“Holy smokes. Where do I start? Thanks to the entire Canteen family - and I say FAMILY purposefully as you feel the family atmosphere as soon as you arrive - for hosting our team for dinner last week. We booked out the whole restaurant and they did just what we hoped for: Maritime hospitality, wonderful, genuine service and knock-your-socks off food. The team from across Canada went bananas over the Crobster sandwich. The special welcome from the owners was a lovely touch. The guests raved all the way back across the harbour on the ferry about the wonderful meal from start to finish. It’s a lovely space that is not pretentious and puts an emphasis on fantastic food and exemplary service, with a genuine smile. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“

“The food was outstanding. I focused on local items where possible. Oysters, that I eat with no trimmings, were fresh and tasty and perfect with Lightfoot and Wolfville sparkling rose.
Staff were efficient and friendly, most importantly, non-intrusive; reading the customer (me) perfectly. A great place to eat. Would thoroughly recommend whether you are local or a visitor. Well done you!“

“A Hidden Gem!

Reta's is a delightful spot where every dish bursts with flavor and the service is always warm and welcoming. From the first bite to the last, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. It's a quiet, cozy place that lets you truly enjoy your meal and the company you're with. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing dining experience with amazing food!

I wish the plating of the duck dish would be a bit different. We couldn't enjoy the sauce much without ordering the sourdough bread. Also if spoons were provided without asking as the sauces go to waste and we cannot enjoy them with the fork so the amazing sauces are wasted.“

A bit pricey (but we had the most expensive item on the menu), I also dont mind paying for quality food and service. Most places are expensive and they do not deliver excellence. We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious our meal was.

Portion sizes arent huge, which we appreciated as it left us feeling full but not like we were over stuff or being wasteful.

For dinner we had the NY striploin steak (4oz as we wanted dessert) with a red wine reduction sauce. Well.... Let me tell you, best steak ever! Vegetables and potatoes were cooked to perfection, plus the steaks came topped with garlic butter and huge portion of onions and mushrooms on the side made in the same garlic butter! The Keg used to be good, and we've been so disappointed the past few years, that were thrilled to find a place that can create a delicious meal for a fair price (comparative to other restaurants)

For dessert we each had a big piece of coconut cream pie, which was unbelievable.

Spent $170 overall with tax and tip included. Considering we eat out a couple times a year, this was very fair considering what we received.

The next morning we each had Eggs Benedict, which was also great!

“We had brunch and breakfast here over two days during our stay in Muir. The food and services were excellent. One minor problem was the poached eggs in Eggs Benedict and Banger and Hash were actually fried instead of poached, leaving in inside of the eggs almost overcooked. The manager kindly solved our complaint by waiving the two dishes and offering two dessert dishes on them. We really appreciated their hospitality.“

But what made our night is the incredible server we had who was both witty, charming, funny while also very professional. He made my parents and grandmother all smile and laugh which was really appreciated. “We went to Moxies for the very first time. We had fast service, staff was extremely nice. The food came quick and was absolutely delicious. I would definitely go back again.“

“Our server Sammy was so pleasant and attentive, she definitely made our experience nicer. The food was delicious as always, I never have a complaint when it comes to the service and food. The day we were in Im guessing the a/c must have been broken as it was very warm and uncomfortable. We left after our meal which was a shame because we would have stayed for dessert and more. It didn't help that it was a hot day as is. Aside from the a/c it was wonderful. Hopefully that gets situated sooner than later.“

“We used Grand Finales to cater our lunch event and it was perfect! Delivery was right on time, the food was hot and delicious.

“We came to the Milestone Public House and had a fantastic time.
Our waiter was nice, fast and helpful. The food was amazing. The curry chicken had perfectly balanced sauce, haddock was made just right, burrito bowl was tasty and satisfying, and candied bacon burger was simply amazing! Also try their hot apple cider, it warms you up, especially in those freezing April days.
And last but least desserts were absolutely delicious.

The wife made me haul a camper off of the highway, downtown to stop by - (I only agreed because it was Moxies) Service was a 10 star – food was a 10 star – drinks were a 10 star – this is probably the most consistent chain restaurant I have ever visited. “This was my first time at The Cannery, Bedford Row in downtown Halifax. I was greeted by friendly staff and my first thought was of the cleanliness of the restaurant and the staff were sharply dressed. The ambiance was chic and it was decorated in classy high end furnishings. I choose a both, yet still had a great view of Halifax harbour. The Braised Short Rib Pappardelle was cooked flawlessly and the sauce was tasty delicious. I look forward to the steak on my next visit. Mixologist Abi is amazing and pours the best tasting cocktails the city has to offer. His drinks please both the eye and the taste buds as he has a few tricks up his sleeve. “Something new to report Rhonda isnt very professional in her job she shouldnt be taking her actions out on others when someone complains about her actions making other uncomfortable. This person should be reprimended by the main office for doing so . If it wasn't for the kindness of the gentleman that collects the shopping carts I wouldn't even shop at this store. He is very polite helpful and takes the time to be friendly in everyway. I have heard that this women by the name Rhonda is very rude and disrespectful towards him and others of similar standings. I don't know the hrs he gets but maybe ask him if he would like 8 shifts rather than just being a fill in whenever the store staff think it s best to suit there agenda. Anyway thanks“

“Stopped in last Saturday afternoon after wandering the waterfront, and Heartwood immediately won me over with the warmest, most welcoming vibe I'd encountered all trip. I ordered the mushroom toast and it was genuinely one of the best things I ate during my whole time in Halifax, simple but perfectly done. The staff were so friendly and patient while I figured out what I wanted, clearly regulars love this spot too because there was a real community feel to the room. If you're visiting from out of province like I was, do not skip this place - it's the kind of cafe that makes you wish you lived nearby.“
