We had dinner here last night, booked months in advance as Christmas is a busy time and it was a special birthday. Table was for 7pm and we had to stand about waiting for 40minutes before our table was ready, simply NOT good enough. People who came in after us were being seated - no offer of a drink while you wait or an explanation as to what was happening, just stood there being avoided by staff. Il Cortile is a restaurant located in the middle of Little Italy, offering a beautiful Garden dining area and a patio indoors that is covered. The atmosphere is well thought out, with plants that are taken care of amazingly, and the warm glow of the sun adds to the experience. The food is always good, made fresh and with love. The chicken marsala is excellent, delicate and considered the best ever, while the tiramisu is also great. The lobster ravioli is very good, with plenty of lobster. The service is very good, attentive, and friendly, with a waiter who is nice and patient. The staff is incredible. An italian lady opera singer performs, and her voice is absolutely incredible and magical. This place is a must for the best Italian restaurant experience in New York.
