My boyfriend brought me here as a surprise late morning on a Sunday while we were out running errands in the area. It's somewhat of a hidden gem because we actually walked passed it twice. The setup may fool you as it did me. But the menu and flavor blew me away. It reminded me of this diner café we went to in New Orleans and it definitely did not disappoint. Been here twice, 2nd time today. Why I like, no I meant love this place. It's ambience, simple old school diner, tiny hexagonal white tile floors, simple tables and chairs, all you need cutlery and a gracious hostess/server. It's breakfast menu, haven't seen anything like it in NYC or anywhere else. The combos are imaginative "southern-y" and the best part is that it all works as a delicious surprise , so far at least! This is apparently my semi-annual reminder to never order biscuits north of the Mason-Dixon Line. Not even the housemade peach jam could save these dry, flavorless sponges. Ick. Chef: take a trip to Savannah or Charleston, eat and puhleeze learn! New York City deserves better than this.
