“Nice take out spot. Selection is pretty limited and good to call ahead since they run out of things or don't have them on certain days. It is a small place but, since it is open on days when most food providers aren't, this is a gem. The pitas were great but the pita chips weren't eaten. Chicken nice as were the dips.”
“Great little place. We were there 30 minutes before opening and the lady let us in anyway. She was running back AND front of house. She had the bar, our table, and cooked our food because the server wasn't in yet. We sat by the fireplace. The pizza was delicious. The only thing was the country music. Awful. Lol.”
“We were in the area to ski at Belleayre, and there were not a lot of dining options on a Monday night. We chose La Cabana because it has a bar... the classic margarita on the rocks was perfect. We started with chips and salsa, which were very fresh. We both had the same entree, the vegetarian combination. It was tasty, plenty to eat and very reasonable, though I prefer regular beans to refried beans on the side. The ambiance was so-so, kind of a large bland room, but there was a big wood stove cranking out some welcome heat. The server was very pleasant. Happy we found this place and we'd visit again.”
“Excellent service. The dishes were delicious. Their honey whipped butter is to die for. Best pork chop I've had in a long time. Very juicy and well prepared. Great find and will visit again.”
“Are you kidding me!!! Best place I've been to in decades. If I lived closer I wouldn't tell anyone in fear of getting shut out. I eat out / take out 3-5 days a week for 30 years. Get in the car & go. Thank me later.”
“This place was amazing! This spot is setting the bar in the Catskills. Food was delicious, coffee was great, owners were warm and welcoming. AND they had Gluten Free bread options.”
“Five stars for the croissants alone! I’ve been feeling nostalgic about my time spent in Paris and I’ve been searching for authentic French pastries. These croissants are the closest I’ve ever found in the States. The perfect size, perfectly flakey. Thank you for filling the croissant-sized hole in my heart. ❤️ ”
“Best seafood market for miles and miles and miles despite very limited offerings. Delicious tuna, shrimp, scallops are as good as it gets. Not sure of its status as restaurant these days, never had a cooked meal there (only been going since 2020) but I’m sure he knows what he’s doing if you do happen to go when it’s open. Hidden gem!”
“Excellent coffee/ friendly husband and wife running the very clean food establishment/ we are glad we stopped there for coffee as it was ten times better than any gas station coffee/ the owner said his grandfather owned a coffee supply company since the 40's I believe supplying vendors in NYC and they still use the same coffee/ great job they made it for us and my wife said good coffee after one sip/ thanks/ hope to stop here again next time we're in the catskills.”
“Came in for breakfast and it was delish. The prices are great and we really enjoyed sitting by the little window of the train car. Such a cool and unique space! My breakfast sandwich was also super yummy.”
“We have really enjoyed the pizza and wings from here for the past 6 months. The crust is airy and very tasty. The specialty pie is our favorite. The wings are the best. Keep up the good work”
“This Amazing off the beaten path gem ,With Delicious homemade Food and Desserts , History, Lovely staff , and Fun game room , Epic Historic bowling Alley was the Perfect find to complete our Adventuring ,No run of the mill boring burgers and fries here!!!Just Absolutely Charming in every single way ?”
“Visited in November 2022 with my boyfriend for a night. We stayed in the Walden cabin, which was close to the main lodge and convenient for a quick walk to dinner. We dined at the restaurant which we thought was good but limited menu. We explored the game area after and thought it was well equipped but we went around 9pm and found used cups and open bag of popcorn that hadn't been cleaned. The bed was very comfortable and we loved the soaking tub! However we did find what we thought looked like some mold on the shower ceiling. Overall we enjoyed our stay and all the employees were more than helpful and nice. I'd recommend visiting when the trees are still full and the weather is slightly warmer.”
“Tito’s is a good spot! Liam is the man, always helps you quickly. The burrito was delicious, the jalepeno pineapple marg was everyone’s favorite.Unfortunately no coors- but that’s okay.”
“This place was great. We stopped in for some lunch between Woodstock and Ithaca. I got the Chicagoland sandwich, and it was huge. Great flavor. Staff was friendly, and we really enjoyed our decision to stop here. Hope to make it back someday.”
“We ate here last night. Their food is delicious and the pasta is amazing. I went off the typical pasta choice and tried one of the paninis. It was awesome, especially if you like balsamic like me.”
“Quiet night in the dining room meant excellent service from the waitress and attention from the manager. Food superb, excellent value. We were a small family gathering. We'll be back, would recommend to anyone.”
“My wife and I loved an affordable, comfy, and clean place to stay while we skied at Belleayre. Coffee in the AM was great and were total coffee snobs! We used to frequent this area several years ago and a few things have since closed down, meaning you’ll need to drive over to Arkville for general supplies. Most places nearby seemed to open around 8am and close on the earlier side. Although we visited during the week and saw that they would make you breakfast on the weekend.Expect traditional Catskills lodging. We’ve eaten at the tavern in the past and it was great. Didn’t make it on our last visit.”
“We eat at Oakley's Place every time we visit Margaretville. I hesitate to share my true opinion because I don't want to create long, long lines to wait for a table but... it needs to be said: Oakley's has pizza better than the local pizzerias in my Brooklyn neighborhood. The word "better" does not capture the superior experience of eating this pizza. But for Brooklyn reference, it would be as if Grimaldis Pizza (the one by the Brooklyn Bridge) and Patsy's Pizza had a pizza baby. They have a fire wood oven and apparently, absolutely KNOW how to use that thing to achieve perfection in a crispy crust pizza. The sauce is delicious, neither too sweet or too tangy. The cheese stays on the pizza, not sliding away as you bite into it, and they are generous with the pepperonis which cover the entire pie. Honestly, if you are within 50 miles of this place, you should stop by.”
“Very nice place....only one thing...only one waitress for all restaurant...poor women...she was doing the best in that busy evening....please do not kill her with the work...”
“A nice experience with excellent food and service. The bar and dining room are separated relatively effectively through a right angle hallway with a shared men's room. The ladies' room is right up front by the entrance. It's really in an awful spot, pretty much in the dining room, but as I said the place is small. The food was very good with reasonable prices. The service was excellent. And, as the place is also a bar, any drink or beer you want is available. The atmosphere was super quiet and respectful. We'll be back.”
“Very nice atmosphere. Service was super friendly and pleasant if slow. Food was ok, but I really recommend the French onion soup, and their mulled cider is really nice too. Sadly the chili I was hoping for turned out to be a special:'(”
“I absolutely love this place. Their food is incredible compared to most places. I love their pork fried rice it's my absolute favorite. The service is always friendly and served with a smile and greeted. I have never had any type of issues here what so ever. Except...... Just now I called to order food because it says they close at 8.30pm online and it's wrong evidently because I tried to call twice at 7:50pm and no answer. Maybe the online page should be updated!!!!!!! This could push customers away....Kid-friendliness: They also sell tons of kids things on the side when you walk up to the counter on the left hand side.”
“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chappies with a group of 15 friends, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Located conveniently near a mountain where we enjoyed snow tubing, this restaurant was the perfect post-adventure retreat. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the stage for what turned out to be a culinary delight. Our diverse group sampled a variety of dishes, and each one surpassed our expectations. The French toast was a delightful start to our meal, with its perfect balance of sweetness and fluffiness. The Texas patty melt and grilled cheese sandwiches were absolute crowd-pleasers, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. One of the unexpected gems was the chai chili wrap, which added a delightful twist to our taste buds with its unique combination of flavors. Even the soup, a seemingly simple dish, impressed us with its depth of flavor and comforting warmth. And let's not forget the chicken fingers, a classic favorite that did not disappoint. To complement our meal, we indulged in an array of drinks, all of which were expertly crafted and served with care. Whether it was a refreshing cocktail or a steaming cup of coffee, each sip enhanced our dining experience. The service was impeccable, with the staff accommodating our large group effortlessly and ensuring that every need was met. Despite the size of our party, the food arrived promptly and was served with a smile.Overall, dining at Chappies was a highlight of our snow tubing adventure. The combination of delicious food, inviting atmosphere, and top-notch service made for a truly memorable experience. Whether you're visiting the area for outdoor activities or simply seeking a fantastic dining experience, I highly recommend making a reservation at Chappies. You won't be disappointed!”
“Where to begin? This spot blew my expectations out of the water. My boyfriend and I shared their broccoli and potato soup, with their house made bread. We also had the infamous roasted eggplants sandwich which melted in your mouth, with the crunch of the bread and the gorgeous San Marzano tomato sauce. Even the salad was perfectly dressed and so fresh.I had their peach fizz mocktail, fresh peach nectar, raspberry juice, so delicious. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this spot to anyone and everyone!”
