The shop is a quiet, sunny place to spend an afternoon and the whole cake orders have never disappointed! I’ve gotten 3 birthday cakes from byClio (the first was off Instagram, before they even had a shop) and always look forward to the next year. So happy to see this business thriving. It was made of sheets of chewy meringue loaded with crunchy cashew nuts, alternating with thick layers of “melt-in-your mouth” buttercream. Glad it was not too sweet that I was able to enjoy large servings of this delightful dessert. Great with coffee or tea.“

“OMG! I am not exaggerating when I say the cake I received was not short of amazing. Chocolate Devil's Food with Raspberry buttercream. Tangy Raspberry preserves made from scratch by Jaclyn as well between the layers. Everyone who ate a piece of my birthday cake could not be more satisfied with the level of artistry in the decoration as well as the execution of the taste of the cake itself. “My sister was having a beach chic baby shower because her and her husband do not want to know the gender. She wanted cupcakes that looked like succulents that also taste delicious. I immediately thought of Huascar and asked if he could do it. I traveled to Florida with them and they were a hit. I can’t describe how beautiful they look and I can tell you the taste of theses cupcakes were out of this world. Everyone was contacting my sister afterwards to see where she’d got them. 😋😋😋“

“What can I say? It’s the namesake. And it’s worthy of the name.

Café Saint-Michel serves some of the most interesting coffee drinks in the neighborhood—my favorite is the black sesame latte. Deep, mellow, a little mysterious. The pastries rotate seasonally, but the rhubarb custard danish with orange-laminated dough. No words. Buttery folds that melt into each other like silk in heat.

When I bite into the center, the true middle, it hits: thin flaky crust, thick custard, tart rhubarb exploding across tongue and cheek. It reminds me of the first month of falling for someone you’ll eventually love. That exact bite. Divine craving, new flavors, heady aromas. Intoxicating. Fleeting. There’s only ever one bite like that. The danish builds to it. My last relationship started there. One perfect mouthful, then it was all downhill, like heli-skiing a black diamond at Snowbird. Exhilarating. Dangerously consuming. Then gone in a rush of chilled air.

After the pastry, I usually sip my black sesame latte on the walk home. It’s mellow and wide. A gentle counterpoint to all that sweetness. It reminds me of what happens after love. When the sugar fades and you’re left with yourself again. Still standing. Still full, somehow. The calm expanse of a vista from solid ground.

Café Saint-Michel is like that. A place to touch base. A place to remember how to come back to yourself.“

“I stumbled across this bakery after having a birthday dinner at Mas Tortilla a few blocks away. It was a great find.

I ordered a cappuccino, 2 Grand Opening cupcakes, and a box of macarons for my bf and I to share and it was all sooo good.

The cupcakes had a passionfruit icing/paste that I could tell was made with real passionfruit on the inside and the cake was the perfect texture and moisture level. As good as the cupcakes were though, the real star of the show was the macarons. They were out of this world. We tried one of every flavor and I was not let down. My favorites were the fruity pebbles and the earl grey.

We will definitely be back the next time we're in the area!“

I gave her a picture that I wish I could up load and not only did she replicate the exact design but the cake itself literally melted on our mouths.
