“First time at Coney Shack and I’m already hooked. This spot is such a cool blend of Vietnamese flavors with street food vibes, and everything we tried hit the mark.

We started with the crispy fish tacos—super light, crunchy, and packed with flavor. The lemongrass chicken banh mi tacos were my personal favorite: juicy, perfectly seasoned, and with just enough heat to keep things interesting. You can tell they’re not afraid to play around with flavor while still keeping the balance right.

The vibe inside is casual and fun—bright, energetic, and perfect for grabbing food with friends. Staff was super friendly and patient while we figured out what to order (so many good options!).

Prices are very fair for the quality, and the portions are generous. Definitely worth a visit if you’re craving something bold and different. I’m already planning to come back to try the short rib quesadilla everyone raves about.“

“Walked by this place and laughed at all the oddly translated phrases adorning the cart. Fresh cooking, real taste, good mood food. Then I got a Bahn Mi and let me tell you, it tasted fresh, it tasted real, and it put me in a good mood.

Cannot recommend this place enough, its just a delightful place, pretty quick service unless its super busy but its rarely longer than 5 minutes. Nice guys running it, I'd try more of the menu but the special baguette gives me no reason to try anything else. Maybe one day.“

“Their lamb/beef gyro was really good. The bowl was stuffed! The wait was a bit long though, almost 25+ minutes just to get to order, and sometimes other people (I assume related) just cut in to throw in 5 or 10 other orders. The food came out very fast at least and I enjoyed my bowl. I see they have an online ordering site, so I may try that next time to reduce the wait. Would love to try the other items.“

“A friend recommended me this place on my trip to NYC and I had to stop by. Not only were the staff so kind, but the food was delicious. I bought two tacos, walked to a bench and ate them, and immediately went back for two more tacos. My only regret is not getting more consome 😫. I love that they give you pickled onions and hot sauce on the side for you to add yourself.

It may look like a “limited” menu to some people but when you perfect a taco this good, you don’t need a million options! Get the birria with consome on the side!

“I’ve tried over a dozen Halal carts in the city, and this one has by far the best chicken over rice. Once you try it, you’ll go out of your way to come here every time you crave halal.

The chicken is juicy and always perfectly flavored and cooked. All ingredients are fresh. The sauces are great, and the red sauce is VERY spicy (love it)

The folks running it are super friendly and the cart is kept clean.

“I have been going to Tommy's food truck for the past 15 years, and I have to say that I have never had a meal that wasn't short of great!! From the grilled Chicken Caesar wrap to the Bacon cheeseburger ( On my cheat days of course;)). This food truck brings a taste of home to the streets of the West side. “OK, so a beef kebab isn't so photogenic, especially outdoors in the afternoon wind, but it did its job of keeping me sated through a long academic presentation at the nearby Italian Academy. Nice food truck selection for these college folks in Morningside.“

“Lot of spots have so so food, this one is not it. Ordered a tikka masala because I walked by and it smelled really good. The owner making the food was really nice and the food was just as good. Strong flavors, fresh ingredients and a fire taste!“

“My favorite is the tofu bowl. Tofu is usually a hit or miss for me but this is one of the few places they do it soo well!! I've had the other bowls as well which are good too but the tofu is always the best.

The portions are too large for one person tho. While I've noticed them lowering portions sizes theyve been amping prices up which makes me sad cus this is truly a go to treat for me as a college student (⁠ ⁠；⁠∀⁠；⁠). Maybe diff size bowls?

The tortilla is particularly soft, the taco portion is generous, two would make an easy meal or big snack. The seasoning is a bit light for my palate. Overall a delight option for the neighborhood and/or you happen to be in the East village craving for small eats.“
