The food was so bland. I had steak, my daughter had king crabs. we also had Mac and cheese with lobster in it and mash potatoes. our appetizer was fried calamari and it was horrible. The ambiance of the restaurant appears nice until you are seated, the seats are ripped up. Do better Black and blue steak and crab. Your food is to expensive to taste so poorly.
Wait staff was excellent. Both steaks had to be taken back because they were raw, we asked for medium. when they returned with the steaks they were still not medium but we ate them anyways. The sides were 12 to 15 dollars a piece for about two scoops of food. The macaroni and cheese tasted like it came right out of the box and just had cheese sprinkled on it. There really was no flavor to the steaks. I did get the bernaise sauce which had a flavor of honey mustard, terrible....read full review

Black & Blue Steak and Crab in Albany, NY offers a dining experience marked by a mix of excellent service and varying opinions on the food. The restaurant boasts a beautiful ambiance with a quiet, comfortable side room that is ideal for conversation. The staff, including attentive and friendly servers, are highly praised for their professionalism and knowledge, often making guests feel special—such as celebrating anniversaries with a complimentary champagne toast.
The menu features fresh seafood and quality steaks, with standout dishes like the lobster bucatini, which many consider the best pasta they've ever had, and the crab cake filled with fresh crab. The calamari and cauliflower au gratin are also well-liked. The restaurant sometimes hosts special events, such as a 5-course meal paired with Michter’s, which receives high praise for food, drinks, and service, especially the melt-in-your-mouth wagyu beef and the exceptional bread pudding dessert.
However, some reviews mention that the food can be disappointing relative to the price. Several note that the menu is limited and that certain dishes, like the halibut special with lobster risotto, were misleading or not worth the price, with portions being small and descriptions not entirely accurate. Despite these issues, the overall experience is positive, with excellent service, beautiful setting, and memorable food, making it a place worth visiting for special occasions or a refined night out.
