“This place absolutely deserves twice as many stars. I’ve been a fan since they opened years ago and they have stayed consistent with food quality and creativity. Customer service displayed by everyone is exceptional. A kind word and smile truly can jumpstart someone’s day. I love this place so much that I refer all clients here and visit every time I’m in the area.”
“Tres Leches Cafe - Harlem where do I start. This hole in a wall makes the best Tres Leches cake. I have been visiting this spot for at least 8 yrs. Every bit of tres leches cake I have had within those 8 years alway taste like a piece of heaven. The staff is always amicable and I keep coming back year after year.”
“This was not simply a cookie but an experience. Service was fast. We had 2 cookies and the bag felt substantial. The cookie was easily split between 4 people. Both the chocolate chip and chocolate chip with walnuts were winners. I don’t think you can go wrong with a stop at Levain.”
“Really nice experience, I must say the service had to do a lot with it since the croissant was really tasty but the girl who recommended it treated me amazingly and probably was the one who made me remember this place. Shirley was very understanding and patient with all my questions and she seemed to know a lot of bakery, not only about the flavors but the actual process of making it. I would visit in my next trip.”
“WOW!!! I'm in awe....Chef Benny and his team did an AMAZING job and I'm beyond happy. This is my first Google review that I've written.I reached out to City Cakes and Chef Benny to make a cake to celebrate my brand's birthday, and he responded to me within a day. I told him what I wanted (which was difficult for other bakeries in NYC that I reached out to); however, it wasn't a challenge for Chef Benny. The cake was huge (but still affordable to me) and it looked EXACTLY like my packaging! Also, sometimes cakes like these taste horrible, but the cake itself tasted really good as well. I will definitely be telling my entrepreneurial friends about City Cakes!”
“I recently had the pleasure of trying the chocolate walnut cookies from Levain Bakery in NYC, and I was absolutely blown away by the experience. From the moment I stepped into the cozy bakery, I could smell the irresistible aroma of freshly baked cookies wafting through the air, setting the stage for what was to come. The chocolate walnut cookie itself was a revelation. It was massive, perfectly crispy on the outside, and unbelievably gooey and decadent on the inside. Each bite was a delightful blend of rich, high-quality chocolate chunks and generously-sized walnut pieces. The combination of textures and flavors was simply heavenly, making it clear why Levain Bakery is renowned for its cookies. The friendly staff and warm ambiance of the bakery added to the overall enjoyment of the visit. Without a doubt, Levain's chocolate walnut cookie is a must-try for anyone visiting NYC or simply in search of the ultimate cookie indulgence.”
“I love coming here to get drinks, usually going for an iced chai or iced matcha. Their pastries are also fantastic, especially their almond chocolate pastry. The staff are always friendly, kind, and patient. I have nothing but good words for this cafe and will continue coming here!”
“Whenever I make a trip to NYC...always make it a point to stop by the Confectionery to pick up some sweets for the family. They are the best!! Love the shop as well, especially the Mitvah board, where you can pre-pay a sweet treat for anyone who might be in need of one. Definitely recommend it to anyone who loves to walk the city streets!!”
“Super friendly staff and yummy, delicious sponge cakes for an insanely reasonable price! Cannot wait to come back and try more flavors! Go early, their most popular ones sell out quick. Even my husband who doesn't love sweets enjoyed 2 of them (none of the sponges I tried were overly sweet at all and such a great texture).”
“My friend recommended Cake burger to me. Was working a few blocks away so decided to treat myself. The burger was by for the best I had in a long time. Also Evetle was super nice and welcoming. Will definitely be getting another burger from here. Oh and the fries were awesome”
“Angelina Pastry Shop in NYC is a true gem for dessert lovers. The moment you step inside, the aroma of freshly baked pastries and cakes is absolutely heavenly. The selection of pastries is impressive, and each one is a work of art. From their delicate éclairs to the rich, creamy tiramisu, every bite is a delightful experience. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a sweet escape or a quick coffee break. The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to offer recommendations or assist with your choices. The real standout at Angelina is the quality of their ingredients. You can taste the freshness in every bite, and the flavors are perfectly balanced. Whether you're a fan of classic French pastries or Italian delicacies, there's something for everyone. The only downside is that it can get a bit crowded, especially on weekends, but the quality of the pastries and the overall experience more than make up for it. If you're a dessert enthusiast, Angelina Pastry Shop is a must-visit in NYC. You won't be disappointed.”
“Splitting a sub with the Wife and The Dennis was too much for her so we went with Italian #1. This isn't Faicco's Italian Sub but the freshness and quality of bread and cold cuts were top rate and not salty. No nonsense hard working crew making legit subs. Worth a visit if looking for an elite Manhattan Sub.”
“Well, they say life is full of lemons. And the best lemonade comes from real life events. But I’m allergic to lemons so I say if it ain’t Mousse, bring that goose to the caboose. And that’s something I try to find, my goose in life. What I’m trying to say, is this place is my Mousse Goose. You will not regret it, get the dark chocolate. It’s to die for, literally, like it’s amazing.Thank you insert store name.”
“We visited this location while we were on vacation because we were told we had to have a cookie from Levain Bakery. We had the best guy helping us. I wish we had caught his name. He was so friendly and helpful. He gave us recommendations and we went with it. They were the best cookies we've ever had! Thank you for not disappointing us!”
“My office ordered from here for catering for an event, and it was amazing! This was during the torrential downpour from Tropical Storm Ophelia, so of course our order was delayed (lots of flooding), but everyone at Breads Bakery was incredibly communicative with us, giving us updates frequently. And when the food arrived, it was absolutely amazing. I especially recommend the croissant sandwiches with brie and olives--truly delicious. Thank you, Breads, for keeping our event going with lots of coffee and tasty food, despite the rain!”
“The best cupcake place in the city! I love how each cupcake is filled. They have premade ones or you can also customize your own with filling and topping. The inside is adorable with a swing setup. The service is great and helpful. I've come here 3 times already and will continue!”
“My son's birthday cake exceeded expectations. The staff at the venue where we served it said it was the most beautiful cake they had seen there. It was so easy to work with Crumbly--even as I was desperate and gave only 72 hours notice! I highly recommend and will gladly return to Crumbly for any future needs.”
“I just want to say that I found this place on a whim (by walking by) and was instantly attracted to the crisp bread visible from outside. This stuff is amazing. I wish I lived in NYC I would be a regular customer. If they had online ordering, I would also be a regular. This place has a lot of amazing fresh baked goods and coffees. Check them out.”
“The best Levain Bakery in all of New York. There are so many good things to say about this location in particular. Where do I begin? The cookies are always baked fresh in the open for everyone to see and smell. The aroma hits you from two blocks away in any direction. All their cookies are cooked to perfection being chewy, moist and scrumptious. Their cookies are still affordable in this economy! Lastly, the staff are always friendly and inviting, making you want to order more and tip in abundance.Overall, if you are craving something sweet, don't think twice, come to this Levain immediately.”
“Mah-Ze-Dahr has been on my list for a while and luckily it was nearby when I needed a pick-me-up. The cafe is small with a little bit of seating inside and a couple of tables outside. The cookies were surprisingly affordable for the area ($2 per cookie) and there was assortment of classic pastries. I got the chocolate explosion cookie, chocolate chip cookie, and dark chocolate brownie. The cookies were good but pretty standard. The brownie was amazing and really hit the spot. It had a perfect brownie density with chocolate chips throughout.”
“Everything delicious, especially the chocolate beignet $1.00 and baguettes, $4.00. I think they have espresso too. Outdoor seating only.Wheelchair accessibility: No steps and spacious enough for wheelchair to maneuver. No indoor seating. Seating outside with enough space for a wheelchair.”
“These guys have the best marketing strategy. Leave the front door open and let’s innocent passerby’s follow their nose to pastry bliss. I was just walking down the street when I was smacked in the face with the most delicious smell. I decided to check it out, wound up getting a mini lemon meringue pie and it was delicious. Everything looked amazing though!”
“If you love French pastries, you have to check out Aux Merveilleux de Fred. It's a cozy bakery with a variety of delicious options. You can find sandwiches, croissants, cramiques, and more. But the star of the show is their mini merengues!!! They are light, fluffy, covered with whipped cream and than in chocolate shavings or different toppings, and they literally melt in your mouth. They are not cheap, but they are worth every bite. You can enjoy them yourself or share them with your friends and family as a lovely gift.”
“Heard this was one of the best ice cream spots in NY so had to check it out! We tried the thai tea and taro, both of which were awesome, though I had a slight preference for the taro. Only gripe was it started melting kinda quickly (took it onto the subway oops lol) so couldn't appreciate the texture as much as I wanted to.”
“One of the closest tastes to real French pastry , you know from France in France. The pastry was tasty, not too sweet in comparison to pastries almost anywhere. My only suggestion would be is the size, make them a bit smaller. The services is great, friendly. Will revisit, but will share as the portion is good for two persons..Enjoy!”
“I work across the street and since I found the establishment I have made it a ritual to buy 1 baguette every week . It’s the only bread I purchase and eat during the week . At a five dollar price point, the loaf is great bargain. I make my own version of a Jambon Beurre and the bread hits the spot every single time”
“Was walking by and decided to come inside and try it out. The coffee was really good and also tried a croffle, which was delicious. My wife tried the salmon avocado toast and she enjoyed it. The baked goods are fresh and made in house. It was a rainy morning and the inside is small but also very quaint. I would definitely recommend it is you are in this area.”
“One of the best hole in the wall places ever! I always try to stop by whenever I come into the city and buy 2 dozens of their sponge cakes. Love the variety of flavors and drinks and you can't beat the price. Staff is always friendly and orders are made very quickly. 10/10”
“Honestly, this bagel has officially given me hope for the New York.A few years back, you used to be able to get a sausage, egg, and cheese on a bagel for around $6-$8. More recently, it has been difficult to find a place that charges less that $10. Enter Bagels $ Schmear. A sausage, egg, and cheese on a bagel cost me $7.50! That's basically a bargain!!To be clear, I would have been happy paying around $10 for it so the fact that is was cheaper than that is a real shining achievement. If you're in the area and craving a delicious bagel, I'd stop by.”
“This is my second visit to Pi Bakerie, the first, was a quick coffee stop before a company meeting, the coffee was hot and delicious. Tonight was my second visit after dinner at nearby St. Tropez. My friend and I just wanted a small pastry or cookie and Pi is extremely close to Spring Street restaurants. Additionally, I really like the layout of the space and presentation of food. The chairs are comfy and nice to sit and enjoy your meal.Pi is not just a Greek Bakery, their food options all sound delicious, take a look at their menu online ( their food varieties are immense and a lot to choose from).Tonight, I wanted an iced decaf latte and a pastry to eat in and one to take home. My friend also chose a small bite as well. The coffee, again was delicious and prepared with oat milk. The Nutella baklava was absolutely scrumptious: filled with walnuts and a honey soaked bottom; the perfect size bite. Unfortunately, Rochelle did not enjoy the Athena Wedding Cookie, found it a bit dry.Pi also sells boxes of baklava to give as gifts.I'm not sure as to what other reviewers perspectives of the restroom, but I can vouch that I've used the facilities and found it spotless.I highly recommend visiting Pi and now that I will be working in the area I will be trying their other Greek specialties.Opa!”
“I have visited this cafe 5 times in one year and I don't even live in NYC. It's an Asian dessert place serving variety of ultra cute looking desserts. Unlike an other asian dessert places there food/bakes are on the sweeter side (it's not a bad thing but I prefer lesser sweet desserts) I always come here to pick something for my friends. They love it. Service is really friendly. However I am taking a star out for the fact it's not your typical Asian dessert place and their Lavender coffee needs more work since it's the most unique beverage on the menu. But if still come and chill at this cafe whenever I visit :) thank you guys.”
“Excellent coffee, and friendly, informative service. I had an ice americano with a honey syrup and lemon spritz. I manage a coffee bar in Boston, and I fully stole that drink as a special this week. The baristas told me about the coffee sourcing, their favorite drinks, they worked with me to make an ice version of their drink without making me feel bad for asking for a menu modification, and it was so delicious!!”
“Fantastic, Old world cafe and Italian bakery. It's a wonderful place for a cappuccino or espresso with your favorite pastry or gelato. Huge variety and whole cakes ready you can pick up. Everything is delicious. Too bad it's far from the suburbs or I'd be there every week. We've been there often when living in the city, but lately we ordered a 6" chocolate from Goldbelly. It was delicious and came well packed and fresh. Recommend highly!”
“Since 2019, when I'm in NYC, I go by every Saturday for a coffee and some cheesebreads. The coffee has a very good taste and is strong. The cheesebreads are as you get them in Brazil also very authentic - there are none better in the area - you have to try these. The team is always super friendly.”
“5/5!! I can not rave about this bakery more, I am obsessed with the flavors!! I love the fresh, flaky, soft pastry, and the creaminess of the fillings! I got a box of 6, and these are the ones I highly recommend getting: Apple Cider Cruffin- not too sweet! perfect fall flavor Custard donut- classic, and more on the sweet side but it balanced out with the bread Goat cheese and cranberry donut- yummm the filling is so good FYI there is no seating inside and beware of the lines. Get there early”
“5 stars isn’t even 1% of how many stars this place deserves. I’ve tried 100s of bagels stores all over the world and this BY FAR is the best I have ever had. I only wish I lived closer but it’s worth the wait and trip! FYI…CASH ONLY !!”
“Delicious! Mr. Lee was right there at the counter and, upon learning it was our first time, kindly offered an additional rugelach to try plus a carrot muffin. My husband and I particularly loved the apricot rugelach and the carrot muffin. Both delicious. Thanks Mr. Lee for making our first trip to Harlem extra sweet.”
“We’re not gluten free but we really enjoy this place. Fresh, delicious food but quite small portions. The chicken salad and pancakes were our favorite items from this meal. We were curious to taste gluten free pancakes and they were a little more chewy (in a good way). Excellent service. We felt like we were in Europe somewhere.Dietary restrictions: There’s no seafood hereThey are gluten free”
“Catching up with a friend so we were there for a bit. I felt service was a little spotty. They took our plates when we were still eating our cheese plate saying they were switching it out- then never brought new ones. I thought it was to prep for our main courses but they didn't come out till 15 minutes later. Our food was mostly decent, I thought the pesto in my gnocchi was somewhat leafy as in the basil ratio was off. We weren't checked on during our main courses. We ordered the wrong dessert and the waiter very graciously replaced it, then we didn't see him for a huge chunk of time when we were waiting for the bill maybe he was irritated or taking a long break. I asked someone else who worked there and even after that we had to wait a long time till our server came out and chatted with someone at the bar before bringing us our check. The last part was pretty frustrating.”
“I came here to grab a coffee at 9am on a Saturday. There was a short line, and a few seats were open. I had a cortado; without tip, it came to a little over $5. While it wasn't as hot as I'd prefer, the flavor and texture were great. They also have some pastries, but they all looked a bit lackluster.Honestly, this seems to be a great spot if you like matcha! There seemed to be a few different types on the menu. They also sell cute pantry items (ex.: chocolate, bags of coffee, etc.).”
“If you’re looking for a quaint bakery with delicious pastries, this is it. The croissant and chocolate twist were both great! Service was fast, friendly, and personal. There may be a line Saturday mornings, but I was up to order within 10 minutes. Highly recommend!”
“I am so happy I found Lady Wong! Seleste is the most talented pastry chef. Such beautiful and DELICIOUS cakes for my daughter’s birthday. Seleste and her husband went out of their way to deliver to me in Greenwich (in the pouring rain). We will be ordering many cakes from them for many occasions to come! Thank you ☺️”
“Came here to get a cake for my bf's birthday. The store is small without seating, and the options are a bit limited, but I went with the ube Japanese cheesecake, which was soft and fluffy, and not overly sweet. We definitely enjoyed the cake!”
“Their bagels are not the traditional chewy-kind that you’d get from other NY bagel shops but they were pheonomenal.I went on Sunday morning and the wait was about ~30-min. The staffs were super chill and friendly and the hot bagels with scallion cream cheese were exceptional! Highly recommend their bagels. ”
“Excellent pastries - the eclairs arenot just visually stunning but delicious as well. Croissants (plain and pistachio) were amazing. Price points are pretty average for NYC (expensive compared to anywhere else). Deducted one star because while the food is great, the tables (and generally the dining areas) are usually pretty dirty. I usually come here on weekends in the afternoon and the floors are dirty and sticky and the tables are dirty. Disappointing.”
“Experience 4, offerings 5, value 4 - pretty good size for Manhattan with several outside tables for seating and a few inside. Bacon egg and cheese is good but be warned it can be messy so maybe not the best on the go. Orange juice also good. Price is pretty normal for the area.”
“The Basque Burnt Cheesecake is friggin HEAVENLY. I got one delivered via Goldbelly and yeah, it was $90 delivered. But YEAH, it was worth every penny. Soooo light and creamy in the middle. Almost drippy. Perfectly balanced sweetness to richness ratio (not too high on either).”
“Fairly inexpensive steamed buns and drinks, don’t expect amazing service and not all the buns come hot ( we wanted the Chinese sausage buns but they only come cold to steam at home) but they have cheaper docs packs that you warm in the oven at home as well as individual buns ready to eat.”
“Very neat and clean store. Few tables available for dine in. Most popular cakes are available in slices, 6’ and 9’ sizes. Few other specialty items are also available to sell.I put in a pick up order same day. It was ready for pick up within minutes. On arriving at the store, got my order in couple of minutes, was on my way out. Cakes are fresh and have perfect Lady M taste.”
“I love Levain cookie. It is my favorite cookie ever. My favorite one is Two chip chocolate chip cookie. It is the best for me.I also love the double chocolate as well.I tried the oatmeal with raisin and the chocolate with peanut butter. Love them all.”
