Casa Lever may be my favorite expression of Park Avenue: architecturally serious, commercially consequential, and somehow much more playful than the traditional power lunch establishment. Lever House itself is one of my favorite classic buildings in New York, a 1952 modernist landmark whose glass-and-steel design still looks almost impossibly sharp against this stretch of Midtown. Casa Lever is a great spot for drinks and food, featuring good service and a beautifully decorated atmosphere. The cocktails, especially the martinis, are delicious, and the prawns appetizer with spicy sauce is a highlight. Known for their pasta and red sauce, the Bolognese and Dover sole with truffles are must-try dishes. The duck breast is well cooked, and the foie gras adds a nice touch. The bar is welcoming, with knowledgeable bartenders who provide unique drinks and showcase their passion for mixology. The restaurant has a mix of tables and booths, giving a deco vibe and an excellent outdoor seating area. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, making it a great place for after-work vibes and people watching. Despite some minor issues, like the hamachi appetizer being skippable and the Carbonara being the weakest dish, the overall experience is enjoyable and worth returning to for a meal.
