“Shah’s Halal is clean, welcoming and has an excellent array of very fresh food. We are all used to fast food but waiting 3-5 minutes for a perfect falafel is worth it. The staff will help you pick out just what you need to eat, even if you’re not sure what you want. Vegetarians have many choices here, all delicious. Highly recommend!“

We started with the beef Bihari, and they were so juicy and packed with flavor—just the right amount of spice and served with this fresh mint chutney that tied everything together. The biryani, which was perfection. The rice was fragrant, and the meat was super tender, with all those spices working in harmony. The real star, though, was their Amazing Nihari. It tasted homemade, like something you’d get at a family gathering. The spices were bold but balanced, and the meat was cooked to perfection. You could tell they put real love into this dish.
And let’s not forget the naan—soft, warm, and just the right texture to scoop up all the delicious flavors. The staff was so friendly and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers. If you’re craving real Pakistani food, Al Kababi should be at the top of your list. “Best Halal food in Deer Park. I ordered the fish over rice and it was absolutely delicious! The dish came with salad, bread and rice with extra white sauce. Personally, I prefer King Halal over Naz and Shah. Some people think that Naz, Shah and King Halal are the same. Trust me, King Hala is much delicious. I also would like to mention that you get the same taste every time you eat it.“

I had the pleasure of dining at Bakhtar Afghani Restaurant recently, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, the warm ambiance and the inviting aroma of grilled meats and spices made it clear we were in for something special.

The hospitality was top-notch. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles, and our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to recommend popular dishes. We felt truly welcomed, as if we were guests in someone’s home.

We started with the Bolani, a traditional Afghan stuffed flatbread, which was perfectly crispy and flavorful. Then came the mantu – Afghan dumplings filled with seasoned ground beef and topped with yogurt and split peas – absolutely delicious and delicate in flavor.

The highlight, however, was the mixed grill platter. Each skewer was grilled to perfection – the chicken kebabs were juicy and well-marinated, the lamb chops were tender and bursting with flavor, and the kofta kebabs had just the right blend of spices. Every bite showcased the richness of Afghan culinary tradition.

The rice dishes deserve their own praise – the kabuli pulao in particular was phenomenal. Fluffy basmati rice layered with sweet carrots and raisins, paired with tender chunks of lamb – a true comfort dish that felt like it was made with love.

For dessert, we had the firni, a creamy Afghan rice pudding, subtly flavored with cardamom and garnished with pistachios. It was the perfect way to end our meal.

The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable, and the quality of the food was outstanding. Whether you’re familiar with Afghan cuisine or trying it for the first time, Bakhtar is a must-visit. It’s a place that combines authenticity, flavor, and heartfelt service in a way that’s hard to find.

“Plenty of parking at the outdoor mall strip. Clean vibe - courteous staff. They take card or cash. They also have lunch specials available where you can get a platter with a can of soda. We got the chicken rice platter 8/10 and the combo rice platter 9/10. Their lamb is really good and I recommend it. Their white sauce is not the best I have had but decent. Their vegetables were fresh. Overall I would go back and recommend.“

“Angela the owner is a wonderful lady and the food was great. Very decent sized gyros for the price. Typically the lamb meat is cooked with onions mixed in but when I informed Angela that all three of my kids don’t like onions, she very happily and without hesitation grilled up fresh lamb by itself. I highly recommend this place not only for the great food but a chance to meet with Angela and her very friendly and bubbly personality!“

“Outstanding spot for Pakistani food! I haven’t been back home in over 5 years and the food at Karachi Adda brought me the same comfort and joy I get from my favorite Lahori spots. Their service was fantastic, the servers really treated us with care and made us feel at home throughout. We had the malai boti, chicken tikka, Bihari boti, and the chefs special chicken Karahi. Cant recommend these dishes enough. We also topped it off with mango lassi, rass malai, and gulab jamun. Not a single item was underwhelming which is surprising because usually these spots can’t get everything right. I’ll definitely be coming back here :)“
