“Exploring the Erie Canal Trail, I found this hidden gem in Amsterdam. Ordered two loaded dogs, large fries, and locally made chocolate milk. Fries were great: hot and crisp. Chocolate milk hit the spot and definitely tasted better than what you see in stores. The dogs were outstanding. I can't describe exactly what it was. Definitely the sauce, but more just a great mix and amount of each topping.Best part of the visit though was the hospitality and the local vibe. As I walked up to the door, soaking wet from hiking, I was invited in to dry off inside. Not wanting me to be cold, seeing my sweatshirt was soaked, he literally gave me the shirt off his back and refused to take a dime.As I sat and ate, I listened to the conversations around me. Seemed like all local people, friendly, knew each other. There was a lunch rush, and things were done promptly, but he made time to sit and talk with people and check in on the odd hiker from out of town.Cares about his customers and makes great food. If you're running/walking/cycling the trail, I HIGHLY recommend this spot, especially for lunch.Sidenote: made it to Albany around 4am - in dry and warm sweatshirt. Thanks, this was the best stop on my trip!“
“Firstly, I'm local to this gem and had never had a chance to stop in. It's you don't pay attention to the sign you'll miss it while driving by. The inside is cozy and warm. There's a section upstairs with a bridge to cross over the downstairs area where we sat that was very private. It felt very comfortable and out of the way! We were a party of 11 on a busy Friday night. The waitress Michelle was PHENOMENAL. She was fast, timely and very pleasant to deal with. She worked very well under pressure and was so considerate of the amount of people we had. Friendly at all times. Was at our table several times and on top of making sure we had full drinks and our needs were met. The food was amazing. Every single thing was flavorful, cooked the way we had asked and came out hot and fast. The portions were great and the price isn't very bad. I would highly recommend trying this if you want just a drink at the bar or to take the family out for dinner.“
“I can’t say enough great things about Creekside. We had my family here after my mother’s funeral and my family enjoyed great food, wonderful service, clean restrooms, and an attentive bar staff. My family raved about the atmosphere and food and how this place was just perfect! This is just a wonderful place to have an event and the chef was just amazing!“
“The food was delicious. The prices are fair. They toys outside for the children to play with really impressed me. The sitting options also impressed me. The only thing I would recommend is a fan outside for the warmer days as there is not much shade. The cashier was pleasant. I can honestly say this place is really a happy place. ?Kid-friendliness: Lots of toys the little ones can enjoy free of charge.“
“Almost let the outside of the place chase is away..... boy would that have been a big mistake. As soon as you walk in, there is a bar. The bar was filled with locals however, most were friendly and said hello as we walked past. The seating area is small, but quaint. You felt like you were at your old uncle Nino's house. The Wait staff were friendly and courteous, but more importantly, the food was fantastic. Coming from an Italian girl who makes her own sauce, their sauce was a work of art! My highly recommend that if you're in Amsterdam that you've popped in for a taste.“
“Amsterdam is the largest town in this area, and the main drag is one of those strips that could be anywhere in the country. With the big box stores, chain restaurants, and gas stations, you wouldn't know where you were if you didn't see a few signs start with "Adirondack..." In the sea of all that, we wanted to find a local spot for lunch, and we're glad Yelp brought us here. We just wanted a couple of sandwiches. The lady running things highly recommended the Chicken Philly (the kid with her seemed too nervous to recommend anything), and we also got a bacon egg and cheese (SPK). Both folks behind the counter were so friendly, and during the 15 minutes or so we waited for our sandwiches, we were the only people they didn't greet by name. They obviously have a number of regulars, and it's no wonder, because the sandwiches were great. I actually thought the BEC was outstanding, and better than the Chicken Philly. In addition to good sandwiches, they've got local pies for sale, all the chips and drinks you'd ever want, and tables inside and out if you decide not to take your food home with you. It's obviously a local gem, and I'm glad we came by.“
“The wings here are surprisingly very good and tasty. We were part of a large group and had the opportunity to taste many flavors. For all of them the wings were nicely cooked. It wasn't soggy or soaked in the flavoring. You can always ask for the sauce on the side and the wings alone are great. The lemon pepper rub is one of the best I have tasted. Plus the lady was very very nice and accommodating. Definitely worth the try. The prices are very reasonable.“
“We were out looking for a spot for breakfast late on a Saturday morning. We went here at the suggestion of our daughter, who worked her way through school in restaurants. This is a charming, country kitchen that is very clean. It is handicapped accessible. We were greeted by, Rain, the owner. She was very personable and made a fresh pot of decaf for us. While the coffee was brewing we took a look at the menu. It is a combination of traditional diner fare and some breakfast specialty omelettes. Two of the omelettes, the Italian and the Sicilian caught my eye. When Rain came to take our order, I asked if she was Italian, as we are. She replied that she was, immediately asking what part of Italy my family is from, something only one Italian would ask another. I asked if she could make a frittata. She said yes. It was excellent. Rain said she may add it to the menu. A good frittata in the capital district is hard to find. This place checks all of the boxes: great food, service and ambiance. One mile from Thruway exit 27 in Amsterdam. We'll be back.“
