“I had an interview in Cobleskill. I had the great fortune of staying in the American. I got in late, after normal check-in, and got a fantastic email taking me through the steps of how to get access and then on to my room.To say I was blown away is an understatement. The decor and overall vibe of the place is amazing. It’s history, culture, and spirit all rolled into different rooms with different personalities. The building is, well, alive with all of the history and fun things you see on the walls and generally decorating the place. Same goes for outside. It’s just so welcoming. That was only surpassed by Garth and Doug. What kind, kind men and what lovely humans. You get a clear sense that the openness and warmth of the hotel is a direct result and reflection of them. It’s not often you want to get to know your hotel hosts better, but they create the space where this kind of thing is possible.Being on an interview is stressful and one needs all the help to be calm. The American, Doug and Garth, gave me the opportunity to gather myself, relax and be my best.Do yourself a favor. Go see this treasure.“

“We had a good dinner for two with an appetizer and dessert. Friendly service in an old building that felt cozy. I had short ribs and we each enjoyed our dessert.Parking: Parking is on the street out front and plenty of it but it's a little challenging if you have any sort of mobility issues.“

“Looking for a place to get a drink and some food after tying up our boat at the local marina for the night in St. Johnsville. Cosmo's was the only place open and fairly quiet when we sat down. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The menu was simple but had enough choices for us. We ordered and had a few beers and when the food came out it was fresh cooked and good portioned. Would highly recommend this place for a cool old fashioned bar ambiance with great people and food.“

“Our wedding was December 23, 2023. Beardslee Castle is an absolute dream of a wedding venue! Our contact at the castle, Lynn, was wonderful to work with: friendly, responsive, and super knowledgeable. She took time and care to meet with us and offered us various options based on our specific wants and considerations. We had our ceremony in front of the gorgeous fireplace, cocktail hour in the dungeon, and amazing food for dinner. Our guests described our wedding as "magical" and "unique," and we agree with that assessment! We cannot recommend Lynn, the wonderful staff, and Beardslee Castle more highly. We can't imagine a more special place to get married!“

“We have ordered done in and takeout several times over the season. We have so many favorites- Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich which is a nice crispy chicken sandwich with a quality chicken patty- Friday Haddock Fish Fry is exceptional- No 7 Burger with the homemade whiskey sauce (please bottle the sauce)!- The paninis ! There are so many options and they are all very good!Did I mention the limited time Brunch ?!?! Yummy! Who doesn’t love breakfast?!?The homemade ice cream is made with a high quality cream making it a stand out in this market. And then there is the classic soft serve. I have stopped at other places and the hot fudge exceeds what we have received elsewhere. Add to that their signature sundaes. It’s always hard to choose one.Prices reflect the quality of product you receive. This again exceeds what you would get at McDonalds and honestly those prices are comparable.Do they get busy? Yes! But that speaks to the food they provide. Plan for it as many items will sell out quickly such as their homemade chicken and biscuits. Sit back relax and enjoy the ambiance and good conversation with your loved ones while the staff will bring your meal to you ?We look forward to spring!“

“Waitress was very friendly, told some history about the building. All day breakfast! Had an omlet with spinach cheese mushroom and tomatoes and it was one of the best I've had (and im an omlet lover for sure). They serve local chocolate milk of Dygert Farm (which was rated NYS 2023 best) and home made shreaded hashbrows cooked to perfection. Will definitely be coming back here more!“
“Absolutely wonderful. We did have a bit of a hard time talking / hearing due to the amount of people around us. But that's on the customers, not the restaurant. The prices are a bit expensive. That being said...the dinners were absolutely amazing and delicious. We had the arugula salad and the mixed greens salad. We ordered penne carbonara with a sherry sauce that was out of this world. The other dinner was the mushroom ravioli, equally delicious. Not a huge fan of gorgonzola but it was just enough to compliment the other flavors of the dish. We each had a cocktail, pomegranate Cosmo and a dirty martini. Both done to perfection. The waitress was very knowledgeable and extremely attentive to us. And that was with a packed dining room. All in all, a great night out. Delicious food and great service. Parking was across street, short walk away. Front entry had a few small steps but also a ramp for wheelchair access. If looking for a quaint place with good food, def give this one a try.“

“I went on January 20 to celebrate my birthday. I had never been before. Probably the best meal I've had in years. Lately, I don't like to dine out because it's expensive and the food is never worth what I've spent but this place is a game changer. I had the special "pot roast"- Just amazing and cooked to perfection. I will be back and the Fancy Farmer will be highly recommended!“

“I live nearby and come here about once a month. Food is always high quality and fresh. Portions are generous.I know people get bent over the surcharge but I will gladly pay extra for good food. Go to any fast food place or chain restaurant and tell me what placeISNT expensive.Highly recommend.“
