Make Believe Bakeshop is a true gem and a special, original cafe in the Astoria neighborhood. It is an incredible and underrated bakery with fantastic, delicious baked goods that exceed expectations, featuring both sweet and savory treats. Favorites include the cinnamon roll, any of the bread puddings, the cookies, the chocolate chip cookies, babka, the seasonal apple cider donut muffin, the pumpkin walnut scone, the ham and cheese croissant, the pistachio cake, and an egg sandwich on a brioche bun. The coffee is also fantastic, with great drip coffee, one of the best lattes in the city, flavorful and not-too-sweet lattes, and great cold brew. The drink menu includes seasonal options. The staff are super nice, kind, thoughtful, incredibly welcoming, and community-oriented, creating a warm, relaxed, and safe space with a community feel. They also offer dog treats. It is a welcoming environment with a winning combination of great coffee, great treats, and great people.
