Cupcakes near Flushing, NY

“This bakery used to have another location in downtown flushing. I tried their cake before and liked it. So it decided to order a custom cake and cupcake from them.

The owner/baker was very easy to communicate with via text. She explained all the details to me, even suggested to go light on the color of the cake, too much food coloring is not good for children. This is something I have not thought of as a mother ! And I appreciate her reminding me of this !!

On the day of the pick up, I was a bit worry about how the cake would turn out. The cake turned out great !! and it tastes great too !! Several of our guests at the party ask for the bakery and they want to order cakes for their own birthday !!

“The staff is so friendly!!! I was short $1.50 for my order and they just said it’s ok you can give me it tomorrow. After 20 minutes I came back and gave them $2 and told them to keep the change. They even thanked me for coming back! Wonderful food staff and place!“

“I work for a law firm in CA and we have an employee who works remotely in NY.. For our employee's birthday I wanted to choose a bakery close to her home and who was local. Stumbled upon Buttercup Bake Shop and they were so awesome! Totally worked with me and delivered the cupcakes with NO hassle. “I was looking everywhere for a bakery that could do a matcha flavored birthday cake for my boyfriend’s birthday and the team at Les Gateaux de Marie was so amazing and accommodating. Everyone loved the cake and couldn’t stop talking about it, the cake was perfectly sweet, light and airy, and all of the staff were SO KIND. Will be back again and again! Thank you for making his birthday so special!“

“Small café, but very bright, clean, and airy. There was was a small loveseat, a couple barstools, one or two cafe tables with 2 seats, a bench with a cushion and 3 café tables out on the sidewalk. Came in about 1:30pm, and were greeted warmly. Almost all of the pastries were gone, but the cheese with fig danish and the plain croissant they had left were good. We also tried the matcha lemonade, strawberry matcha and a hot black sesame latte. I liked the sesame latte A LOT, the strawberry was good, and I personally hated the lemonade, but that is a personal preference thing. The good thing about it is it isn't too sweet, but it was heavy on the matcha, so it tasted like liquid grass to me. I definitely like nuttier sencha tea better. The prices were average for the area, and since everything is pricey now, it is what it is.

There were other patrons there, busily working and looked like they had been there for quite a while, which tells me it may be a good place to sit and focus for an hour or two.

My party of three sat outside and because it is located in a predominantly residential area, it was a nice place to sit since there aren't tons of pedestrians. There were a few bees/wasps though, so we had to leave after a bit(highly allergic). There were also mosquitos and lantern bugs around--I suspect there is some standing water on a roof nearby.

I will definitely walk over here again to get that sesame latte, and maybe stay and pretend looking productive. But I'll definitely come back.“
