As soon as we arrived in New York from Australia we were greeted by another Aussie who spotted us in the hotel lobby who quickly wanted to share where we could actually get good coffee..... this is a MUST for us Australians.
Bourke Street Bakery .... you did not disappoint !!! From the very friendly staff to my new favourite coffee, the cortada, to the taste bud blowing pastries and muffins, this place is a must to start your day with. BTW did I mention the coffee. 10/10

Bourke Street Bakery is a cozy coffee shop and bakery that offers a variety of baked goods. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with delicious-looking displays. Their sausage rolls and pies are amazing, and the beef pie is better than a lot of bakeries in Australia. The sandwiches, made with great chewy artisan bread, are a satisfying lunch option. The carrot cake is rich and perfectly sweet, making it the most delicious some have ever tasted. Some pastries are very good, but some aspirational croissants look like badly assembled roadkill. The hot cross buns are a standout, particularly the chocolate flavor with chocolate icing and chips. The bakery can make sourdough bread as a wedding favor, packaged and fresh. The service girls are super nice and worked with a customer to repurchase an order and store food. The bakery stopped making quiche due to the egg crisis, and the latte was a bit lackluster with non-existent foam. The ambiance could use an update, and the noise from the coolers echoes a lot. It is also cool and drafty.
