The vibe of the place is fun and there is plenty of interesting decor. The Poke Bowl was below average. I'd try something different if I come back here again. The staff were friendly.”

“Sometimes you’re just looking for a little beach time and some great BBQ – and Batesy's BBQ delivered on both! We were in town helping another G-FORCE location with an Amazon project, so naturally, we took a break to explore the local food scene. First Impressions: We kicked off with the Deviled Eggs – the jalapeño added a nice little kick while the bacon... well, it was bacon – crispy and delicious. Next up were the House Pickles – sweet, vinegary, and unexpectedly tasty. Who knew pickles could be this good? The Mains: Harry went with the Pulled Pork – packed with flavor, moist, and paired with an excellent sauce. The Potato Salad stood out with just the right-sized chunks, and the Cornbread? Perfectly crispy on the outside. Steve opted for the BBQ Chicken – tender and juicy, coated with that same outstanding house sauce. And the Kielbasa? This place might not be Polish, but they nailed it – full of flavor and definitely a surprise hit! The Potato Salad reminded us of Grandma’s homemade classic, and the Collards had a unique twist that, honestly, we didn’t hate. The rest of the table didn’t hold back either – from the Burger to the Mac and Cheese and, of course, more Pulled Pork, it was all a hit! “honestly everything is pretty great. i had the Philly cheese steak meal, they serve it on a hero and cut it half and serve it with fries. the fries themselves aren’t much special but it’s still good, crunchy but not that’s nasty stuff stale crunchy. the perfect crunch. i’m definitely ordering again for late nights. it also took like 10 min or less”

“👍😎 "A great slice of pizza!" - Editor I was doing a story on Coastal Flooding in NYC... 'Sandy' 10 years later ...'Hurricane Ida' & 'Ian'... and talked to Surfers on the Beach that surfed 'Ian' (Beach 67) just recently. 'Beach 67' is 'the spot' for surfing in NYC. I was sooo happy I got these interviews and went and got a slice of pizza at 'Boardwalk Pizza' before I hopped back on the Train (the 'Beach 67' stop on the 'A Train'), right there behind a beautiful and impressive strip of storefronts facing the Ocean (which 'Boardwalk Pizza' is a part of). The slice was great... and I asked if anyone was around for 'Hurricane Sandy' (no luck) ...so I went outside to enjoy the air while eating. There is 'great outdoor space' attached to 'Boardwalk Pizza' (and the other storefronts there). It is all brand new ...the neighborhood of 'Arverne' as well (in the Rockaways, Queens)... right at the water. It is like a 'Picturesque Beach Town' and this Pizzeria is a representation of it. I actually met the owner (Giuseppe) he is from Italy (standing in one of the photos at the Entrance), he likes it there at 'Arverne' so much he bought the Pizzeria and serves a 'More European' style of food, he says. The Pizzeria was amply patronized when I went in... mid October (half full) ...the 'Summer Season' over (when he does very well he says) ...with February being slowest. He has a full menu of Pasta, Chicken (and various meat) Dishes... 'Vegan Options' as well. It is very clean (which was nice to be in), the people are 'laid back' there too (I like that). Giuseppe likes it so much he travels every day from Manhattan (he added) and is considering a place in the new units being built across the street (either apartment or condo/co-op). It is an amazing development going on through the whole area of 'Arverne' with 2,000 more units and a school being added... [There was nothing before 'Hurricane Sandy' (he says)] ...it seems 'Arverne' (the name of the Neighborhood) is 'on the way up' (even 'more up' than its current state) along with 'Boardwalk Pizzeria.' “Every time I go inside of this Starbucks it's like a wonderful experience all the team members are nice they're very knowledgeable and I am really feel happy when I come into this place after an aggravating day especially ,Nate the Barista is the best he makes me laugh; smile every single time and he is such a people person he needs to be promoted to assistant manager or shift supervisor if he's not already the whole entire inside team from August 15th to August 18th has just been wonderful cuz I've been going there every day since then keep up the good wok I will actually download the Starbucks app.”

“The space is configured like a film set: you are in some backwater honkytonk in a remote outpost in Thailand in the 70’s. Psychedelic Thai music along with some disco blares loudly beneath the flickering lights, corrugated metal awnings, advertisements for beer, Fanta, god-knows-what hair care products — it actually looks like a sort of Thai bodega. Leaning forward from your antique movie theatre seat and peering into the downstairs you see large glass jars illuminated with red light. Some Mephistophelian herbal concoctions. On a large screen plays some grainy indifferent Bruce Lee knockoff from the 70’s. You get the picture….”

Food is so authentic and spontaneous!!! We shared a bottle of their Poderi Melini Chianti Classico, which was perfect with our food and was recommended to us by Jacopo, in his typical Tuscanian accent. I’ll definitely be back! Our beautiful table was in the perfect spot to take in all of what the Rockaway Hotel has to offer. The outside bar and Pool house are exquisite. The pool was bustling with excitement. “This is a very local restaurant.
It doesn't have fancy decor, nor does it serve mind-blowing dishes with flavors you can't find anywhere else.
However, their food is very wholesome and down-to-earth, without the heavy oils or excessive salt used to aggressively hook a customer's palate.
The prices are also very affordable—I imagine people working nearby frequent this place often.
I'm a delivery truck driver, and whenever I pass through this area, I make sure to stop by.
The elderly owner is Taiwanese and extremely kind, and they also employ some Spanish staff. The overall work atmosphere is wonderful, and I'm certain the owner treats them very well. Dining here gives you a sense of peace that you just can't find anywhere else.
You shouldn't go out of your way just to eat here, but if you happen to be passing by, you definitely have to drop in and check it out.”

“This has been my wife’s and my favorite spot since they opened. The atmosphere is very chill and beautiful, the staff go above and beyond and the food is always phenomenal. The Forest pizza is a fav, definitely recommend, and their seasonal specials are always worth checking out. For drinks try out an amaro or the Little Italy. Just don’t go when we’re going, so it’s easier for us to get a table ;)”
