“North is one of our favorite local spots. They host fun events (the drag shows are wild and I love to see that type of support in our community). We love the atmosphere, food is great, staff is always lovely and the beer is always good - in fact, their sours are beyond the best around and I really hope they start brewing them again. I was definitely a bit disappointed that they haven't offered one recently so.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back your sours! I also think their merchandise offered is more stylish then a lot of other similar places. It has a unique surf/beachy vibe that I hope they continue. What's even better is that they offer a 15% discount you can use on merch, if you show your receipt after dining in their taproom! Keep up the great work!”

“This is by far the best Indian food I have ever had, here or abroad. Lovely service, lovely spot, and AMAZING food that will have you drooling as soon as the aromas hit your nose. Lunch today was shared - Vegetable samosa Samosa chat Garlic naan plain naan Saffron rice Zeera rice Lamb Rogan Josh Chana masala Kadhai chicken Everything was sheer perfection.”

“We had excellent service on Canada Day 2024 with our friendly waitress Pal. She was very helpful and kept checking on our party of 12 ages from 3 to 80, to make sure everyone had what they wanted. She put treats on the Robot and had the children go get their treats off the tray on it, which was a highlight for them. We could tell she enjoys waitressing because she does it to perfection. The food was delicious and plated appetizingly, too!”

“I’ve eaten here twice and both experiences were absolutely incredible. The dishes are so beautifully and thoughtfully composed. Ingredients are second to none. The kitchen’s attention to detail, execution, timing of courses and overall quality is truly impressive and so appreciated. Service has been delightful. Both servers were the same both times and just as kind, welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu, drinks, wine and describe the dishes perfectly every time. Halifax is lucky to have this incredible gem of a restaurant. The Ostrich Club would stand up beside some of the best restaurants in every major Canadian city. It’s a privilege and a pleasure to enjoy a meal here.”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ !! The Prospect Road location is going to be such a well loved location - so much so that, I don’t think the staff realized how much of the community would flock there. They’re BUSY, and out of ingredients, but the staff there were HUSTLING around, smiling and getting orders out that they could. I expect delays at the beginning. They never expected so much traffic, give them patience folks and expect a mess up in your order possibly or wait until they are fully loaded and in the flow with the area. Otherwise incredible sub (despite picking off a couple things I didn’t ask for), the bread was amazing, still 10/10 would go back, and didn’t even care it was chaotic. Inside though although small, its essentially a novelty convenience store with local goodies. They have a little bakery section with homemade stuff, the moon mist fudge was incredible and a must try! They also had a bunch of “Jones Soda” flavours that I’ve never seen before anywhere around here - even at the big candy stores, (like s’mores and the fallout edition one) which was pretty cool!! They still have ice cream and everything that was at multi scoop - just with a lot more options and delicious fresh options to go. Something for ANYONE at a really reasonable price. “I went specifically for Trini Doubles and I was not disappointed! Delicious!!! Also had the friend plantain, very good but I thought a bit pricey for the small portion. The platter was very good as well ( especially the homemade mini dill picles!) although something to spread the hummus on would've been nice. The mango juice 💯. The owner is lovely. I definitely will be back. 1st time for my GF having doubles, she couldn't believe how good they were.

“Johnny’s Snack Bar is right at the top of my list of favourite places to eat in Halifax. It’s a true North End gem that’s been family run for over 40 years ! You can feel the love in every part of it. The food is consistently perfection, no matter what you order. From old school flat top burgers and breakfasts to daily specials, pork chops, fried chicken, and their incredible pan-fried haddock, everything is done right, every time.

The atmosphere is classic old school diner feel & always busy. Chris and Tasso, along with their sweet and hardworking parents, make you feel welcome the moment you walk in. The service is genuine, the portions are generous, and the prices are more than fair.

Although street parking for Johnny’s has been terribly affected by City installing of bike lanes, you can find parking at the forum.
