“10/10 food and service. We came with a group of 7 not knowing how small the seating area was (especially for a large group). They kindly accommodated us by putting the tables together after the existing people finished. Then, the sashimi options were unique. The Hamachi with yuzu sauce was sooo good and like nothing I’ve tried before. We liked all the rolls we got. We got pan friend ramen for the kids and it came with a lot of vegetables which was nice.“

It was our go to for sushi, we loved the apps (the crispy rice and jalapeño yellowtail are fire), and loved also having options for classic Chinese food. “Went to Otaki Sushi for lunch and it was worth it. The service was on point; our server was super polite, always checking in, and she made sure our hot tea was never empty. The tea is really good and pipping hot not warm.

We had the salmon teriyaki bento boxes for $14, and you definitely get your money’s worth. The salmon was fresh, no fishy smell, cooked perfectly with a nice crust outside but still moist in the middle, and not drowning in sauce. It comes with broccoli, snow peas, and corn. I like my veggies crunchy so I enjoyed it, but if you like them softer, I’d just mention that when ordering.

The bento also came with California rolls, and those were really good too. Between the portion size, quality, and service, you leave full and happy. Five out of five.“

“I’ve been to a lot of sushi spots in NYC and Long Island, but Daruma of Tokyo in Great Neck honestly surprised me in the best way. The vibe here is so warm and inviting, the staff actually pay attention to you, check in without hovering, and make you feel comfortable right away. It’s the kind of place where you can relax the second you sit down.

The sushi was unbelievably fresh. I’m picky about sashimi, and theirs tasted clean and smooth with zero fishy aftertaste. The tuna practically melts, and the salmon had that perfect buttery texture you only get from really high-quality cuts. The amaebi and ikura were standouts too, sweet, fresh, and not overly briny. You can tell they take their time with the prep because everything came out beautifully presented.

One thing that really impressed me was the pricing. For the quality you’re getting, it honestly feels like a steal. I’ve paid way more at places that didn’t even come close. This spot proves you don’t need to drop crazy money just to get genuinely good sushi.

It’s definitely a place I’d bring friends or family to, especially people who appreciate authentic Japanese flavors without any pretension. And yes the claw machines in the back are such a cute touch. We ended up playing after dinner and won a couple of toys, which just made the night even better.

“We have tried all of the sushi restaurants in our surrounding area and above all of them, this is the place we prefer by far! We have had it countless times. It is always fresh and delicious! We do delivery often, which is fast, easy and always accurate. Eating in the restaurant is very enjoyable too with its wonderful atmosphere, as well as having delicious food! From the moment the food hits the table, it is clear that the kitchen operates at a world-class level. The fish quality is unparalleled, boasting a melt-in-your-mouth texture that rivals top-tier, high-end omakase spots in New York City.

Every single dish we ordered was a home run. The crispy rice tuna was a spectacular starter—perfectly golden and crunchy on the outside while remaining delicate on the inside. The spicy Kani Salad and Edamame were spot on.The specialty hand rolls and the signature Miso Black Cod were equally breathtaking, showcasing a masterclass in flavor balance and presentation.

The staff also deserves immense praise; the service was incredibly attentive, fast, and warm throughout our entire meal; with a nice window table.

The only minor disconnect is the atmosphere relative to the price point. With a premium menu where a dinner bill can easily scale up, the environment feels a bit too casual and informal. While the space is clean and contemporary, it lacks the quiet, upscale intimacy you might expect when paying top dollar for premium sushi.
