But all the food is delicious and well made with the right amount of meat, spices, etc. I am from another state but I will be visiting soon to enjoy this place. The owner is always there and his attitude is very friendly and very polite I highly recommend this restaurant to all Colombian people and all the people that loves ethnic cuisine! Overall I think the restaurant is a 9 out of 10 ! Gracias!“

“The place is pretty small, more of a takeout style since there are only 2 stools alongside the narrow counter. I ordered the traditional chimi chimi minus the mayonnaise since I just hate mayonnaise. The sandwich comes with the beef patty, pan de agua, green tomatoes, and white cabbage, and the sauce is a mix of mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard and hot sauce. I got the homemade tamarind juice to drink. The chimi was pretty good, I loved that they really kept it traditional with the green tomatoes and white cabbage. The sauce mixture was very good. The meat itself was a bit dry and lacked flavor so you definitely need the sauce to up the flavor. The tamarind juice was absolutely delicious and tasted, just like how they make it in DR. The fried cheese balls were just ok. We also ordered the beef empanadas, which were probably my favorite item along with the delicious green sauce. The service was great. I would definitely recommend if you're in the area and want to eat chimis.“

“Been coming to Gee Whiz for over 10 years on my visits to New York - I choose to ignore all the tourist traps in Midtown and come down here. Always a friendly welcome from the staff, the portions are generous and very keenly priced (given it is Manhattan). Only had breakfast here on a couple of occasions, the Eggs Rancheros and the omelets are amazing! It was downsized considerably a few years ago (I believe the original owner opened another establishment known as Tribeca's Kitchen on the corner of nearby Chambers and Duane Street, and sadly he passed away during COVID.“

“This was one of the top 2 dinners we had both in the City and in the Hamptons this week and was also the least expensive. We couldn’t believe they have Chilean Sea Bass kabobs, and they are only $13 or $20 for a meal. Excellent. Also the dumpling chicken broth dill soup, baklava, hummus, pickles, fries, hot tea- literally everything was fresh and prepared to perfection. As other reviewers have written, this is a hole in the wall find, and I would come all the way to Queens to eat here again! Very near JFK. Service was fairly quick, clientele mostly large families, takes credit cards. Wonderful Israeli/middle eastern cuisine in a very casual atmosphere at very reasonable prices!“

“food was delicious, they serve large amounts, plenty to share, shrimp was made to perfection soft and plump, the tostones are fresh nice and crispy not over-done, the salad was very good, you add your dressing to your taste. Guac was also made beautifully and had a great taste. Flan was delicious. And the lemonade coconut drink was spectacular. Service was good, our waiter was very nice attentive, offered suggestions and brought our food out quickly, the Ambiance is great! Music was perfect, they play a variety of Latin music, not too loud you can still hear each other speak . It's a great spot for family and friends. They have big screen TV's you can watch the games and enjoy a few drinks as well. They have something for everyone, we had a nice time and will return. They do have an additional fee for dining which I think takes away from tipping their servers extra money, other than that every thing is pretty good.“

“Food is good. Service is good. Music is a bit too loud. We had an early dinner here and obnoxious drunk patrons were already present (before 7). As a new place, I'm sure they can't turn away any customers, but my wife and I both decided we're going to check for obnoxious folks before actually going in next time.“

“Very good service, very tasty food, but I think that there you have to be careful with some dishes because the spiciness is very high, perhaps if it is possible to let them know that if you are someone who does not tolerate something very spicy, they should regulate it if possible.. .. it's happened to me several times but I always forget to tell you....!!!!!“
