I live outside St. Louis in Eureka, MO so I haven't been to The Other Place, I lived there. Well, not there but above there in the front apartment back in 1954 when it was a bakery. My dad was stationed in Iceland so it was just my Mom and I. I visited Allegany in 1977 and then it was a tavern. It's nice to see the place is still there and doing so well.
People are awesome n the food is great!!
Fish Fry is fantastic!! I had the panko, baked pot(butter & sc) Cole slaw. Added 3 fantailed shrimp to try. It was so good, w/the panko. Nice & crispy. These are all dipped and cooked to order, not predone. They had other kinds of fish & the other special if the night was lasagna. Seating is small & I seen alot of to go orders flying out the door. We will definitely be going back.

The Other Place offers delicious food with a focus on their fantastic Fish Fry, which is cooked to order and features a crispy panko coating. The restaurant also serves other types of fish and varies their specials, such as lasagna. The ribs are reportedly excellent and were described as "rocking" and "hooking" diners in with their small samples. The seating is limited, but the restaurant is known for its to-go orders. The waitstaff, including Ms. Straub, are engaging and contribute to a positive dining experience.
