“It's great that they opened a White Bear in Great Neck, I use to ordered from Flushing to bring over to family in the area and it definitely doesn't taste as good when it's cold.

The quality and taste is the similar and they prep the food pretty quick when it's not busy. I also like how they have a small seating area. My favorite is still their wonton with hot sauce. A quick and simple satisfying meal.”

“Stumbled into this spot by chance, and they served me some of the best seafood pho my spirit has ever met. The flavors felt like a warm drumbeat in the chest. The artwork on the walls carried echoes of African pieces, giving the space a familiar soul. “Was driving back from New Jersey a couple weeks ago and there had been some accidents and a ton of traffic so we decided to take a unplanned detour and stopped in Great Neck. Happily we found a Great Mediterranean Seafood Restaurant/Bar AND saved on drive time! 😜 The server greeted us with a basket of Warm Grilled Pita & Humus, on the house. I even saw the Host presenting a table 2 Whole Fish to inspect, compare and choose from 👌👌👏👏 FRESH! An Incredibly lite white airy Chilean #Seabass and Broccoli with garlic, olive oil, sundried tomatoes and chickpeas, was, for me, perhaps the star of the whole show. “I've been a lot since I've lived here in the past 4 years. I've tried at least half of their menu. It's pretty good honestly. It's a little pricier than other spots in comparison, but so far I've had no complaints with the quality. Also service has been nice and straight forward too. My biggest issue is their hours. They don't always seem to open on time (10am) like they say they will. Their start time seems to be too late already with Planet Fitness right next door. I can't be the only morning workout person who would want a smoothie at least by 8:30-9am. It seems counterintuitive to business. Anyway, that's just a side thought on the way to the point that they are worth going to.”

“My God… Chongqing Lao Zao might be the best Chinese hot pot I’ve ever had. And if you’ve seen my other reviews, you know I’ve eaten at A LOT of hot pot places. 😂 This one seriously impressed me.

The entrance is actually pretty small and very easy to miss, but once you walk through that door… WOW. It feels like you just stepped into a Chinese palace. The decorations, the details, the atmosphere—everything is beautiful. Before we even started eating, I was already walking around looking at everything.

Then there’s the service. Next level. The servers were so attentive that they basically wouldn’t let us lift a finger. 😂 Plates cleared, broth checked, food taken care of—they were always there without making us feel rushed. That kind of service really changes the whole experience.

And of course, the hot pot itself was incredible. Rich, authentic flavors and exactly what I want when I’m craving real Chinese hot pot. Great food is one thing, but when you combine it with this atmosphere and this level of service, it becomes an experience.

I review a lot of hot pot restaurants and usually can find at least one thing I would change. This time, I really can’t.

“I was there at Jian Nan Syosset, Long Island. Everything went great!! But, those took the orders needed to be more educated to understand each dishes. We were a fairly larger group than standard party size. Some dished were small and some dim sum served with small quantities, like 3 or 4. Those who order for the large group, should give suggestion to order multiple orders for the same dish. So, each one in the group can have at least one.”

Everything we ate was handmade in house - including the pineapple cakes pictured here. I would really recommend getting the sauteed stinky tofu and the sesame oil pork kidney :) I will definitely come back to try out more from their menu!!”
