“Some reviews I've read of the TBR are quite critical-- it's dingy, the service is poor, the food unremarkable. But those reviews were clearly written by people who were looking for a "nice" restaurant and not a true neighborhood pub. A neighbourhood pub interior design SHOULD be outdated, and SHOULD serve standard pub fare.Sure, sometimes service can be slow-- but the folks there are salt of the earth and all you need to do is wave a hand, AND, if you paid attention when the server told you their name, or better yet, if you were friendly and asked their name, just call them over with a good-natured smile."Wing night" is actually wing nightS-- Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday (tip--order wings, fries and onion rings 'extra crispy'), and Sunday brunch is perfect for...well...a Sunday morning after a Saturday night.There is often live music, with a lot of favorite musicians returning again and again-- and musicians who talk to the audience and even sit and catch up with more regular patrons.The end of the music and the closing of the pub come sooner than many other pubs/restaurants, so pace your libations accordingly.The more often you visit the TBR, the better it gets-- get to know the people, because THEY are the TBR.“

“I don't go often to East Side Mario's, but am generally sure it will be a decent meal. This evening's meal was REALLY excellent (try the chicken Milano!) - salad and bread both incredibly fresh. Recommended just for that ..But our server Pao deserves a HUGE shout-out. I don't know when I've had better, more attentive, genuinely cheerful service. Seriously, she elevated the experience from "pretty good" to "I'm so glad we did this!"“

“First visit: Michelin 3-Stars plus Head Chef - Amy McDougall out did herself! Nikki our server was great host worth a 5-Star rating herself. Our first time to Le Rouge we couldn’t find anything to complain about. Thea Langille said hands down our favorite restaurant in Halifax. Great wine selection and cocktail list. We kept it simple with a white. Started with 6 raw PEI oysters and decided on the spicy (good bite) with horseradish and lemon over the garlic / lemon sauce. These were the fullest & freshest oysters we have ever had. Ordered slightly more than simple garden salad with our AAA Prime rib medium rare beef dip with mayonnaise sandwich. The dip was not salty and complimented the whole sandwich exquisitely. Light and delicious and bursting with freshness flavours. We splurged and shared a Vanilla Tuile Sea Salt caramel with coconut pudding garnished with a tasty biscuit and candy caramel drizzle. Not what I was expecting! Tip if you get it. spoon clear to the bottom, light and balanced. Best part Amy McDougall served it herself. Stylish and elegant decor, easy to talk and have a conversation even with the back ground music. An applause for the interior designer. The colors, lines and high end appeal coupled the excellence of quality brought to the table. This time I will make note that we went to see “Oppenheimer” after the meal. We had to Google to remember it was “Indiana Jones” the last time. Lol. We started with the White and Rose Sangria, each choosing one. Then the Asian Nachos (my favorite), Seafood Chowder that was amazingly meaty & creamy. I had the garden with the Lobster Club on a croissant. No dessert this time. Nikki our server was once again delightful.“

“I've eaten at this place on almost every time I've visited Halifax. The food tastes homemade and besides being tasty, is reasonably priced. It's a Mom and Pop business, and while Mum and a Son serves tables, Pop does the cooking. They're all very pleasant.“

The waiters are kind and nice to talk to and the atmosphere is family friendly, classic like the dinners you see in the movies. There is a lot of space for parking and it's right next to Bedford highway so it is easy to reach. This is a stop you must make if you are exploring the area.“

“I love the food and the servers are wonderful - very nice chicken burgers and pulled pork.Although if you don't like loud music I don't recommend coming on a Saturday - kinda too much for me, but still a lovely little place that really shapes the clayton park district.“

“You guys really need to step it up when it comes to consistency. I'm so tired of paying good money for food and being disappointed. You used to be my go to for everything and I keep trying and hoping that things have improved but one week I'll get a large donair and it's a large and tastes good, next week ill order a large donair and get a small burnt one. same thing with donair subs. I just paid $15 for a large donair, it was tiny and the sauce on it taste like milk not at all like donair sauce. Done with spending good money and getting something different every time I won't try again that's for sure.“

“Today we took our grandsons for lunch. It was very busy considering it was March break. We were greeted quickly and seated. Our server Debra was very busy as were the other servers but she did a good job getting our orders. The food was good,clubhouse for us and chicken strips and fries for the boys. Good to know they are actively checking, would have loved to try the place out while we were in town, but might not get the chance again.There wasn’t a soul in the place when we walked in shortly before 8pm. We were excited to go for Thursday wing night and was pretty disappointed to hear that the kitchen was closed. Thursday is advertised as 12$ wings from 5pm to close.The barkeeper apologized but didn’t seem overly friendly.“

The Queso Fries were also good.Wheelchair accessibility: Washroom is faiy accessible for someone with a walker, but someone in a wheelchair would have difficulty with the door. “A tavern that is full of life. A tavern with a soul. Came here for a bite, ended up having dinner and drinks because I enjoyed my time. Crowd was friendly. There was a live band that performed soul music. Everyone enjoyed and the singers interacted with the crowd. Reception, waiters and especially those at the bar were genuinely friendly and attentive (thanks Hayley. Recommend whether alone or with friends , especially when there’s a band performing.“
