All the comments about the warmth and welcome of the staff, are in stark contrast to my experierence as a single woman eating at the bar sparadicaly over the years. I live two blocks away. As I am not a regular and a woman alone, I am tolerated. That's it. Case in point, this evening. I came in, sat at bar, ordered a glass of red wine and a menu. Love this quiet but busy spot on UES. Wonderful and accommodating service. Good menu with nicely prepared dishes. Oysters orregonata, pasta primavera, lobster fra diavalo, coffee and biscotti delicious.

Primola on the Upper East Side is a fantastic restaurant that's become an institution. Their food, especially the veal Parmesan, is truly impressive. The bar area offers a welcoming atmosphere, and the attentive staff makes dining here a pleasure. If you're in the mood for delicious Italian cuisine, Primola is an excellent choice.
