“Hands down the best Applebees on the island. As a general manager myself, I can say that good service is key to keeping a loyal customer and Brenda does not disappoint. She is easily the best server of any food establishment I’ve been to. Not only does she know my order by heart with all of my customizations, she goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect EVERY TIME. I’d also like to add, you’ll know you’re receiving great service when your server brings you a new drink without having to ask for it. Walking into the diner gave me a migraine, but the food was delightful and the service was wonderful.My future brother in law, who has autism, says that this is a great place to meet friends in the bathroom. He ordered the chicken parmesan, and he gazed upon it it like an old man looks upon the sea. It truly stretched to the horizon, a veritable kiddie pool of pasta and chicken for only $28.95.The menu is too long, but at least your overstimulated father in law can order a ham steak with fruit salad on top. Adding to the mild absurdity of the menu was the "hot vegetable dinner" being one of the few distinguished members of the Dairy Dishes subcategory.Parking: good parking yes“

“There are a lot of great things about this place. For starters, the owner, Jackie, usually welcomes you at the door. On quiet evenings, she'll even ask you where you'd like to sit. If you've been there a couple of times, she may even remember which wine you ordered last visit. You can casually sit at the bar or on the leather couches and graze on cheese or meat boards while sipping on one of the many wonderful wine options served here. Jackie travels aboard to define and complement the restaurant's vast collection. If you're having dinner, the burrata appetizer and the tuna dinner are both amazing. “My fiancee and I have been going to Northern Coast since shortly after it opened, and it never disappoints. This place is the definition of a "hidden gem", being in the lobby at the Hilton Garden Inn on the Stony Brook campus (you don't need to be a student to go, but students get a discount IIRC). Although it's right adjacent to the lobby with little separation, it's much more than your standard hotel eatery with lots of great New American dishes and a warm, comfortable, unique atmosphere.I've tried several dinner items, and all have been great so far, with reasonable prices, sizeable portions, good variety of styles, all fresh-tasting and "made to order". But, if there's one thing I always go back to, it's the roasted chicken. The skin is so crispy and it has a buttery au-jus that's just divine. It comes with some sauteed string beans that are sweet and flavorful as well. I'd also like to mention the pork chops, brussels sprouts, and the peach melba dessert as well.The service never disappoints, and at least when we went, the vibe of the place is calm and quiet (even with being next to the hotel's front desk). I dig the melodic chill/deep house from the hotel lobby, and I also love the style of the place, it's got a clean, colorful look that feels very "90s tropical". Screens are around that rotate through pictures of the food items. We usually eat there pretty late (it's refreshing finding a place that will stay open till 10PM), so I could imagine this place gets a lot busier and noisier at other times (like around college orientation/graduation, or brunch).I love this place and think it's a great addition to the area.
