sandwich I've ever had that is fast food, it's restaurant tier.

“Johnny’s Snack Bar is right at the top of my list of favourite places to eat in Halifax. It’s a true North End gem that’s been family run for over 40 years ! You can feel the love in every part of it. The food is consistently perfection, no matter what you order. From old school flat top burgers and breakfasts to daily specials, pork chops, fried chicken, and their incredible pan-fried haddock, everything is done right, every time.

The atmosphere is classic old school diner feel & always busy. Chris and Tasso, along with their sweet and hardworking parents, make you feel welcome the moment you walk in. The service is genuine, the portions are generous, and the prices are more than fair.

Although street parking for Johnny’s has been terribly affected by City installing of bike lanes, you can find parking at the forum.

This place has it all, comfort, value, flavour, and heart. If you haven’t been, go. You’ll understand why it’s such a beloved local spot.“

“You guys really need to step it up when it comes to consistency. I'm so tired of paying good money for food and being disappointed. You used to be my go to for everything and I keep trying and hoping that things have improved but one week I'll get a large donair and it's a large and tastes good, next week ill order a large donair and get a small burnt one. same thing with donair subs. I just paid $15 for a large donair, it was tiny and the sauce on it taste like milk not at all like donair sauce. Done with spending good money and getting something different every time I won't try again that's for sure.“
