One of my favorite places in Huntington, and I have lived here my entire life. BUT it is now close to unaffordable. It used to be ~$10 for a wrap AND fries AND soda. Even $15 for all that would be more than reasonable. But their prices have recently jumped through the roof - $15 for just a wrap!? $10 for a large fry!? Ridiculous. Work on getting more customers, not icing out the customers that have been loyal to you for many, many years.

5 stars for fries and sauces, 4 stars for everything else. Wraps are good, wouldn't say great. Same with burgers. Fried chicken too processed, grilled is good!“

“Shah’s Halal is clean, welcoming and has an excellent array of very fresh food. We are all used to fast food but waiting 3-5 minutes for a perfect falafel is worth it. The staff will help you pick out just what you need to eat, even if you’re not sure what you want. Vegetarians have many choices here, all delicious. Highly recommend!“

The fact that it’s Zabiha makes it even better, knowing everything is halal and carefully sourced. The food? Incredible. We started with the beef Bihari, and they were so juicy and packed with flavor—just the right amount of spice and served with this fresh mint chutney that tied everything together. The biryani, which was perfection. The rice was fragrant, and the meat was super tender, with all those spices working in harmony. The real star, though, was their Amazing Nihari. It tasted homemade, like something you’d get at a family gathering. The spices were bold but balanced, and the meat was cooked to perfection. You could tell they put real love into this dish.
And let’s not forget the naan—soft, warm, and just the right texture to scoop up all the delicious flavors. The staff was so friendly and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers. If you’re craving real Pakistani food, Al Kababi should be at the top of your list. Personally, I prefer King Halal over Naz and Shah. Some people think that Naz, Shah and King Halal are the same. Trust me, King Hala is much delicious. I also would like to mention that you get the same taste every time you eat it.“

The quality of the chicken and the rice was above average. The white sauce and the hot sauce were both pretty good too. I will go back for a combo plate next time to taste their lamb. I had the pleasure of dining at Bakhtar Afghani Restaurant recently, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, the warm ambiance and the inviting aroma of grilled meats and spices made it clear we were in for something special.

The hospitality was top-notch. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles, and our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to recommend popular dishes. We felt truly welcomed, as if we were guests in someone’s home.

We started with the Bolani, a traditional Afghan stuffed flatbread, which was perfectly crispy and flavorful. Then came the mantu – Afghan dumplings filled with seasoned ground beef and topped with yogurt and split peas – absolutely delicious and delicate in flavor.

The highlight, however, was the mixed grill platter. Each skewer was grilled to perfection – the chicken kebabs were juicy and well-marinated, the lamb chops were tender and bursting with flavor, and the kofta kebabs had just the right blend of spices. Every bite showcased the richness of Afghan culinary tradition.

The rice dishes deserve their own praise – the kabuli pulao in particular was phenomenal. Fluffy basmati rice layered with sweet carrots and raisins, paired with tender chunks of lamb – a true comfort dish that felt like it was made with love.

For dessert, we had the firni, a creamy Afghan rice pudding, subtly flavored with cardamom and garnished with pistachios. It was the perfect way to end our meal.

The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable, and the quality of the food was outstanding. Whether you’re familiar with Afghan cuisine or trying it for the first time, Bakhtar is a must-visit. It’s a place that combines authenticity, flavor, and heartfelt service in a way that’s hard to find.
