About Ahmed Indian Restaurant Albany NY

Ahmed Indian Restaurant Albany NY, previously known as Spice Mint Albany, is now under new management. Despite the lack of customers during the visit, the restaurant seems to have a steady stream of takeout orders, indicating it is primarily a takeout establishment.

The service was attentive, but the waitstaff had limited knowledge of the menu, particularly regarding vegetarian options. The onion pakora, recommended by others, was a good choice, but the chicken biryani was reported to be very spicy and greasy, and the matar paneer was heavy on cream, resulting in an overall average dining experience.

Customers have had mixed experiences with the food quality. While the spicy food and service were praised, the vegetable dishes were noted to use frozen, low-quality ingredients, resulting in a taste of "freezer burn." The chicken biryani, however, was excellent. The Peshewari Naan and Bombay Aloo were standout dishes, with a perfect balance of spices, and the restaurant's willingness to accommodate customers' preferred spice levels was appreciated.

Overall, Ahmed Indian Restaurant Albany NY offers a varied menu, with both hits and misses, and provides a primarily takeout-focused dining experience.

Was really hopeful given the reviews we saw (note that Spicy Mint has another entry with noticeably lower reviews; they're apparently the same restaurant — not sure what happened or why this entry still exists. The lunch buffet was solid and a reasonable value, but nowhere near what we'd consider 4.6 stars (current average). FYI.

Great food, large portions and nice atmosphere

Fantastic Indian cuisine. The vindaloo was as hot as it comes and the naan was perfect.
