“Was looking for a place for dinner while exploring downtown Halifax, and decided to try this place because the prices looked reasonable and it was highly rated. Small restaurant, looks cute. Portion size is great. Sushi and sashimi was delicious and fresh. I was pleasantly surprised the beef udon came with marinated beef which was really good. Server was very attentive. As someone visiting from Calgary, it was great value considering the portion sizes. I definitely recommend eating here!“

“We went there on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Place wasn't very busy, so we didn't wait for a table, and food was served fairly fast!

We ordered Sakedon, Gyoza, one Toro nigiri special, and a Blue Mountain Roll. Everything was delicious. Portions, flavours and texture were great not to mention that their plating was very impressive and authentic. Price for us (2 adults, and one kid) was $72 after taxes. Dunno, what mayority of people except to pay at a Japanese restaurant but to me it was definitely worth it!

Umai's interior deco is very minimal and very pleasing. A few lovely pictures and that's it. Beautiful!

Their washroom was extremely clean (some people might not care about this but to me cleanliness in a washroom says a lot about the place). Anyway, not only was it super clean it was very also nicely decorated. Only thing it needs it's a diaper changer (Mom here).

Atmosphere was also good. It's a very nice spot for couples, for families, friends, and any type of reunions. It's on a plaza so, parking it's easy and it's also wheelchair accessible!

Service was great. Server asked us about any allergies after ordering and was always very attentive.

Don't have that many photos cuz I was paying more attention to my crazy baby, lol. But I can't wait to go back again and hopefully will remember to take more then.

“It was absolutely incredible.
I had the nigiri combo, and every piece was seasoned to perfection. Easily the best sushi I’ve had here in Halifax.

I also ordered some tempura on the side, and it was freshly made
warm, crispy, and so satisfying.
I’m already looking forward to going back. Highly recommend!

“My new favorite sushi place in the city , a little hidden view from the street you come down some stairs and just order everything at the counter and sit after ( aka the servers wont take your order at the table but they do deliver the food at your table ) you pay upfront , it’s practical unless you have free room for desert.

We sat and the ambiance is like manga style with a lot a books in Japanese around us , dont get fooled by the decoration because the food is AMAZING trust me I have been to many fancy Japanese restaurants and this one is just as delicious ! We ordered a little bit of everything my personal opinion on the hot sushis ( smoke salmon ) not my cup of tea but my date loved it . And the seaweed salad very tasty, we almost got back again to the restaurant 2 days later because we loved it so much .

So guys if you are looking for a delicious sushi this is the place ! ( i am not even sponsoring this lol ) out of true enjoyment of a lovely night out“

“This is the best ramen shop in the province! We’ve been to every one we can find, and these guys take the cake! We drive all the way over from Eastern Passage, more often then I’d like to admit, just to get a bowl! We’ve been doing this since 2016 :) Try the Hokkaido ramen! “My first (of what is sure to be many) visit to this place. I didn't do all you can eat, I just ordered a la carte for lunch today. I got the beef tataki, takoyaki and chicken karaage. Everything was delicious but the karaage was the best I've ever had, and I lived in Japan for 3 years. Beautiful location, can't wait to go for a sit down meal soon.“

“My family attended for a birthday gathering, and my son who is 4 had the absolute best time! They had children's chopsticks for him to learn with and he loved he. He ate almost an entire bowl of Miso Raman by himself. Toddlers are notoriously picky eaters, but he loves this Ramen!

Our family tried lots of dishes that everyone loved and took extras home.

I like their signature non alcoholic mixed drinks, and they had a nice selection of vegetarian rolls for someone who doesn't eat fish too.

“Sushi Moto is a hidden gem. We've tried sushi from all over Halifax to Truro and Sushi Moto takes the cake. A lot of places forget that sushi is also about the seafood/fish and not so much on the rice. Dartmouth Crossing has quite a few places to eat but most were common fast food places you see everywhere. Sushi Nami menu looked good and prices as expected. So we decided that we wanted sushi above all else. Wide open space inside, very bright, clean and not very busy in the late afternoon, as expected. The menu , four pages worth We ordered the Edamame, Mango Salad, Maki Dinner, Sweet Potato Maki, and Deluxe Moriawase. Dessert was lastly fried banana with three scoops of ice cream for the three pieces of banana… mango, black sesame and green tea ice creams Rather than go through in detail the why I would recommendation I will simply put it this way. Absolutely. Absolutely absolutely would I recommend this place. The service, the atmosphere, the choices, the serving the taste the prices everything about Sushi Nami Royale Is worth it. Our total bill for everything including $20 tip was $111.31 for two people and a lot of delicious food. I give it a 12/10“
