“Came here around 12:45Am and got a triple mix platter. Just finished eating it and it was by far the best halal I’ve had. None of the other halal spots in the area even come close. The prices are very reasonable.The very nice gentleman helping me gave me a rice pudding on the house when I said it was my first time there. The fact that it’s Zabiha makes it even better, knowing everything is halal and carefully sourced. The food? Incredible. We started with the beef Bihari, and they were so juicy and packed with flavor—just the right amount of spice and served with this fresh mint chutney that tied everything together. The biryani, which was perfection. The rice was fragrant, and the meat was super tender, with all those spices working in harmony. The real star, though, was their Amazing Nihari. It tasted homemade, like something you’d get at a family gathering. The spices were bold but balanced, and the meat was cooked to perfection. You could tell they put real love into this dish.
And let’s not forget the naan—soft, warm, and just the right texture to scoop up all the delicious flavors. The staff was so friendly and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers. If you’re craving real Pakistani food, Al Kababi should be at the top of your list. I buy about 5 chicken burgers a week from them, 4 out of 5 times they ARE a little tough, as they probably have been sitting out for a while.

The Spicy Hot Chicken Meal, is excellent. You just need lots of sauce for it, as it is dry rub. Great for the price.

Mashed potatoes are amazing, just wish there was more gravy, and the biscuits lacked flavor. But great consistency, temp and quality.“

“Sahara Grill is, without a doubt, the best halal food cart here in Hillside, Queens! I’ve been coming here to try all the carts for over 10 years, and I can confidently say that no other cart in the area comes close. There are three other halal carts around, but they simply don’t measure up. The difference is clear – while those other spots have rude staff and serve chicken over rice that often lacks flavor or even smells off, Sahara Grill gets everything just right. Every time I come here, I know I’m getting quality food made with care.

The chicken over rice at Sahara Grill is amazing – it’s packed with flavor, the spices are perfectly balanced, and you can tell it’s fresh with every bite. They give generous portions, too, so you really feel like you’re getting great value for your money. The rice is fluffy, the chicken is juicy, and everything is topped off with just the right amount of sauce. It’s a simple meal, but they make it so well that it stands out.

On my last visit, Hicham, who was working the cart, was incredibly kind and helpful. He made sure my order was exactly how I wanted it and took the time to make me feel valued as a customer. His friendliness and attention to detail really made the experience special. I ordered two chicken over rices, and they were both amazing – just as flavorful and fresh as always.

The only downside? This spot doesn’t seem to get as much attention as it deserves. I rarely see many other customers, which is a shame because this place is a true find. If you’re in Queens and craving some amazing halal food, don’t waste your time anywhere else. Sahara Grill is the place to go – highly recommend it!

“Came in once last week and once yesterday, a bit later during the night. Since it was this late on a Sunday I didn’t expect the food to taste that fresh. Despite this, I still got my order tasting fresh and arriving quick (<5 mins) and could see workers diligently cleaning in the kitchen and a younger man wiping down all the tables, sweeping the floors and cleaning the bathroom. I had went inside the bathroom after he was done and it was spotless, something I would never expect to see from a fast food place. The manager was very nice and I could tell he’s trained his workers well. Will be coming agian.“
