Thanks to the entire Canteen family - and I say FAMILY purposefully as you feel the family atmosphere as soon as you arrive - for hosting our team for dinner last week. We booked out the whole restaurant and they did just what we hoped for: Maritime hospitality, wonderful, genuine service and knock-your-socks off food. The team from across Canada went bananas over the Crobster sandwich. The special welcome from the owners was a lovely touch. The guests raved all the way back across the harbour on the ferry about the wonderful meal from start to finish. Cocktails are amazing, with unique, refined flavours. You will not be disappointed! It can get noisy, due to the folks who flock there for Sunday brunch, so a little extra sound-proofing might be nice, but it's great to see this a gem of a restaurant receive such a vibrant clientele!“

Reta's is a delightful spot where every dish bursts with flavor and the service is always warm and welcoming. From the first bite to the last, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. It's a quiet, cozy place that lets you truly enjoy your meal and the company you're with. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing dining experience with amazing food!

I wish the plating of the duck dish would be a bit different. We couldn't enjoy the sauce much without ordering the sourdough bread. Also if spoons were provided without asking as the sauces go to waste and we cannot enjoy them with the fork so the amazing sauces are wasted.“

A bit pricey (but we had the most expensive item on the menu), I also dont mind paying for quality food and service. Most places are expensive and they do not deliver excellence. We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious our meal was.

Portion sizes arent huge, which we appreciated as it left us feeling full but not like we were over stuff or being wasteful.

For dinner we had the NY striploin steak (4oz as we wanted dessert) with a red wine reduction sauce. Well.... Let me tell you, best steak ever! Vegetables and potatoes were cooked to perfection, plus the steaks came topped with garlic butter and huge portion of onions and mushrooms on the side made in the same garlic butter! The Keg used to be good, and we've been so disappointed the past few years, that were thrilled to find a place that can create a delicious meal for a fair price (comparative to other restaurants)

For dessert we each had a big piece of coconut cream pie, which was unbelievable.

Spent $170 overall with tax and tip included. Considering we eat out a couple times a year, this was very fair considering what we received.

The next morning we each had Eggs Benedict, which was also great!

But what made our night is the incredible server we had who was both witty, charming, funny while also very professional. He made my parents and grandmother all smile and laugh which was really appreciated. I always review each experience because with most any restaurant, whether it be Moxies or any restaurant – each experience changes but with Moxies, it is consistent.“

“This was my first time at The Cannery, Bedford Row in downtown Halifax. I was greeted by friendly staff and my first thought was of the cleanliness of the restaurant and the staff were sharply dressed. The ambiance was chic and it was decorated in classy high end furnishings. I choose a both, yet still had a great view of Halifax harbour. The Braised Short Rib Pappardelle was cooked flawlessly and the sauce was tasty delicious. I look forward to the steak on my next visit. Mixologist Abi is amazing and pours the best tasting cocktails the city has to offer. His drinks please both the eye and the taste buds as he has a few tricks up his sleeve. “Something new to report Rhonda isnt very professional in her job she shouldnt be taking her actions out on others when someone complains about her actions making other uncomfortable. This person should be reprimended by the main office for doing so . If it wasn't for the kindness of the gentleman that collects the shopping carts I wouldn't even shop at this store. He is very polite helpful and takes the time to be friendly in everyway. I have heard that this women by the name Rhonda is very rude and disrespectful towards him and others of similar standings. I don't know the hrs he gets but maybe ask him if he would like 8 shifts rather than just being a fill in whenever the store staff think it s best to suit there agenda. Anyway thanks“

“Finally tried here on an overcast Saturday in January 2026 (had been to the Quinpool location a few times years ago, never the Hydrostone location, and kept forgetting about their latest move to the old enVie location on Agricola). Arrived maybe about 11:30 and was the only customer at that point. Greeted immediately by staff and told I could sit wherever, so took a table in the small lower section when you first walk in. Cute, little casual spot. Seating total capacity I would guess could be for 25-30, including other dining section, up a few steps, lots of natural light coming in. I had looked at the online menu and seen a few great-looking brunch options. When I got there, there were no brunch items on the hard copy menu, but the staff said he could custom make anything I wanted, so suggested the Bean Burrito with a scrambled egg added. That sounded good to me, and it was! The plate arrived with a side salad, serving of Sriracha, corn chips, scoop of flavored rice with salsa on top, with a hot grilled delicious burrito that had lots of visible spinach. I was very full at the end. Got to chatting with the staff over the course of the meal, when two other customers arrived. Very friendly owner, it turns out. I definitely will be back to try a lot more of their menu! (FYI vegetarian restaurant with vegan options).“
